  • ohh!!!!! years later I still love this Elmo special!!!!

  • Ghggyg

    Yh

    L

  • Damn, she's really attractive. Only reason I am here. El oh el

She is quite the singer too.

  • I love the details. She sheep are dressed seemingly as Radames, Cio-cio san, Turandot, Escamillo, Canio, Don Giovanni/Commendatore, Siegfried, Countess and Violetta. And was that Salome as well?

  • Thumbs up if Elmo's the shittt!!!

  • Everybody sings Elmo to sleep

  • Are you telling me this woman's cleavage is better for kids than Katy Perry's. Hypocritical. Love both vids tho.

  • @michaelrubinharmonic I know, it's crazy

  • 2:45 elmos high as fuck

  • I wish someone would sin me to sleep like that ;)

  • now THAT'S a damn Lullabye! That'll knock your @ss right out!

  • I have not been this tickled in a long time! I especially love the Aida, Butterfly, and Violetta sheep, the Koenigin der Nacht cow, Pagliacci, Don Giovanni, Bruenhilde, etc. Good job, Sesame Street! Thanks for showing kids that opera can be fun, too!

  • ok, why must she have the pushup bra and clevage for Elmo?

  • Amazing! Had a big smile on my face the entire time. And I'm 20 years old!

  • I love this song what is name of the real version of this. Song she singing

  • @mrsthickmomma the song is Habanera from the Opera Carmen. There is another Denyce Graves Video where she sings the actual song at an Opera preformance if you want to look it up. :) Taterj100 P.S. My 2 year old lovs Elmo s I'm gladI found this.

  • This is so wonderful. What wonderful exposure for young children to classical music. Wish there was more of this. It seems that so many childrens cartoons are "dumbed down" now adays.

  • This is just great. Denyce Graves is so beautiful and stunning, not to mention her talent is to die for. Wonderful wonderful Sesame Street segment. I first saw this when my son was a baby. Now he is 13. He loved it then and loves it now. Thanks for posting.

  • (threw the blanket) ". . . who's going to dance until he STARTS...to snore". . Brilliant!!

  • 3:11

    Awwwwww.

  • I love how one sheep is Radames from "Aida", another is Ciocio-san from "Madama Butterfly", another the Queen of the Night from "Die Zauberflote". The horse I have no idea what that part is, but the pig i think is Rigoletto from "Rigoletto", then there's the viking from "Der Ring des Nibelungen", a fancy aristocrat that could be anyone from Don Giovanni from "Don Giovanni" to the Count from "Le Nozze di Figaro". The rest I could not figure out.

  • @PrincipessaDellOpera I didn't notice that until you pointed it out, hillarious!

  • @PrincipessaDellOpera Who gives a shit. The song is great!

  • @lavert1970 I'm just an opera dork sharing the dorkiness with other dorks. I just thought it was one of those amazing small touches that really made the sketch.

  • She may have more clevage than Katy Perry, but at least she's got the talent to back it up. Denyce Graves is my favorite Carmen of all time. I'm afraid to perform the part because she did it so amazingly!

  • For everyone saying that she has more cleavage than Katy Perry needs to shut- up! seriously, she has 100000x more talent than katy will ever have.

  • This is so rediculously AWESOME!!!!

  • This cartoon got me interested in opera. Becaues of this cartoon, I have been in 3 major priductions throughout the USA! :)

  • Wonderful! Guess times have changed- compare this to Katy Perry- why did they give her such a hard time? Costume wise I mean.

  • I LOVE YOU ELMO!!!!!!!!!! <3

  • That was sooo awesome! I love Denyce Graves she's so great!

  • OMG Sesame Street is simply pure genius! This is absolutely WONDERFUL!

  • wow...boobiess...

  • Put some hardstyle kicks under it XD

  • SHe has more cleavage than katy perry

  • This is the best! Sesame Street IS a national treasure - and people the world over know these characters. Like the simpsons that came after them, EVERYONE has been on Sesame street.

I just love all the singing sheep at the beginning with the quivering lips. hysterical.

  • I saw her in the met as Carmen during late 1990s. She was amazing live on stage. But I didn't know she did Sesame street. Hahahahaaa, wow, i love it.

  • i think sesame street should be designated some kind of historical American broadcast designation.... and NEVER go off the air!!!!

  • I got kids and I don't want them exposed to Katie Perry and her bubblegum sexuality but this I don't mind because it mostly goes over their heads and they know they like it but just not why yet.

  • this is so wrong, considering what Carmen is about...

  • wow this is an old song! bring back good memories!

  • OMG her voice so amazing @_@

  • I cant believe they got rid of katy perry but kept her?!?!

  • and they decided to take Katy Perry off because of her dress?!?!

& THIS ONE actually made it onto the show?!?

wow! yeah shows how idiotic people truly are

  • @sexylilrebel16

this was from years ago! when i was in elementary now im in college!

  • With regard to the comments about Katy Perry here, I would like to point out one key difference between these two women. Denyce has actual singing talent. I've seen the Katy Perry clip and, while her dress was maybe too low cut, her outfit did not bother me. Her horrendous singing voice and total lack of personality were the truly offensive part.

  • This was waaaay more sexual than Katy Perry

  • @TheSasar12 katy ,sings opera the next time!!

  • So this is ok but Katy perry gets taken off? Riigght...

  • this... is really sexy haha

  • wtf!!!!!

  • denyce graves

  • she didn't say a wolf

  • Lord this woman's voice and body is just banging.

  • With a body like hers near my bed, I don't think sleep would be on my mind

  • And this is why Sesame Street is amazing. I love when Yoyo Ma was on (both times)!

  • I once saw Denyce Graves on Between the Lions.

  • I've been looking for clips from the 90s when a kid draws a portrait of his/her friend of a different race, and these clips end with, "Look at all the beautiful colours I used to make a picture of my friend …". Does anyone have any of these?

  • Omg I remember watching this when i was little lol

  • Aww..outta all the Sesame Street episodes i saw, THIS was the one i always remembered. :) <3

  • "Because in opera we like things big"

Never has a truer statement been said.

    <3

  • Elmo's facial expressions are priceless.

  • @AdonaiAries He's a puppet, how many facial expressions can he have?

  • @crazy4sian Look at his face at 30 seconds. Then again at 50 seconds. He turns and laughs a 1 minute 28 seconds. Again at 1 minute 33 seconds he looks FUNNY! Then he looks at her like a idiot at 2 minutes 21 seconds. I could go on but I think you get my drift. Lets not be sarcastic while discussing a sesame street vid.

  • @RedSoxFan1468927

Please remove that comment. Sesame Street is intended as a safe, friendly environment for youngsters.

  • Wow! Now, the only task remaining to us is to identify the operas from which all the sheep come! I get, as nearly in order as I can: Aida, Turandot, Rosenkavalier (???), Carmen (of course), Magic Flute, Pagliaccio, Ring, Cosi (or anything 18th century... I don't see any distinguishing marks; am I missing something?), Tosca (Sacristan? I know there are a lot of ecclesiastical types running around the repertoire), Seraglio, and Andrea Chenier (what else has an ancien regime wig?) Thoughts?

  • @vidiegoquam

I thought that among the original three sheep, the Japanese-looking sheep was Madame Butterfly.

  • @vidiegoquam, I thought that among the original three sheep, the Japanese-looking sheep was Madame Butterfly.

  • @vidiegoquam I think the sheep wearing traditional Asian dress and hairstyle came from The Mikado. That was the only one I recognized. XD

  • Oh my goodness...... childhood memories! XD

  • Elmo es demasiado adorable para ser un torero, pero mola

  • Of course, irresistable. Elmo and Denyce.

  • wtf.. lol hows that gonna make him fall asleep?

  • Don`t you love sesame street for things like this? :-)

  • I posted a comment on this about one year ago- it is still true- except for all those animals in my bedroom

  • "In opera we like it big" lol

    I love Elmo`s bedtime stories....so cute

  • Elmo bedtime story to Carmen? hmm

  • ha ha I love how elmo moves to the melody.

  • lol its Habanera!!

  • Comment removed

  • HAHAHA you're right

  • @grahamleg

    haha lol XD

  • lol the way elmo looked when she said how about something from the opra, he looked like wtf the opra?

  • Beautifully sang, but I would find it to be pretty hard to fall asleep to opera. Opera songs are beautiful but they're also loud and unsoothing.

  • Comment removed

  • the sesame street characters get all the best singers to sing for them.. LOL I'm super jealous!!! How cute.. My nephews love this

  • Which animal is the Magic Flute?

  • The horse. And the pig is "I Pagliaci," the fox (?) is any opera from the Ring cycle, one of the chickens is Salome, one sheep is from Aida and another is from Madame Butterfly. Everyone else could be from any other opera.

  • @heycurly I think the black sheep is from the Magic Flute.

  • We dance for you! lol

  • singing sheep!

  • This is awesome! I had no idea she was on Sesame Street!

I had the honor of singing with her (I'm in a choir) and we did Habanera from "Carmen", teehee :)

  • Ah man, I love this sketch. I used to use the song to put my brother to bed. =] and Denyce Graves is absolutely GORGEOUS.

  • ok im not saying it wouldent be cool to have a hot opera singer singin pro opera as u go to bed but when those frigen singing furry cracker sheep start singing i started to think like holy crap and when elmo starts singing he sounds like frigen gorrila with throat didease

  • I think this is too much cleavage for Sesame Street......maybe it's for the growing number of stay at home dads or something.

  • The opera singing sheep are the coolest

  • Awesome!

  • i don't like her voice....but then the sheep XDDD amazing!!!

  • if you dont like her singing then dont watch

  • but i love elmo XD and didn't know what awaits me? sorry ...doesn't mean she's a bad singer,i just don't like her voice ( and besides: i like opera,if you think that could be the reason for not liking her voice)

  • I love how she sings "anything" at :50

  • Exceptionally KEWT!! DANG!!! All I got when I wuz a kid was Goldielocks, rehashed and repeated every night!!!!

  • Boy, Elmo has rythm...even on an opera song!!! Check em out 1:54 lolll ^.^

  • lmao thank you for drawing my attention :p

  • It was a black day for the UK when they took Sesame street off the air.

  • @nipperface

Canada doesn't have its own verison of Sesame Street anymore either. Now, you can see it on cable, but many kids don't have cable and aren't familiar with Sesame Street anymore.

  • @nipperface Did they really ??

  • @nipperface it was a black day for the world..

  • @nipperface It's funny that you said that on this video, because she's black.

  • @nipperface

    They did???

In Germany, it's still on TV, but it's not as good as the English version of it.

  • Bring on a horse, bring on a pig, because in opera we like things BIG!!!

  • "Singing sheep?"

Any Sesame Street short with sheep is bound to be awesome.

  • I would never sleep when there's some opera singer beside my bed !

  • Observe how Denyce's bosoms may only be legally described as "heaving."

  • I wish Denyse Graves would sing me to sleep.

  • @dulcicantor I tell you. When she is next to my bed I couldn't sleep no more.

  • I still remember this since I was a kid. Good times, good time~.

  • This has got to be one of the cutest things I've ever seen!! Elmo is the best!

  • Its meant for kids to get them introduced into the fine arts like opera and the symphony. Ease up dude!

  • Süß ;)

  • "Carmen" was written in French and the name of the original piece was actually "Les Toreadors"

  • Really? I always thought it was Italian. Cool :D

  • Yeah. That really freaked me out when I first saw Carmen. Its set in Spain yet sung in French. Here in DFW, whenever Carmen is preformed, there is always 1 done in Spanish. Trust me, its better as Bizet wrote it.

  • it's "Torero" not "Toreador"

  • No, its toreador. The song "Toreador Song" is from the opera Carmen (French) by Georges Bizet.

  • Although the name is Toreador,it is supossed to be in Spanish right? In spanish the bullfigther is called Torero, not Toreador

  • But the opera's original language is French, so "Toreador" is quite right.

  • perv

  • she was not thats how she looks when she sings

  • sesame street opened my eyes and my mind to the everlasting quest for knowledge and youthfulness.

  • I love this video!! I used to sing this to my son when he was a baby (he's almost 13 now). Thank you for posting this - it brought back some wonderful memories!!

  • LOL coincidently, Sesame Street was where I first heard the Toreador song. It wasn't this epsiode though. . . I gave up on Sesame Street before this. . .

  • I was watching this on kids thirteen with my daughter and i was wondering who she was. All the while the kids were being entertained i was thinking about other "things" She is Very Beautfiful.

  • lol elmo is so cute

  • tHE horse is buster right

  • she is so fly, and the singing sheep made my day!

  • I love it. I'm going to sing this one to my kid at night. Great voice. Where have you been all my life

  • She is soo beautiful.

  • I remember watching this episode when I was little! It just fueled my love of music!

  • Anybody notice the animals are dressed in costumes that relate to various operas? I'm trying to match them:

3 sheep: Aida (Egyptian), Turandot (red costume), not sure about the 3rd

    horse: The Magic Flute

    pig: Pagliacci

    wolf?: The Ring Cycle

    chickens: not sure

birds in the background: The Marriage of Figaro?

  • Wow, that's awesome!

  • does anyone know what song this is? i luv it! :D

  • Its from Carmen.

  • I've always thought this segment was really hot! She is gorgeous and what a voice!

  • i love this episode. i have been looking for it forever!

  • Denyce Graves certainly did a great job of putting Elmo to sleep, especially by singing a song to him.

  • FIERCE!!!

  • I wish I were Elmo!

  • @reviewsvoiceontube Dude , take a number!

  • Elmo is THE greatest character of Sesame Street!!! And now we got him as a TOREADOR!!! Awesome...

  • WOWO!!!!!

  • lol

  • love it!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THAT was TOO cute!!!

  • i like the singing sheep :]

  • i agree lookin @ that channel something gots to b up

  • Yay for Denyce!

  • Awesome!

  • I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bravo!

  • wtf is elmo doing under that cover while she sing?

  • how do you go to sleep after that?

  • :o CAN I HAVE ANOTHER?!

  • she's AWESOME

  • If she was in my room when I was young I think I would have been getting up.

  • I am an opera buff, and my 2-year old loves Elmo, so I just had to add this to my favorites for both of us! Thanks for the upload sesamestreet66

  • she is a terribly gorgeous woman.

all of these Sesame Street bits from the early 90s were really the best, i think. they really focused on education and enlightenment, and they still do, but it seems they're relying on more glammed up versions of their older sketches.

also, i loved how when monsters were tired, they just kind of looked incredibly boozed to high Hell and back. lolol.

  • lol at 1:25 it looks like elmo was checking her out, and when she turned around and caught him he looked up.
