  • Oh please... no way is this the bass player for Jeff Beck... in fact this isn't even a bass player! This an over rated show pony who really would be much more suited to the likes of Lady Gaga. Tal Wilkenfeld was "the perfect bassist" for Jeff Beck.

  • A couple of young ladies to also try out which play some covers and there fun are BassGirl5809 she's sorta new but plays nice and also CrankUpTheAmps has been playing for awhile. There's no slap bass just good bass playing on songs they have learned. Give it a try. I've liked the channels. Remember, they've only been playing for a while. A couple to three yrs maybe.

  • Jeff Beck feels so out of place when the camera goes back to him a couple times. I've seen many of Tal's performances with Beck and she's WAY better suited for Jeff Beck. She's grooves with Jeff style better. I like Rhonda's style only because it's very percussive, drum sounding, yet I'm not feelin the notes with Rhonda. It's more show. Jeff isn't raising his hands up naturally for enjoyment like he did with Tal's Jazzy style. There was music chemistry between Jeff and Tal.

  • I agree Rhonda is great but no where near as good as Tal

  • @dezziwood555 Rhonda is great with Prince and his funk regime...she needs a musical director to performe here best...like many other musicans

  • Yes, its true tal is much cutter but they both are sick!!!

  • @cd3422 ...but Tal is better...period. No contest. There's more people that can play Rhonda's stuff than can play Tal's..

  • POW!

  • ΜRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FROM GREEK

  • tal is the very best, jeff..

  • Hot!!!

  • so talented, so sassy = rock is in good hands

  • My Idol >///////<

  • one of a kind rhonda,love ya

  • I love how she sells it: big warm groove from a big warm Lady.

  • and beautiful Big Boobs wow I am a musician and I like a lot

  • ROFL ..... AND SO WHAT ? WHAT ELSE ?

  • I wish she'd do that exact same thing to my penis

  • Que buen show este! volve Jeff!!! jeje

  • Far from her best work.

  • Showmanship and connection to the audience was great.

  • like it how the tits hangs over the bass

  • I reckon Jeff looks more relaxed in the Ronnie Scotts DVD playing with Tal. It just seemed such a darned happy group!

  • I don't know much about bass playing, They both seem to work out well with my Jeff.

  • i prefer listening to Tal Wilkinfield; her playing doesn't seem 2 be as predicated on chops/technique (though, i'm sure she's got tons) as Rhonda Smith's. clearly, Beck heard something in both players, so it should be clear this isn't a statement on their relative abilities. just my personal preference. listening to either would give a person plenty 2 practice.

  • She's so fuckin Hot ! Bass and Body !!

  • @TommyGuns40 Forget about her body, think about what she is DOING ON THE BASS.

  • What is all that garbage in the beginning? I really don't care if she got the Beck gig... This woman sucks.

  • @aleisterktk Apparently, and thankfully, Jeff Beck has better taste than you. Let me guess... you think people like Mark Hoppus can play?

  • Zach Smith from Pinback brought me here

  • You guys are a bunch of sexist dicks. See a woman player, you automatically have to compare her to other female players as if they(women) are in a musical world by themselves. ANY musician who plays well enough to be in a band with Jeff Beck deserves a certain amount of respect, male or female. Besides, if you spent more time practicing and less time bagging on peoples youtube performances, you might all be better players. Go practice and then post your own videos if you know so much.

  • @ypteacher Hold on. not all men think like this. As you said you have to know what you are doing to be hired by Jeff Beck. However, you have to also realize that he is STILL A MAN, and he is essentially funded by corporations (MUSIC INDUSTRY), which are ESSENTIALLY MYSGONIST, who want women to look a certain way on stage although you have women who play better than CLARK, WOOTEN OR EVEN LES CLAYPOOL but does not have "THE LOOK". Sadly for women she have to be "sexier" than talent.

  • You guys kill me. Is there anyone out there that's played with Jeff Beck? Yeah, that's what I thought! lol!!

  • To compare Rhonda Smith with Tal Wilkenfield is like comparing roses with tulips.

Who is better? As a bass player i like them both, they are quite unique both of them.

  • there she goes again with the old slappin again for fuck sake play something technical instead of that 80s shit. all her vids she does the same shit. i agree tal is much more technical and fluent in her style.

  • Too much show boating and slapping but still kicks ass for a chick:)

  • @titanium9000 For a chick? Oh man. Post your vid. Let's see you even pull this shit off.

  • She's playing at POW by Graham Central Station

  • I prefer Tal.....shure !

  • MORE STUPID WHITE BOYS TALKING SHIT ABOUT A WOMEN WHO'S GREAT AT WHAT SHE DOES. ALL THIS COMPARING IS LIKE YOU FOOLS CIRCLE JERKING EACH OTHER OFF.

  • Esperanza Spaulding is my fav.

  • Famous Jeff's good taste.

    :)

  • I'm sure Tal is much better. I will say this I'll take Rhonda over what's her name? That currently plays for Prince. I bet outta all the players if Sonny T would of had the chance he woulda hung in there with Jeff. But Sonny ain't got no skirt or pretty eye lashes.

  • good titties....for a tittfuck....

  • Nothing new in that solo ...Old style , Old fashion ...

  • sounds like larry grahams tune pow

  • @plangentmusic,Do you really know what mediocre is? Rhonda Smith is probably one of the best female bassist there is. What she did may have seemed a little out of place in this particular video, but the lady is nothing less that exceptional!. Someone also wrote that she's not on the level of Tal Wakenfield,I say to them stop dreaming Rhonda Smith will wear Tal Waklfied out hands downs, but everyone has their own opinion.BTW do you play bass or do you just watch?

  • @grayhairandblueeyes,your statment about slapping and popping is so asinine it pathetic.just becasue YOU don't know how do it doesn't mean its not worthy! Slapping and popping is the only technique that has come along that's changed the concept of bass playing! Apparently you've never heard of Stanley clarke ,Marcus Miller,Victor Wooten or Larry Graham. And yes slapping and popping does require a certain tecnical excellence!! Please research BEFORE you speak. When it comes to Rhonda,I say Tal Who

  • 1:40 reminds me of thoroughly at home by animals as leaders :/

  • not very melodic but she's hot

  • That was exceedingly mediocre. Nice rack though.

  • if ya want slap, check out 'OJAY, the best street bassist ever' - i'm not saying he is, but boy, what a groover!!!!!

  • She seems to have one slap lick. anything else there? Rhonda's playing is not on Tal's level.

  • damn. hot bass player. great skills. she's got quite the pair on her huh? damn.

  • No me gusta Rhonda. Mequedo con Tal.

  • defo gets a the prize for most weird facial expressions whilst on stage..... :-s

  • Tal Wilkenfeld is better IMHO

  • @metalhead9838772 I disagree, I think Tal is way overrated from the little I have heard of her..

  • @gleventhal Did you see that I wrote "IMHO" at the end of my comment? In case you don't know, IMHO means In My Honest Opinion. Your opinion may vary, and that's just fine.

  • @metalhead9838772 I know what it means, though I thought H stood for humble, not honest, but either way, I simply am disagreeing with you, we both have opinions, and I am not saying yours is not valid, just expressing mine in addition.

  • @gleventhal well actually the H means both humble and honest, as I've seen both often.

  • @metalhead9838772 Tal has 1/10 the experience at best and moves me 10x more than Rhonda...but its an opinion. I CANT WAIT till Tal puts out another album of her own.

  • @metalhead9838772 who the fuck asked you who's better?

  • @ZeroFrillsMan You know, there's that thing called "opinion". I gave my opinion, everybody gives their opinion, that's all. Unhappy? Scram!

  • @metalhead9838772 nobody asked you, scumbag.

  • I play bass and belive there really is no place for slap and poping it's like watching a car wreck sure it gets attension but as we see here it just doesn't work well no matter who the talent behind the bass is. Jeff should have known better for all his years. And yes for her years Tai is outstanding...

  • seems to be 2 sides... a Tal side and a Rhonda side....seems to be a lot of criticism too...I think given Jeff's talent and longevity he would know who he wants backing him and that's why he has Rhonda now

  • Wow!

  • @ricky77able......well,,Jeff Beck seems to dig her,,as does Prince..I think the "phone sound" doesn t do justice to her solo in this case.True Tai is more melodic in her approach...

  • Prá tocar com Jeff Beck, só assim...

    Valu!

  • Shit, don`t like that at all. But JB at Ronnie Scotts with Tal is awesome!

  • This is awful, all for show,no heart in at all,tal is way better and plays much more low end bass notes and she doesn't show off like this one

  • @ricky771able And bass guitars should not sound like this,it sounds like 2 tins being rubbed together, where's the depth, the tone,it's not there sounds awaful and i'm sorry but she has no talent compared to tal

  • @ricky771able Rhonda is much better. In this video she doesn't show much of her talent though

  • beautiful? YEP! talented? sure! Soulful? hmmmm ... noup ...

  • I think the first little harmonic things she does, when she touches her heart are a tribute to Jaco - sofa king cool.

  • Cute lady, really into her bass. First half she sorta sounds like she wanted to sound like drums to me from her tempo. No low end on her bass. It's more mid, which is fine. Jeff seems really shy and out off place with her in this section. He is a more relaxed, to build up intense and back to relaxed playing depending on song. Great slap bass thou. Sorry, but Tal is more soothing on solos : )

  • @aaa567ify who is tal....

  • @nopyne Tal also played bass for Jeff Beck.

  • that's the POW riff no?

but really, i didn't enjoy her playing

  • sounds like a smooth jazz concert before before the headliner comes out...

  • nice new strings

  • Jeff looks lost without tal, this bass player is good in her own unique way but tal is much much more suited to jeff, hjeff iasn't even smiling like he does with tal

  • @ricky771able and she's more of a show off than tal,tal is very innocent about how she plays.almost naive but so humble, this woman is there for the glory and nothing else

  • @ricky771able hey hey now, we all have our own stage characters. Not saying I dig this chick's anymore or less than Tal's, but what we all do on stage is just what we do on stage. Most bass players usually get over-the-top when we do solos live haha. It's about the fun of it, I think. But not gonna lie...this chick's rhythmic solo thing is getting old already lol

  • she did an awesome job in St. Louis last year.. plus very easy on the eye's ...

  • Why does she keep pounding on her chest? Indigestion? Her face suggests constipation.

  • That's awful. Posing and worn out cliches.Standard music store chops How did she ever get that gig after Tal?

  • @gimmeagig She has rhythm, which is way more than just "music store chops". I do agree that Tal is worlds beyond in ability, though.

  • Gimme a break..she's all about sound effects..and making faces more than any bass player I've ever watched...C'mon Jeff...Get Vinnie and Tal back...and quick...

  • I see more feeling in her making faces than in her playing.......

  • Tal and Rhonda are different bass players. What alot of folks miss when playing bass in this style it becomes a precussion instrument as well as a string instrument. Marcus Miller has the chops for both worlds as a melodic player and a thumper. Both Tal and Rhonda are both fantastic players and add a different flavor to Beck's music who by the way is a very under rated guitarist in my opinion. Anyway , Rhonda is just amazing in this clip. Her chops are just off the chain !

  • For some reason Europeans respect black american music more than american whites seem to. They are honest about rock's origins and are not intimidated by talent from any gender or race. Thats why Jimi conquered the UK before the USA.

  • A bass player who can play funk from an R&B point of view adds something special to rock music. kinda the way Billy Preston on organ and keys enhanced the Beatles with his Gospel music background.

  • I think Tal is a much better fit with Beck - a lot more tasteful and melodic in her solos but that's just my personal opinion.

  • @markthode I agree so far from the utube vid clips. I'm only seeing Rhondas solos on repeat, and not the Band songs. So far from what I've seen Jeff seems out of place with Rhonda, (in the solos anyway; he is not as happy or raising his arms in joy, like with Tal he does. Rhonda has a great style of her own, yet I need to see the chemistry on Jeffs songs if there's vids for them with Rhonda. Good day!

  • It's no Tal Wilkenfeld, It's totally different, therefore there's no comparisson. Still I preffer Tal's style at Beck' side.

  • About as much of a wanky player as Jeff Beck. Match made in heaven.

Totally need to make a shred of this.

She is hot. Granted. And obviously a great player. Just seems wasted here?

  • Jeff likes playing with hot bass players.

  • saw them in ottawa she rocks

  • Very Funky woman... Prince lost a good one when she moved on!

  • She's no Tal....

  • i miss tal!

  • It is amazing how some folks can be so critical of a musician on the road, playing live,in front of sold out venues, while they sit at home on break from their job flipping burgers!!! Get a clue and a life!!!!!

  • who did she play with before JB?

  • @makalavena Prince

  • Great, however slap bass sound almost like a percussion instrument. It's great for sum stuff, but the bass is supposed to fill out in the deep.

  • @blue9z Well said. The solo was neat to hear though. Tal is more soothing to listen to and it seems she can play for ever. She is really going to be remembered.

  • She really Funkin rocks! it .,She like the Female version of Victor Wooten/larry Graham , but with . some good female Wood .. in front.... Great Funky Woman...1...

  • @wojtham Huh? Nuh-uh. When she's playing the harmonics, the keys player is playing too!!? No fx there! Just some distortion at the end.

  • Man, what a beautiful....um.......RACK!!!

  • I have been in love with Rhonda Smith from the first day I saw her. This is an amazing woman! GORGEOUS and TALENTED. She has no idea yet but I am her future husband!

  • Smith is so much more ie ie... she ' s a really ie ie !!

  • Leave Rhonda alone to me see is awesome and have a love for the instrument besides playing music is about what inspires you and shes inspired buy Larry!Graham and other funkster so maybe you can learn something . So Be cool not cruel and keep it funky baby!!! SM

  • "YOU SUCK!" @ 0:26 LOL!!!!!!

  • hi there, does anyone knows what filter she is using playing this slow part? the stuff which creates some kind of keyboard like background?, thanks

  • sexy!! que bestia de mujer/musico!!

  • buenísimo che, yo fui allá, fila 14 =D

    estuvo tremendo el recital

  • Thanks jeff . for giving this lady a place to jam she deserves every part.

  • I like Tal Wilkenfeld with Jeff Beck MUCH better!

  • Funny though... she plays the same "solo" everytime!... even the gestures are the same...

  • @bijouxmusic Really, hee hee

  • @bijouxmusic Dude I know.....It's not even a solo, it's "POW" by Larry Graham..... WOW! what rip-off.....Totally bring back Tal Wiilkenfeld!

  • @slapjones69 are you deaf son....have your hearing checked...I suppose you are a "talented musician" like all the other pimple faced wankers that write critical comments on this site and use the comment section to hide behind

  • @bijouxmusic watch any big tour (say, Prince - one example is the Sign of the Time's tour because there's LOTS of bootleg footage from it)...Levi (bass) Sheila (drums) and Eric Leads took pretty much the "same" solo with different, subtle variations each time.

  • My God, she isn't beautiful, she is absolutely gorgeous!!!!! She plays so well too and so sensual, the way she plays the snares. Indeed, there's something really kinky about women playing bass... I just would love to play (music) with her. I'm a drummer, and Narada is such an awesome drummer and in this case a lucky bastard too, having her in the rhythm-section next to you...

  • Beautiful and talented!! The goddess of the bass guitar!!

  • mit lieben Grüßen an den basswarrior - perfect

  • Something damn sexy about a lady playing bass. She is awesome!

  • excelente, radiante rhonda!!
