In summing up, I wish I had some kind of affirmative message to leave you with, I don't. Would you take two negative messages? My mother used to say to me when I was younger, "If a strange man comes up to you, and offers you candy, and wants you to get into the back of his car with him...go".
@Vaatrad: Yes and no. It could have two meanings in this case: the one you mentioned and also to live without worry, life is melodious, etc. I think that's why it's such a great quote.
Hi taitorell, simplified, "carry a tune" means to be able to sing well and on key. He's saying that experiencing one's death without emotion or bias is hard enough, there's no way to do that AND to sing well. Which of course is silly because who would sing while experiencing his/her death? Cheers!
Woodys good, Inspired a lot of the new comedy, Seinfeld in paticular, but i think the new quotable guy is Kerou. A great cartoonist that is just beginning, check it out and tell me if i'm wrong its at kerou(.)net
"I took Karate. My instructor taught me how to break a one inch board. One day I was confronted by two thugs with a 2" board. They beat the hell out of me." -- Woody Allen
I love him because he deals with his neuroses in the absolute best way. He makes comedy of it.
"...And of the ten plagues, God sent one through six inculsive...." From one of Woody Allen's short stories. Wonderful clip. I laughed so hard I shook the table.

As much as I've tried to change, I'll always be a Woody Allen fan. His Socrates Apologia (Google it) is beyond hilarious.

taitorell 2 years ago
In the context of the quote to "carry a tune" means to "be able to sing (or hum, or whistle etc.) a song (or tune) accurately".
