  • We here, in Ukraine, think, that Arabic world is Islamic world. But I'm glad to see there are Orthodox Christians in Arabic world.

    Greetings from Ukraine.

    Glory to Jesus Christ!

  • There are approximately 30-40 million Arab Christians, for example, there are:

400,000 in Jordan and Palestine (mostly Greek Orthodox)

More than a million in Syria (Greek Orthodox)

    40% of Lebanon's population

15-20 million Coptic Orthodox in Egypt

    Millions in Sudan

and many many in other Arab Countries .. :)

  • Thanks a lot! It's really news for me. Perfect news.

  • @mrsuyyagh And may Jesus bless them all,

    we pray for them daily!

  • I like catholicism, but which one roman or eastern?

if eastern the eastern or oriental orthodox?

  • Become Orthodox +

  • @designedsayer There's nothing orthodox in Roman catholicism.

  • regards from jerusalem to all my brothers and sister in Christ

  • Hi My Brothet/sister in the Christ. this is Sam from Nazareth but living in America. I wish I can go back and visit the most beautiful city in the globe, Jerusalem then Nazareth, then Cana of Galilee, then the sea of Galilee, where i spent most of my beautiful younghood days in.

  • God Bless All My Orthodox Brothers.... long live our Brotherhood Strength :)

  • My Brother I too greet my Orthodox Brothers. but I think that everyone who is straight in his/her believes are Orthodox even if they belong to other streams.

  • @issagm We will rise with Christ Brother

  • Peace brothers! God Loves us. He taught us to love each other. We all have to try (and especially me) to express our different opinions or dogmas or points of view without insulting each other. God Bless us.

  • I cannot agree with you more, You are absolutely right. We do not have to impose or convince others of our believe but we can explain to them what we believe in and they can decide on their free will. and most important let us provide our ears to liten to others with respect. thank you for you comments

  • I am an Orthodox Christian, and I am hurting to read these comments. Jesus taught us to love each other even to love our enemies. All people, of all religions, we Christians love you all. One thing I would like to request from all of the participants here, PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU RESPOND ESPECIALLY BEFORE YOU JUDGE OR DEMEAN OTHERS

It does not matter what we think of anything, just do not allow our thinking to be a dividing force instead of uniting one. God Bless you all

    Nazarene1

  • I don't even believe in God and I like this song Agni Parthene

  • It is good that you liked tis Chant, if you spend dome time in listening to Byzantian Leturgical music, it would be one step in understanding our Lord's way. I invite to to write to me using Nazareeneone at Yho com and we can discuss these issues. you can read and decide for yoyr self. how about that?

  • Pretty sure I just like the musicianship.

    Thanks for the offer.

  • It saddens me to see faithful Orthodox Christians slandering upon others and their beliefs. We should be setting a righteous Christian example by humility and patience at others who speak wrongly of us. Calm yourselves down and pray to our Lord after you read this that he will send down his grace and compassion upon all of us and help us to see him more clearly and not to argue about our amazing God.

  • @RuSerious117 The Lord gives us the freedom to forgive those who wrong us but not those wrong Him.

  • for the Latin Church all bishops are Vicars of Christ.... it seems we as Orthodox need sometimes an update in our strong apologetic....

  • lol the orthodox split from the catholics? you may need to read up on your history! before Catholicism there were no denominations... just one church the Orthodox church, the split happened when people (Catholics) decided to start changing Holy tradition. So we didnt "break" as you called it from you... you broke from us... we were first :)

  • the church of christ was found by peter, you ignorant.

the orthodox split because of the filioque.

its a simple fact that the holy spirit emanates

from iesus since the beginning since he is of the

same nature as god.the orthodox say that the

holy spirit does not come forth from the Redeemer.

this made the theotokos so angry so that

Byzantium fell because of this blasphemy and heresy.

Et in spiritum sanctum dominum et vivificantem

qui ex patre filioque procedit !

  • @DrPunjabi "I will pray the Father, and HE shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever...

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the FATHER will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

  • one of the many problems started when the POPE declared himself the vicar of Christ. we Orthodox believe all man is equal, only Jesus Christ is most Pure ! most Holy !, most Divine !.

all so the Most Holy Ever Virgin Mary " the THEOTOKOS " who without her salvation would be lost!

Catholics all so refure to her as just MARY! like she was born on the street corner!

this is just the beginning of it to.

  • What the heck did the Catholic Church ever do to these creatures? They broke with us because they refused to believe that the Pope was the sole authority, so don't go blaming us, not to mention the fact they deny the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God as well as the Assumption of the Mother of God, so they are blasphemers and heretics, not us. So even though they like to pretend they love The Lord God's Mother, they are lying. Greek Orthodox images of the Mother of God are ugly anyways.

  • @TheSacredHeart2

Either you dont know the history or you are just deep brainwashed that you cant see...

  • Do you know the history? maybe you can help me see what you want me to see, instead of what I was told.

  • ur stupid. Pope is st peter huh?

idiots. nazzis. slawe masters. and above all, muslims hate all cristians because ur holly war

  • you despicable muslims are not even human. The hurch onlt retaliated because you sick twisted creatures who only call yourselves human threatened to overthrow Europe with your stupid false opinions. YOU are stupid, you sick twisted Muslim freak.

  • I am not Christian, but I find this prayer (in various languages, but especially Arabic) to be very powerful and moving. Beautiful.

  • popopo telio

  • you are turkish, what makes u interested in this video?

  • Because I like orthodox music...

  • thats cool, God bless.

  • I'm Greek and Roman Catholic. I know St. Nectarius who composed this divine Hymn was a Catholic hater... but I think this melody was God sent. I cherish his memory even he hated us

  • i dont think he hated you, but i think he didnt like the things that the roman catholics did... staurofories from the 1st to the last, where the catholics attacked other christians!!!! however... i love this hymn in every language!!

  • Roman catholecism is not good!

Your church murdred millions of people!

you murdred all other christian nations who opposed you!

YOU MUST STOP AND SEE THE VATICAN IS CORRUPT!

  • Each [Catholics and Orthodox] ... must look back at the past with sorrow and repentance.

Both sides must in honesty acknowledge that they could and should have done more to prevent the schism. Both sides were guilty of mistakes on the human level. Orthodox, for example, ...

  • @deltadeltakilo only in people/human level but in Christian teology We are One (ort. and Cath.)

  • muslims did't made what cath did.. Masacre at Jerusalem, City Jafa, when "knight| kill and eat Saracens, offcourse if u look better, u can find a letter to the your Pope. that's not secret

  • @NikolicaSrb

  • OK! OK! OK! My Serbian Orthodox Brothers. I give up! I give up! We are the children of the same God. I'm Greek and Roman Catholic and I'm proud of what I am. In this blessed coutnry Orthodox and Catholics live in harmony. I have never felt different. Please do not import your hate in my country. You have done enough damage in your country. Therefore let us all shut up and meditate on this beautiful hymn. God bless you.

  • @NikolicaSrb Thanks for Cruseders War we are Catholic, not muslims.

  • ...must blame themselves for the pride and contempt with which during the Byzantine period they regarded the west; they must blame themselves for incidents such as the riot of 1182, when many Latin residents at Constantinople were massacred by the Byzantine populace.

  • well, he probably hade reason for the hate... like most people on the world.

  • Herhalde bu ilâhî Hz.Meryem'e yazılmış.

Bunu Türkçeye çevirebilecek kimse var mı?

  • ja cak nisam znao ni da postoje pravoslavni arapi.

  • jesu to Kopti ?

  • Auuuuu, brate.. :)

  • gretings from greece........

this hymn is one of my favorites and in arabic is great.

    arousa laarous salamat.

    thanks its exelant.......

  • I just found out that there is Byzantine music in Arabic! This is just great!

  • that s so Normal, the Arab Christians are one of the first people to adopt Christianity as a religion even before the Armenians, we served and protected the southern borders of the Byzantine Empire, until the invasion of Islam, some people converted because they have no money, so the Christian Arabs that you meet today really go back the beginning of Christianity, and against all odds they still defend the Orthodox Faith

  • @issagm Romania is still a nation Half Dacian Half Roman (Rumanian) we were born Orthodox Christian

  • @issagm Indeed you are right ! They came all the way from Yemen to protect the Empire, and our Faith which will be ours again with paitence. Not to forget they came from northern Europe also and all over the Balkans.... Orthodoxy and Holy Wisdom will roam theese lands again !

  • @issagm ...if...i just saing,if...if you ever pray, could you please put me and my family into your prayer? If you dont...its allmost ok.

    I thank you

    Georgios.

  • @issagm First of all, they're not called "Arab" Christians. They're Melkites. They're a mix of early Greek and old Syrian (aka Aramaean/Syriac) people. They're not from Arabia, but rather from the same stock as St. Luke the Evangelist and Antiochus Epiphanes, both Greco-Syrians from Antioch, the capital of Syria Prima. The only reason they speak Arabic is because Arabic has become the lingua franca in the Middle East. The Ghassanids (Arab Christians from 3rd century) are only 2% of all Melkites.

  • Χαίρε Νύμφη Ανύμφευτε

May St. Nectarios pray for us all.

    Amen.

  • I am Greek. I have visited the church that is dedicated to Saint Nectarios several times. The church is in Aegina, a small island nearby Peiraus, Athens. There you can find Nectarius's tomb. Everytime I go there I meet people from all around Greece who have something miraculous to say about this Saint and he marked their lives in difficult siittuations. It's trully remarkable!

  • Χαίρε Νύμφη Ανύμφευτε

  • All Orthodox people are united with our brothers and sisters in Kosovo. Kosovo is Serbia. The Lord has risen from death. Happy Easter to all from Virginia USA

  • Thank you, mu good brother!

There are more hundreds of medieval monasteries in Kosovo and now they are trying to get it away from us..all "christian" Europe is united in that idea to give Kosovo to Muslims.. Nobody sais a word of more than 200 000 Serbs exiled from Kosovo in 1999, from their homes. Why is that everybody do not condemn such an act is beyond me.. But, before Easter there is always Great Friday! CHRIST IS RISEN!!! INDEED HE IS RISEN!!!

  • St. Nectarios pray for us, the sinfuls and give us health to preach that we have the endless kindness of God discover and the true religion-The Orthodoxy-

  • Orthodoxy is the most magnificent of all religions but the problem is that many of us are to superficially and we think that we have nothing to do in exchange for all the God's gifts.

We shoud pray all the time because we dont know when we die and our soul has many sins.

God bless Romania and other Orthodox and unorthodox countries and I hope that we will see many children in churches and our Orthodoxy will prosper.

  • There are some heterodox who are doing better than us Orthodox. I heard recently of a protestant girl who was seen shining with the Uncreated Light of God. Undoubtedly, this was a result of her simple faith and love for God. She puts me and many other so-called Orthodox Christians to shame.

  • I hope that, if she happens upon my comment by some amazing chance, that my comment does not instill the sickness of prelest in her heart.

  • this is false light.

  • That is a bold statement to make, considering you weren't there and don't know the full context surrounding this event. God is capable of working outside the Church, according to the Orthodox Church I know. Or, perhaps you assume we are utterly depraved, as some Calvinists believe, and that the image of God in man has been totally obliterated such that man is incapable of responding to God unless God forces him to it through irresistible grace? (Look up TULIP theology).

  • the true light in the orthodox church is the miracle of baptism. Without baptism we are blind.

  • i am an orthodox and i think the only problom with us is that some of us don't respect other's like catholic

  • It is always good to be respectful to people and I like Catholics and sometimes say the Rosary and ask for the graces (like humility, love of poverty, compunction) that go with the mysteries. But their theology is TOTALLY COMPLETELY different. I am a convert to Orthodoxy. I tried becoming Catholic but couldn't accept the theology. They accept the eastern Fathers as doctors of the church, but NONE of their theology comes from them.

  • PS: The below is a response to Madabawa1991. :)

  • this is the demonstration that differents cultures can lives together and in peace. This is the "ecumenos". I think that the spirituality don't have flag or a religion. Islam,Cristhianity, induism or other think are the same expression.

  • "And not for them only do I pray, but for them also who through their word shall believe in me; That they all may be one, as thou, Father, in me, and I in thee; that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." That is from John 17. May we all pray for unity so that the world may know who Christ is!! No more divisions and hatreds among God's people!!

  • The Orthodox Church is already One, as we say in the creed. The existence of sects outside of the one Church of Christ doesn't disrupt this unity. It is of course wrong to adopt an antagonistic or pharisaical attitude to members of other confessions such as the Roman Catholics, but love in Truth demands that we distinguish orthodoxy from heresy.

  • I am pretty amazed at some of these comments displaying antagonism between Catholics and Orthodox. I am myself Catholic and look forward to the day when we will all truly be united in Christ. This video is so amazing because I can feel the same desire in the lyrics, the movement, the meaning of the lyrics to Our Lady. Let us remember the prayer of Our Lord before He died:

  • "Agni Parthene (Gr. ?'γνή Παρθένε) is a non-liturgical hymn composed in Greek by St. Nectarios of Aegina in the 19th century during his tenure as director of the Rizarios Theological School of Athens.... The tradition passed down at the monastery of St. Nektarios, in Aegina, Greece, is that the Lady herself appeared before him and requested that he record on paper a particular hymn the angelic choirs were about to sing. This hymn was the "Agni Parthene".

  • This is beautiful in all languages; but Greek and Arabic (is this Arabic or Aramaic?) are my favorites

  • arabic

  • Arabic ;)

  • greetings from ortodox serbia!

  • Hey, it sounds so beautiful in arabic this hymn. Thank you for this post! God be with you all believers in Christ . From orhodox Romania with love !

  • Great religion!

  • The one, holy, catholic and apostolic church is an ecumenical message, it affords the whole world, whites, blacks, yellow people, indians, everyone and every culture and language. A chant that praises the Holy Mother of God is beautiful and meaningful in every language. The History is only meaningless detail. If some nation becomes orthodox, then it's a beautiful thing to adopt orthodox church in their language. It enhances the ecumenical character of our church.

  • Monasteries became fortresses to protect monks and laymen alike from local cut throats and thieves. Also, in regards to a cathedral, while I will admit that Christ may have been dismayed with St Basils, Hagias Sophia, and St Peter's Basilica, those structures represent civilization through architectural expression.

  • Lastly, the way in which a Byzantine cathedral was built, i.e., Hagias Sophia was extremely complex and meant for longevity. These structures were also meant to house and protect relics and other Christian artifacts as well as important texts since Alexandria had burned to the ground. Sadly, even though Hagia Sophia went through many restructuring events it was the Catholic 4th Crusade that destroyed a majority of what she had protected - early A.D. Christian texts.

  • Why would Christ be dismayed? Who are you to say so?

  • Before judging the immensity of a Byzantine cathedral, realize it was to impress upon simple as well as educated people between the Edict of Milan of 325 and into the following millennia that a place of worship should imitate as closely as possible a heavenly other worldly environment was of great importance.

  • .

God is blessing all humankind. We are His children and He is constantly leaving the 99 white sheep to search for the black one. Let us not forget that His love excedes all our narrow conceptions.

A big hug in Our Lord,

    A christian.

  • God bless all Orthodox Nations

  • Orthodox for ever!

  • God bless all orthodox.

  • I am an American and Orhtodox and a choir director in our church. We sing this music in English. Check out the Conciliar Press Web site. It is a very long poem of many verses in praise of the Theotokos, the Virgin Mary. See this translation with the original Greek as well as more audio of it being sung. May the Lord God, one in the Holy Trinity , Father, Son and Holy Spirit have mercy on us all.

  • Selybrias offspring and Aeginas guardian,

the true friend of virtue, revealed in these last times,Nekatrios let us,the faithful, praise as inspired servants of Christ;for he pours out healings of every kind for those who devoutly cry:

Glory to Christ who gave you glory!

Glory to Him who made you wondrous!

Glory to Him who through you works healings for all!

  • hay man i am an orthodox but dont dissrespect others like catholic pleaes we are all brothers

  • Respons for MADABAWI catholics are different from orthodoxes. We are following the same dogma let by Jesus. And I dont agree with the Catholics that the pope should be the ruler of the church .The ruller of the church is Jesus not The Pope. The patriarhs and the priests just help us to get to him and find the good way in life ,and help us.We have something in common with the catholics but they are different 100% btw.I am 100% orthodox and I'm proud!

  • this is beautiful its beyond words.
