if you are gonna put a solovideo on youtube then you have to use a good voicesound,. Use a sound without "touchback". a sound where you cant play 2 notes at the same time. it will sound better and more coherent. just a tip. otherwise you are good
It pains me to see an AX-7 in the hands of such an incompetent keyboardist who can't even hook such an expensive piece of equipment up to a decent sound module.
ma io mi chiedo: perchè non lo impari bene l'assolo prima di fare un video e metterlo su youtube? non per altro.... ci hai fatto una figura di merda....
How about it was completely out of time... he didn't keep a steady tempo throughout ANY of the solo.
Add to that the fact that a good part of that weren't even the right notes, and that the voice of the keyboard is terrible (and I realize that has nothing to do with playing ability).
So yeah... sounds to me like he didn't do a very good job at all. If you think it was almost perfect, I suggest you listen to the actual keyboard solo one more time.
When I said 'perfect' I was referring to the notes, not the tempo... you have to make sure you have all the right notes before you worry about tempo... And by the way he only played three or four wrong notes...
It was about £250-270 I think, knocked down from around £300 because it was a display model. But Roland have stopped making them so if you wanted one I'd say you'd need to scan eBay or somewhere similar.
hey man, don't let these guys get you down. You played the solo adequately with very few mistakes, and on a keytar for that matter. Having covered this song in mt band, I know this can be a very awkward solo to get up to full speed, and is all over the keyboard. Keep up the practice, and perhaps get some more recent sound patches/mixes, and you'll have it sounding perfect in no time. :D
One of the basic principals in playing music is to play in tempo. If you play some parts in slow tempo you should play all parts in that same slow tempo.
wow, awful attempt, you miss plenty of notes but more importantly you play with no solid rhythm at all, changing tempo seemingly at random, also bad lead tone, sonata would be embarrassed...
I hit every note that's in the tab I have. If I play it differently from how Sonata play it then that is more due to my lack of ability to learn things by ear. I know I do slow down a couple of times but there are some odd timings in there that make it sound even slower. As for the lead sound, well if you're willing to shell out a grand and a half for a Kurzweil then maybe I can improve that...
well the tab is wrong then in places, your ear should have told you that, and no you can't blame the odd timing of the solo for your poor timing... use a metronome. and obviously you can shell out 500 bucks for a roland ax-7, so for just a little more you could get a decent synth instead.
I know the tab is wrong but as I just said I'm bad at tabbing things by ear so I need to play pretty much what the tab says. And there is quite a difference between a £250 AX-7 that I'll likely never need to upgrade and a £1500 Kurzweil that will be outdated after 5 years or so.
try learning kissing in the shadows from bodom, its actually correct in guitar pro, and also learn the guitar parts too, their possible, and its quite fun to play especially if u play all the solos, guitars and keyboard a row with keyboard
There are plenty of correct Guitar Pro tabs around. I don't like to learn shreddy guitar solos on keyboard because I see it as a bit pointless. I do learn some good guitar riffs and stuff though.
yeah the rising that isn't supposed to even be in the solo but it is CAUSE GUITAR PRO IS ALWAYS RIGHT! I know that you took the tab from guitar pro cause I have seen the same tab too and it is all but right. ( please use your ear not your Gimpy guitar pro, guitar pro just tells AROUND how to play things don't thrust it!)
anyway the part where you slowed down should acually be a "shred" to F note...
I have to use Guitar Pro tabs because I'm hopeless at learning by ear. And it isn't Guitar Pro's fault that people have tabbed some things incorrectly, that program is awesome. :P
This solo has some quite odd timings in it that make it seem slow, I only really paused at the start of the first fast bit and during the big rising bit (which I'm quite bad at in general).
If you want a challenge, try learning the guitar parts of that little solo session, makes for interesting learning.
My only piece of advice is to wear the 'tar a little lower, you may not need to reach for the lower octaves much, but when you do, it's not good to cramp up your hand and slow yourself down.
Pretty well done!! But I think your breaks were partly a little to long...but never mind. Btw: great taste in music!!! Sonata > everything else^^. At the moment I'm working on the interlude of "the cage". I hope I will be able broadcast it within a few weeks.
The only times I really slowed down were before the two fast rising bits at 5 and 11 seconds. The rest were meant to be there (according to the tab I have) or just me playing stacatto to make it easier. :)
I can play the first three-quarters of the opening solo of The Cage! :D
really good, but, sounds like guitar pro :/

Nice... I suggest using sustain voice, dual voice or echo tools on whatever synthesizer you're using.
My keyboard has a voice called Fantasy that I use whenever I cover Sonata Arctica... But my keyboard doesn't even have a pitch shifter.

musical term for playing smoothly, like hammer-on's and pull off's when playing guitar
