  • This is where im going in case of a zombie apocalypse, they know how to deal with dead people :)

  • how bad would that house smell!!!

  • this our culture , so we are so proud to do this thing.

  • Killing 100 buffalo for some old woman ?? fuck that is not right

  • @irishelk3 At least they will eat the meat.

  • eww, these people make me throw up, ugly from the inside and out. They look like shit and their heart is heart of stone.

  • @MsCatskittens seriously? i think its sorta gross, but its their culture, and thats just the way they do things. Other people think its gross that 'western' cultures let people wear shorts in public....what do you say to that?

  • @milkyway531 um no, it's also unsanitay.. if the family member dies of a disease, it may be passed to the other members.. not to mention even if it is preserved, if a mistake is made, what's going to be attracted? Mice, rats, all sorts of animals that attract pestilence, and plague... shorts don't do that.... and don't start with the 'immorality' bs.. countries with burkas have higher rates of rape than those with shorts...

  • @MsCatskittens are you white because only ya'll bad about the indigenous

  • how disgusting and unpure. I demand this to be illegal. Such a disgrace to human race and culture.

  • @MsCatskittens You say that, but if I can assume you're not a vegetarian, other cultures consider eating meat as barbaric full stop.

  • @MsCatskittens fuck off!

  • @doubledostiev That is a very interesting observation. Do you study psychology?

  • did the family ever stop to think that, the money spent on the funeral could have gone to feeding themselves and their children.Religious superstition is getting out of hand.when are people in all nations going to come into the 21st century and stop believing in myths that are irrelevent in this day and age?

  • It's very culturally chauvinistic to condem the slaugter of 100 water buffalo when the US slaughters tens of thousands every day in factory settings. So what if these animals are slaughtered in honor of her, they are raised for food and are then eaten. It is symbolic sacrifice, nothing is wasted. I am appauled by the killing of anything for it's flesh, but don't be so arrogant.

  • This video is an amazing example of the way in which rituals become traditions. The social act conducted within this culture regarding funerary rights increases social cohesion by fostering a more egalitarian wealth distribution through water buffalo sacrifice.

  • thats just fuckin wrong! i couldnt watch the whole thing. i know they got different beliefs cause of the culture but to me thair beliefs are pretty fuckin sick

  • Do what you want with the dead person, but seriously-- leave the animals out of it!

  • The fuck?! That shit is fucked up

  • That's no coffee table... that's grandma!

  • nasty as hell! :(

  • killed 100 buffalo? no wonder they to heaven or hell

  • i'd rather die unpeacefully than killing 100 buffalo

  • Throw that bitch in the backyard...

  • just throw my dead harvested body in a box and huck me in the ground.

  • For me, the worst part about it were the sacrifices of 100?? buffalos. That really made me angry.

  • That is friggin backwards....

  • illogical culture

  • Might be better then a blowup doll O_Out seriously this must smell and is so naief thinking.

  • The corpse family sounds like The Addams family

  • I cant watch the sacrifices, holy shit.

  • I believe in respect for the dead, but an expensive funeral is a sad, sick rip-off,regardless of what country you live/die in. Walt Disney chose a very small, very private funeral service because he said he wanted people to remember him "alive". I quite agree with that thought...

  • response to frostythesn0wman

    so... ur scared of food?

  • but thoe are dead bodies ?

  • I'm scared of dead bodies, I wouldn't have one in my house

  • Same

  • kudos for

    erin517

--i love their houses ..lol...very unique

  • The pain of the dying water buffalo was agonizingly apparent. What an appalling waste of life!

And what heart-wrenching screams from the pigs, from 0:48 to 1:03!

  • go suck a dick. your love of animals > culture? that's going way too far. go join peta and send more fly traps to obama

  • They kept the meat

  • there are no statuses in paradise

  • Poor Buffalos!!!!

  • dont judge, tradition runs different in every culture and should be given respect,

  • you'd be fucked off if you had no idea who that woman was but you had to carry around a ridiculously over elaborate coffin for ages, like some guy coming back from a fishing trip for 6 months (they walk everywhere) and then boom, gotta carry around a small house for a wile, be pretty frustrating

  • Sick fuckers killing all those buffalo just for that stupid hag

  • disgusting

  • very strange the way the do things

  • all that nonsense when the grandmother is just a rotting decaying mess in the ground somewhere. Its a interesting custom with no real benefit the sting and pain of death still remains.

  • Is it any diff. than Americans who embalm the body and lavish clothing and expensive coffins to prevent the body from decaying? Same thing. The body should return to the dust...not be embalmed.

  • That's why in Cambodia, we cremate people. It cost less money and since Buddhism forbids attachment to material possession, it doesn't have to be lavish.

  • when you cremate people more than one person is with the one you had cremated

  • At least the buffalo meat wasnt gone to waste..

  • her great aaaaaauuuuunt

  • people grew up in this culture must not afraid of death or corpse that much.

  • Wait... what about maggots?

  • I think embalming would prevent maggots.

  • animal cruelty....

  • shut up

  • poor buffalos... is that really necessary? poor thing

  • Sadly, its done in Asia (the Muslim parts)a lot without question as its part of Islam..to let the animal bleed to death (Halal).

  • theyre not muslims theyre pagans like yourself

  • I see more "mis-info" e-IDIOTS making stuff up. Keep at it buddy, cause those who are too stupid to do their own research, isn't worth convincing... Your an excellent filtering system (^_*)

  • OoOOoOH so just cause the animals die by "bleeding to death" Would you prefer if the goats/sheeps were taken to an all expense paid free trip to Hawaii, and than whilst asleep Mr. Goat can have a pillow to the face... If they'd die this way, will makes it less tasty?

As a matter of FACT, meat is healthiest when the blood is expelled from the animals body. Research

    research research

research research research research research research research research rese

  • muslims don't eat pig and they have two bury if possible within 24hours. It is also against the religion to blow cash on lavish funerals.

  • @Amickel

    Theyre sacraficing it for honor.

Plus theyre giving it to the guests.

This is a good thing, so stop being so "PETA" on us.

    >.>

  • @Amickel i am toraja people. its not necessary but its important thing to do. Basically it is mean like 0:23..but as the christianity come to toraja buffalo slaughtering means for simbolize the sadness of the lost. and also for keep the existance of our ancestor tradition..

  • That really has to smell.

  • My Aunt in Vietnam died and that had to wait till a saturday to do the funeral and since they were poor she had to stay in the house for 3 days. Even after 3 days it STUNK like a mofo. X_X

  • Interesting footage....!

  • ffs

  • the easir for the soul to reach PARADISE........TRUE THAT

  • scary

  • when i die i want my fiance to keep me in the house for three months and then throw me a biggg party!!, no jk. hahaha.

  • wow sacrife 100 buffalo just for a decease woman. weird.

  • FFS -_-

  • lol

  • Why must they kill the buffalo so slowly?

  • "death needs time for what it kills to grow in"

  • it's a culture.one of hundreds Indonesian culture. They still originaly kept that culture and so it call unique or whatever you guys did say.Hey guys..is your country have culture?(except:free sex, clubing, drunk, and drugs etc. that did spreaded to the east.Culture make us different so u can recognize it,culture too make us dressed up till now

  • Awkward...

  • He's cute^_~ And he seems really sweet to care that much for his dead relative.

  • Y CANT U JUST BURN THE BODY

    THEN BURY IT

  • Indeed, I never said I was being closed minded, I just dont wanna be...even though I CLEARLY AM! I acknowledge that. But yeah, I'm not gonna change my opinion.

  • I can't stand the way these cultures treat animals. I'm not trying to be closed minded, I just find it awful. They need to move on with the times.

  • that is the most ignorant thing i heard off even when you say youre not trying to be. people always say "move on" but this is culture. you can not just decide to abandon your life and culture.

  • Indeed.

    Thanks =D

  • the way they treat animals? you think western culture dresses them up and uses them for a noble purpose? or share them for free afterwards? I mean last time i checked, a slaughterhouse was missing some of those key practices

  • Rights before culture. Well, once animals actually get unviersal rights at all, that is.

  • Poor buffalo :(

  • wow, those people must be in serious denial!!!!

  • agree +1

  • That just blows me away. I know human life is valuable, but holy buffalos! If they are going to sacrifice the water buffalo, they should kill em quick & painless.

  • they better have a lot of Febreze

  • ...i highly doubt the sprite of that woman, would want her family to spend hundreds of dollars to bury her.

i wouldnt want my family to go into debt just to bury my body.

  • hell I like the buffalo species when its alive but i like em better as a steak.....sorry peta

  • yes poor watter buffalos, but do we eat meat? i'm sure they suffer the same way.

  • wtf the poor water buffalos

  • poor water buffalos...this has made me sad.

  • The Water Buffalos looks so sad. I wonder how killing can bring someone to paradise?

  • its called BBQ, that shit will take me to paradise with each smoky bite :)~ mmmmmm

  • beautiful, this is so similar to my culture, but we don't sacrifice 100 cows, we only sacrifice maybe 5 or 7 cows to honor the decease. cool

  • send me a steak :)~ lol

  • i second that :3

  • wtf dont kill the water buffalo!

  • that is why i hate religion...but we have to respect their culture.

  • its sad to see so much disdain and intolerance towards other races and cultures. i'm American, and when my mother died in 2001 we couldn't even afford a casket and headstone for her, and instead of leaving her in an unmarked grave and ugly box she would have hated, we cremated her and kept her ashes with us at home until we were able to give her a more proper burial with the dignity she deserved. this is called respect.

  • well said sir.

  • haobi, they embalm it and a whole bunch of other stuff so it wont decay so quickly

  • How do they keep the corpose for so long without any sign of decay?

  • OMG!

  • ignorant people

  • We are all ignorant my friend, or do you think the hiding of death like we do in the west (unless it is gruesome and thus newsworthy) is 'superior' to people acknowledging and living with it?

  • Not to beat you up. Just want to know how we HIDE death. Are you talking about murder & corruption? Just trying to get my head around your thoughts.

  • You really should elaborate.

  • wtf, iw as caught off guard when they ACTUALLY FILMED the killing of the cows... i DID NOT want to see their blood pouring out of their THROAT! stupid ass humans... killing 100 cows for "paradise"? more like waste of ANIMALS but i guess thats how steak comes but i did not want to see how my meat is MADE.

  • Wow ... lost of people that think this is 'wrong' or 'stupid' It makes me sad to see how people have no respect for anyone but themselfs and thier own religions. It also shows a lot of people are pretty close-minded about other countries, religions, and people. for me this is actualy pretty cool how they treat thier dead, never acting like they have died only that they have grown ill. Its amazing, really.

  • except the part when they slit 100 cow throats and cut them up in open places.

  • Damn, learning of other cultures is great. I think it's amazing as well.

  • In my opinion, It is nice to see that they respect the dead but, we do have to face reality. The woman was dead. I think we have a hard time with the killing of the buffalo. The one thing that kind of settled it for me was that the meat got eaten. Did we get thier opinion on our way of living? What is thier opinion on us?? That's a question I'd like to have answered.

  • wtf

  • what a fucking waste of food. 3 meals a day served to a dead person?? oh and for the people that think the animal killings were wrong think about what you eat on a daily basis morons. and its not like they waste the food.

  • Comment removed

  • That would suck ass if you had 8 of your family members die at the same time if you were them then.

  • Human race is over dramatic and pathetic.

  • u r human, dumbell...and u haven't traveled all over the world, so please don't make any quick summaries...<-(...means that i have more to add, but im nice enough not to)

  • I know i'm human, and i'm stupid.

And where did this word "dumbell" come from??

  • which country do u come from? that will answr the question...

  • I'm from Texas.

  • Try northern younger ppl for a change.

  • wow, Texas is a country now? i guess i missed the memo.

    [/sarcasm]

  • I think it is sad that the animals die, and I think the smell of the dead body would gross me out. I can't imagine eating while looking at one of my family member's dead body. @~@

  • I actually think that when you die, the less possestions that you have, the more benefit you will recieve from giving your things away before you die.

  • so they complain about being in poverty and they continue to do this?

  • This(Indonesia) is a country that respects its elders unlike the U.S. which is why you don't get it. They actually honor their old people. And who is complaining about being in poverty?

  • the people of moses times did animal sacrifise as well... whats so different about that? yea its a ritual, i dont like it either, but hey its their way of life=d paganistic way of life

  • man thatd suck if you were going through some tough times and someone dies, then a little while later someone else and so on. lol that'd sure complicate life a bit eh, having all them cadaver's backing up like that just cause you cant afford to throw them a bitchin send off lol it'd run your family into destitute!!!

  • This is stupid

  • These people disgust me!

  • Richinator no i does not it shows that people belive in old traditons

  • yet another proof that mankind is ignorant

  • Gotta eat. But slotter 100 animals so that she can have it all in the afterlife. That's kind of selfish too, isn't it. Oh...well. Ever culture is very diffetent. We should just aree to disagree.

  • yeah we should agree that every culture - ours included - has seriuosly messed up ways or traditions

  • Well universal human rights should be respected, regardless of culture or religion. Rights before tradition/religion, after all. But other than that, hey, whatever, keep your dead realtive in the house lol/

  • the mourners ....EAT THE MEAT..DAMNIT isn't beef part of what you eat in mcdonalds??..subway??

wtf is wrong with you whiny bastards?

  • The morners keep the meat....so whats the big deal it's not wasted

  • alll i gotta say is peuu

  • What the fuck are you saying again?

  • yeah seriously, why is everyone so OMG 100 buffulos killed for a funeral!! It's their cultural that's what they believe. So get over it.

  • It's just terrible that people have the urge to KILL and destroy all the time... They worship God, love God, and pray to that fucking GOD, but at the mean time, what they do is DESTROY what that goddamn GOD created for them.

  • which is called: Hypocrisy

  • why so much comments? just let it be. this particular tribe in indonesia have their rituals - i think we should respect their beliefs.

  • 100 Animals is equivalent to one human soul?...Never thought of that. But I find ritual sacrifices are somewhat, just plain cruel.

  • not so. they didnt waste the meat so it wasnt as though they just killed them. it's no different from any abbatoir (if thats how you spell it) around the world.

  • killing animals for a fucking funeral? some humans are so phucking stupid, it amazes me.

  • wow thats fucking unsanitary. disease much?

  • I guess thats how the family expresses their love for her

  • At least they dont waste the meat....

    but DAMN 100 animals!!!

That is way too many, try 4 or 5 just to feed each other but 100!!!

But hey, who am I to judge, I dont wanna think about how many cows had to die for me to eat or even waste!!

  • FUCK SAKE! 100 Freaking buffalos for just one death?

At first I thought it was only like 5 or something ... that still would have been fine, but 100s just messed up

  • but, did they offer her any buffalo shit? They do eat buffalo shit in thailand you know! Not besides that shit is good for you, well buffalo shit anyways, it has lots of undigested proteins that your body can use, try some one day, i bet you will agree. :p

  • Cool funeral. But I didn't like the water buffalos dying.

  • lol

  • What is funny about that? Are you just freaked about it for do you find it genarally funny?

  • 'yeah, i'm looking for alittle of the shoulder number for my wife, oh no wait a minute, SHE's DEAD

  • silly mortals

  • I concur

  • dude...

  • yea man..just to feed the dead, they kill over 100 of live animals? why cant they just buy a fish and done with it.?

  • i feel bad for those 100 buffalo

  • wow feeding the dead.....that is a waste of food big time like what tornmuscle said that is just a waste

  • I thought this was pretty cool until they started killing 100 buffalo. I hope a meteor hits their country.

  • its just tradition, granted that doesnt necessarily make it right but at least the meat didnt go to waste...

  • That's a little drastic.

  • logannnnn13, you are disgusting.

  • Ha. Feeding the dead. What a waste of food.

  • i love the Natinal Giogiaphic channal
