Im using this song for an english project on the Book Thief, and it fits perfectly with an event in the book. Great band, this is the first I've heard of Earth and Fire, certainly won't be the last :D
Gate to infinity....dat is ook zo'n juweeltje...prachtig, deze L.P. met o.a. 78th av.maar met werkelijk pareltjes, helaas niet te vinden op U.T...who knows...
Geweldige groep!! Ik was 18 jaar toen..en gek van Earth and Fire. Nu ik het weer hoor klinkt het me nog heerlijk in de oren..wat was dit voor die tijd al goed!!!
@tryingoutmusic Sure: Super Sister, CCC Inc., The Nits, Flue, Cats. Plus many bands I don't know too well, just a few songs: Motions, Hunters, Q-65, Outsiders, Sandy Coast..... all really old bands, from the 60/70s.
@tryingoutmusic Yes, quite a lot. There are many bands, but from the era of Earth & Fire I can mention Brainbox (fantastic version of Summertime), Focus (you may know Hocuspocus), of course the Golden Earring, Shocking Blue (I mention it because of their hit Venus), of course our own polderbluesband Cuby & The Blizzards (cover versions but also a number of real good Blues originals), Livin' Blues, Alquin, Solution, I have to stop otherwise I become nostalgic.....
laten we zeggen dat m.n. haar stem "bijgeschaafd" is in deze video...elke overeenkomst tussen lippen en stem berust op louter toeval...grappig! maar jammer.
Memories of the early 70s come flooding back. First heard this group on Radio Caroline. This song and Storm and Thunder absolutely brilliant. Still have two LPs from them, "Atlantis" and "Superstarshine Vol 2." Whatever happened to girl singer Jerney Kaagman?
Doodgewoon,, RETE GOED... Krijg er gewoon heimwee van.. (naar de geweldige bands uit die tijd.. en wat ze dus ook zomaar life speelden/zongen)... Met dank aan Felix van der Kuy voor de geweldige London City Gear... Waar blijft de tijd?
God I love the Internet! I have wanted to see this band ever since the days of buying their LPs back in the 70s`after hearing them underneath the bedsheets on Radio Caroline when I should have been asleep due to school next day! Thanks again to the person who uploaded this to YouTube.
The description says "From "Swing In", July 8th 1972". But what is Swing in? I searched around on google, but I end up only getting references to this video.
I'd love to find a more higher quality version of this clip (maybe an mp3 of it as well?), but I don't know where to find that.
I've only heard the original album version of this song but this live version is excellent -- very powerful indeed. E&F were one of the first groups I discovered when I got back into prog rock after a lot of years away from it. Great memories and great music.
@borgduck no one in this group ever joined Kayak. Later on, in the late eighties Ton Scherpenzeel, joined Earth and Fire. But that was much later than this film was shot.
I am sorry about your father. My father died some month ago.
I like this song a lot too, this song is enormeus, like in the wake of Poseidon from Crimson, like some Genesis, Mia, Crack, Museo rosenbach, etc songs
This is one of the best compositions I have ever heard from Holland. At equal height as Chappaqua (Solution) or Judy goes on Holiday (Supersister).....
Propably the best song ever written bij a Dutch band. And no that's not Ton Scherpenzeel but one of the Koerts twins who started this band Earth & Fire. The whole albums is magnificent and the made more masterpieces like the album Atlantis.
They had over 15 hitsingles in the Netherlands thru the seventies and begin eigties. The leadsinger Jerney Kaagman became later the chairman (woman) if the Dutch Union for Artists. She was a sex-symbol for many boy and she posed for Playboy.
i have never expect to see this on youtube. thanks a lot. this is one of my favorite song. do you have more part? if you have, please upload more. - a fan from korea, living in nyc.
VERY GOOD.
