Bruno looks so strong here. I hate British boxing presentation, it's so gawdy, cheap and ugly. Lacks the glamour of the US that drew in disadvantaged african american youths.

Good fighter, Bruno. Sure, he had his flaws but the division was tougher then. Had he got past smith he would've fought Holmes. He should've beaten Witherspoon. And then there was Tyson. Then Lewis. If he was at his peak right now he might (possibly) have even unified the title.

Looking at Allen here its pretty clear he had a great physique and could box. I reckon Allen would clean out the british HW division today with the exception of Tom Dallas who is young and developing. Allen could give paper chin Haye a fright too he seems a bad asshole

Allen was a grade one asshole for going in with the head like that, against Bruno AND Bugner. Both gave him the good pasting he so sorely deserved.

If you watch Bruno here his almost like the fighter he was as an amateur, very agrressive and on the front foot and looking to upload massive uppercuts and hooks....By the mid 80's Tibbs had him fighting in an extremely upright fashion and overusing his left lead.....George Francis did him help later on but the damage was done.

Winston showed a damn good right hand and certainly tested Bruno's chin. If Bruno couldn't take one, he would not have made it out that first round.

thanks. bruno only 15' 7'' and looked a lot better for that too, rather than static muscle bound 'body beatufil' he became. relutant to throw right at all in 1st rnd strangely.

Zendo, Great Stuff! Good to see this one again after all these years! Note how easy Allen is able to reach Frank with the right hand. Never did correct that lack of head and waist movement in Bruno's style and it cost him dearly later on. Still, to this day i remember seeing bruno fight live at wembley arena. He stopped a bloke named george scott. Ken buchanan fought on the same bill that nite and lost an 8 rounder on points.

That's a bit harsh. Yes he fought some crap opponents but he defeated Gerrie Coetzee and Oliver McCall. He also gave Witherspoon and Lennox Lewis decent fights.

I remember when I first heard of Bruno. Being here from the States, I never got to see any of these early fights. I read of him in KO magazine and couldn't wait to see him fight. Then comes the Bonecrusher fight on NBC where Bruno was doing good until falling apart late.
