  • the greatest action film director of all time. on par with Leone and Peckinpah. it sucks that most of his movies are virtually unavailable in the uk, all of the dvds by HKL are out of print, but now Cine-Asia have bought the label, i hope they listen to my plea and re-release the classic HK action films...

  • @JOSKE123100 you can get them easly on amazon UK from private sellers for cheap prices, i got Hard-Boiled and Bullet in the Head there and i live in Sweden! So it should be even easier for you who live in the UK

  • I was actually thinking it would be cool to do a musical in John Woo's style, and he's already thought of it 3 years ago...awesome!

  • John Woo has to be my all time favorite director!

  • i love Jhon woo and his is a one of the great director

    ever .

thank you from indian hart .

  • john woo is the master of gun fights, no reloading or losing ammo, and got hit with bullets but still not dead(main character)

  • You know that awful movie called Max Payne? John Woo should have directed that. In fact, make it a Hong Kong production, that way Hollywood can't screw with the film.

  • Genius. The man is a genius. The greatest filmmaker since Sergio Leone.

  • i love this guy

  • where is LU BU in red cliff we want LU BU the best movie if ever seen in my life redcliff 1 and 2 we want 3 you should tell us about the old battels when LU bu was in it

  • @vitoq8y

lu bu was long dead when incident of red cliff happen....

  • Larga vida a John Woo, el maestro de la acción. John Woo rockssssss

  • John Woo Is One Of My 10 Favorites FilmMakers Of All Time!!!!!...

  • WOW!!! Woo and Chou gonna work again!!!

  • I loved the slow motion in Hard Target. It is his best American film.

  • Face/Off was better

  • Agreed. Face/Off is too slick and pretty, too much of a Hollywood Blockbuster, which isn't what John Woo's all about. Hard Target was gritty and more true to the kind of movie John Woo really makes.

  • John, Red Cliff SUCKED! what are you doing to Chinese history?!?!?!!

  • Get a grip, spybungo. Since when was a historical film ever 100% accurate...

  • i agree with you mate. but i think the movie had a very weak plot.

  • I actually loved it. Not the best from John, but nevertheless not bad. I don't know the history, but his way of introducing the many characters (which makes it really easy to fall into the trap of not letting the audience get to know them). It's a very hard thing to tell such a story with so many different distinctive character in only 2 hours.

  • So how do you judge the novel, Romance of The Three Kingdoms? The novel was written several hundred years ago. You have read it and you know there are a lot of historically incorrect parts in the novel. However, it is acclaimed as one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. People love the novel. They also brought it to the opera stage. It is a great success.

If the movie is exactly historically correct, do you think it will be interesting?

  • Hello! It must be historically correct.

In eu the western states have a lot of historically incorrect sources(codex etc)

They made the nomads the big evil killers and forget about the roman empires bloody times..

  • If you accept Luo Guanzhong's novel Romance of The Three Kingdoms, why can you not accept John Wu's Red Cliff? You can learn history from textbook. However, there is always some reasons why people make movies and novels.
