Have used trijacon , meprolight , XS , and the Tru Glo TFO out performs them all for brightness and with the fiber optic is great for daytime also . The others you can not see during the day. I still prefer my XS sights on my 3" 1911. Very good for a compact for me .

@rosebudteg .... I sold the one with the trijicons so no long term review for it, but I still carry the other and they are still real bright and I have no complaints on the size being an issue. So far so good

A little off topic but oh well. For a close range sight I would go with the Tru Glo TFO, due to the fiber optics. I would not go with the Trijicon PISTOL sights, but would go with their ACOG and Accupoint.

@NeoNSPETSNAZ ....so your saying you like the tru-glo for your pistol, and the trijicon for your rifle? I know of no ACOG for a pistol? ACOG's are nice, but they are fixed power. I have a aimpoint with detachable aimpoint magnifier on one of my AR's. I have videos up of the set-up. Check out my channel.

Technically I am not allowed to legally own a pistol or rifle, as I am only 14 years old. My opinions are just that-opinions. The Trijicon Accupoint is (higher) power than the ACOG. I have a Tru-Glo TFO on my father's 1100, as we do alot of early morning hunting and generally hunt all day. I just like the TFO due to the ability to be illuminated during the day. I know that Trijicon makes a mini ACOG (MM03) made for the Sturm&Ruger Mini-14, so it *MIGHT* work on a pistol see 2nd cmmnt

Sorry, I ran out of characters. I ( as in my father) do not own any Trijicon products or any other tritium illuminated products besides my prized Luminox 3051 Watch (mine, not my fathers). That watch I recieved BEFORE my father bought the Truglo TFO front sight, and that watch got me interested in the illuminating properties of tritium. I would like an ACOG or Accupoint but would like something for short and long range shooting (12 power scope). I will check out your other video. Thanks!

Have you ever had any run-ins with the truglo tritium only sights? I found a pair & can't really find shit about em on YT. I would just like to know if they are about as good as the Trijicons you have.

@brad6479 ...Outside in the daylight the tru-glo's are a bright green and easy to see. I personally dont really shoot my carry gun in broad daylight. I'm limited to indoor ranges and 2 gun drills which occur at night. At night the tru-glo's are not bad. The trig is regular white dot during the day and at night they glow green, plus they are way smaller than the tru-glo's. So it's easy to see in low light, like a indoor range. They both have tritium in them causing the glow effect.

the reason they glow during the day is because of the rods being fiber optic. they take a avalible light and channel it to the end of the rods.

I had “Tru Glo TFO” on my SIG P226, replaced'em in two month with “Trijicon” because fiber inserts become loose & eventually I've lost them during exercise in desert. Now I use “Trijicon” for more than two years, so far no single problem, they are very bright, like'em. Want to give a try to new “Trijicon HD Night sights”.

@yandexiridium ....lemme know how you like the HD's if you get them. The guy who installed my TFO's said the rods would crack and dull if I got any gun cleaner or oils on them. I took his advise and have never got any oils or cleaner on them and they are still good after a year now. Hope they last. Thanks for the info.

tijicons have tridium in them as well. Tridium is mildly radioactive and does not need to be charged.

The sites don't have to be charged by sunlight. Tritium is a radioactive hydrogen isotope and will glow for about 12-15 years. Also all tritium is suppled by Trijicon to all other suppliers. Trijicon has the contract with the Government and the others do not. Also the TFO's have fiber optic strands in them that pick up the ambient light and conduct it to the sights which is why they get brighter.

All Trijicon night sights have tritium. They do not need to be charged. If installed by a competent gunsmith Trijicon warranties them for 12 years. Cheers!

I've got the Tru-Glo tritium on my Glock29 and I love them. I get BreakFree all over them every time I clean and I have absolutely no dulling of the green rods. I can see them clearly in super bright Arizona sunlight and they glow like a mofo even in pitch black darkness. They are big, but they are rounded off and sit low on the slide. I have never snagged them on anything.

I carry in an Uncle Mikes holster similar to yours that I got for $12. Don't even feel the gun when I carry. lol

The tritium rods in both are probably the same size. That extra length is a fiber optic rod to take advantage of any ambient light. That's why there's the overhead exposure and also why they're also green and appear brighter. TFO = Tritium Fiber Optic.

I have a Trijicon front on my SW340.  I think the white rim is a nice compromise for less bulk. I have the TFOs on my XD SC tho. Like those just as much though.

Both sights have Tritium in them. Tritium is a radioactive isotope of hydrogen. It is an odorless, tasteless, colorless gas that reacts with the human body in the same manner as natural hydrogen. Beta rays from the tritium hit phosphors to create the glow you see. Tritium has a half-life of 12.5 years, which means that in that time the lamp will be half as bright as it originally was. You'll never have to charge them.

@lmglocks I had a old gen 2 G30 with the flat black coating and no acc. rail with a lasermax guide spring rod. I wish I never sold it. I like the flat black old coating better. It did scratch easier though, but I really liked the looks of it.

Did you install the TFO truglo yourself? was it easy to install?

No I had my GlockSmith do it. He did it for 10 bucks, and he installed front sight with Loctite, so it had to cure for a day before shooting. He is the guy who told me about being careful of getting solvent and oil in the TFO's.

Nope the rear is installed with a "sight tool". They are press fit.

Front has a small bolt.
