First off let me be the first to say: I'm definitely not very tech savvy. Now what is killing me is that there are HOW MANY vids explaining how easy it is to program Boom? And not one single vid explains how to lay a pattern down on to a track. I keep getting blank blocks.
A drum machine that only uses default sounds. smh...If I could import my own shit, I would produce entirely inside of Pro-Tools...until then, reWire is my friend
Only issue I have with this... I can't pronounce "awesome" properly now - it just has to be "arse-some" (04:21) all the way! But seriously, odd accents aside, great tutorial... I've watched 'em all!

@bezee003 sorry, I misunderstood something the guy in the vid said. anyway, you could try having two separate drum tracks (if thats possible, idk) and using one of them for just the kick, and change the kick sound on that one
is there a way / shortcut to select quickly the previous or next sound of the list of a plugin (boom or another virtual instrument)? I always use the drop down box, but that is very very slow. I see the guy doing the same, but it would be so much quicker to just use the up/down arrows or something similar.
U need at least 7.4 to upgrade to 8. Now there is a patch to pt8 to make it 8.0.3. U need that for win7. But u also have to download the 8.0.4 audio drivers if u have a 003 or like. It will continue to crash if u don't....... Trust me, I was ready to throw all of my equipment out the window after buying a new computer with win7! Total PITA!!!
my goodness. It would be nice if it did, but sadly, no. In fact, Pro tools cannot even be purchased in and of itself. It is only included with the purchase of a digidesign hardware device such as the mbox or some other hardware component.
I don't think so ... it's available at best buy (in-store and online) for $249.99 ... also at guitar center for $239.99. It's just that you need an M-Audio audio interface ($150 - $500 at guitar center) to use with the software.
@Jammidodga96 no, not standard on MAC, but the lowest cost solution just uses some kind of usb key with a headphone output. That can get you started if you want.
I'm having problems installing version 8 on Windows 7. There is a update but you have to have version 8 installed before the update . What should I do?
@rushaa Im not clear on what you mean when you say "there is an update.." Do you mean an update for pro tools 8 or for windows 7? If you mean for windows 7, check with the digidesign website to make sure the update for windows is compatible with pt8. If you mean to say there is an update for pt8 on your windows 7 machine, you should already have pt8 installed, no? Are you trying to install an update for pt8 without first having pt8 installed?
can u import other drum sounds into this, say if u buy a drum pack could u slap it into boom n fuck about with it or is it limited to the sounds it cums with?
fl studio is really good in terms of composing.. u get ideas very fast
i`m switching to pro tools :) (after using cubase too) but i started with fl studio since version 3 , now version 9 is the latest:).. and i pretty much maxed it out... but still mising the pro sound altough i think i achieved everything i could
i`m gettin pro tools in a day :D can`t way to try it out
just wondering if anybody can answer me..can u use it standalone without any needing that audio interface? i'm using my soundcard and asio4all.. so i just plug and play record.. im currently using this mixcraft and acid pro which kinda suck balls.. any help... thanks..
it depends on which system of pro tools you use......if you are you using M-powered , you will need an M-audio interface for sure...im not so sure about the other two
M-Powered - M-Audio interface and LE needs digidesign interface. I think pro tools LE comes with digidesign gear. I doubt youll be going Pro Tools HD lol
Right...we REAL musicians are losers because we took the time to learn how to play our instruments as well as extensive music theory. You plug into your laptop, snatch up some music samples, smash 'em together & call it a 'song'. If your computer dies out during a gig, you're fucked. If the lights go out while I'm playing, I grab my acoustic & pick up where I left off. Owned.
Logic kills Pro Tools in every single way, the only thing pro tools is good for is the hd system... And you just use logic with that and you're sorted
is it me or boom really sucks.. i find it REAL CHEESY. anyone got good stuff out of it?? I got my pt 8 boom is thin sounding... i think this guy does shit to the sound to make it appear good sounding.. can someone change my view on boooooom
I take back what i said. I primarily use PT for hip hop.. I just copped me some nexus sounds and xpansions.. used a lil boom and blew me away.. sorry boom lovers.,. i like it now :0

FL IS BETTER!
bivanski 2 years ago
@bivanski are you freaking serious? shall i laugh to the death.
FL studio. why it is better... it's easier, but theres SOOOO many bad sides.
it's made really simple, but u can mostly do ELECTRIC music in there.
if u want to do smthing like own rock song with REAL guitars and stuff... the program can't handle it.
it can't hande so much at a time.
so. Protools is like made for BIGGER music makers. and who has the skill in there.
likely.
