  • very well done. good tom work. I use a custom zildjian cymbols and i was wondering what yours are. Actually the only thing that annoyed me about this video is in my opinion you should have a thin or medium thin crash near your snare so that you don't need to go all the way to the right and back while doing a quick fill you know. Just saying but whatever yo like haha

  • NICE KIT BRO!

  • Badass dude makes me want to get my drums out and start playing again.

  • What brand of cymbals?........we may never know.

  • @TheZombieXecutioner2 Everything is A-Custom - except one standard zildjian 18 inch med crash between h-hat & 1st tom - one sabian 18 inch med crash between tom 1 & 2 - one 20 inch paiste 2002 heavy rock ride, far right lower - and one 18 inch paiste 2002 china, far right upper

  • Nice Job! I think I'm gonna listen to this tune and try it.(rush fan since 75, never really cared for Tom Sawyer but it is growing on me) I like the POLISHED cymbals.I do that too but they dont stay shiny all that long.(2 months) Any tips? P E A C E!

  • That is fucking CRAZY!! Great job Bro!! I'm a guitar player, not many drummers make my mouth drop, but Neil is one, keep it up Dude!!

  • That was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! WELL DONE!!!!!!

  • Damn Dude, you are SICK.... This is my favorite song, I just took up the drums a month ago, and Neil is MY idol.... i got alot of work to do, but just invested $1700 in a new Pearl Set, and ive watched your video at least 20 times, its very helpful, thanks!!! How long did it take you to get this good at this song??

  • @JustinJustin2929 thanks for the comment!! I learn every song I play by ear and trust me it takes a WHILE to to hear and play every little note Niel does in this song...i'm guessing this song took me probly 3 months but thanks again for your comment!

  • Great job!

    Down with SOPA!

  • What I hate most is that its illegal to post videos like this. Not that I think rush would sue a kid for posting his tribute version to show skill, but the record company sure can sue for infringement because he's overlaying the original track and its audible. I think thats just terrible, its why I don't upload any of my overlays. The DRM took all the fun away from youtube.

Great cover man, Im sure Neil himself would love it and support you. Burn the record companies.

  • Very good not going to lie but try it without Double Bass

  • That kicked ass!

  • Really great job. Keep it up.

  • the only 2 criticisms i can make on this; 1, seems like this was edited over a few takes, but whatever, clearly you have the skill. 2, avoid the double pedal when you can do this song single-foot on the bass drum.

    aside of that, great job!!

  • @lobotomystitches Hello - I'm Michaels Dad and I recorded this and all his other videos...This video and all his others are one take... not several takes spliced together. The processor on our old laptop computer we recorded this with struggled to capture all the video frames. Recorded with Pinnacle Studio software .. captures at 30 frames per second. Some parts of the song only skipped a few frames at a time but occasionally skipped 15 or more FPS ... That's what your seeing.. Not editing

  • @lobotomystitches Michael is a 3rd generation drummer... My Dad is pretty good but for what ever reason I'm better than him and Michael is better than me.... So if he wants to play double bass parts that sound as good as this ... I believe 100% that it ADDS to the display of his talent. I know I'm his Dad but I have to say this kid is gifted!

  • Well, that's the best cover on the net no doubt, just right cover please, np thoough

  • very nice, it is evident that you have spent a great deal of time gettiing this part precise.

  • it didnt say cover in the title so i actually thought was him! nice job

  • Couple mistakes only. Really nice!! Thumbs up to you! Loved it for real... Which band do you play?

  • 3:21 you messed up :P still better than me though, nice job bro.

  • are those sabian paragons?

  • @randomdude1426 I have 1 Sabian and the rest are Ziljian A Customs

  • You're playing is very precise and well done. It'd be interesting to see how you apply yourself in other situations.

  • @MorkaGraven thanks!

  • what cymbals are you using?

  • @DrummerStuffable Zildjian A Customs

  • @MrLennon231 cheers bro

  • Excellent job, nice set up ,nicely tuned skins, great cymbals.

great role model . . . . . Peart is such a great musician to try to cover , every song is such a challenge not to mention a work out mentally and physically . . . . thank God for Neil Peart!

  • It is not impossible to play this song note for note , many can do it, however it is not as easy as this guy makes it look , you'll need a lot of endurance , the magic in this song is not so much playing it as much as it is inventing it , that is where Peart continuously proves his perfection and pure genius in percussion, it is one thing to play it it is quite another to create something that every other drummer feels they have to try to play too ,like climbing the highest mountain GREAT WORK!

  • dude...awesome....and i that meytal could play it...you rawked that shit out....TOM IS YO BITCH.....LOL

  • ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT . congrats.

  • Bravo!!!!

  • 17 Retards dont have a clue about hard work and the many hours of practice it take to master this piece

  • What kind of kit do you have man?

  • @IMrRealism DW

  • "Playing at Air Canada Centre, Toronto on Feb 26, 2012" anyone else realize this?

  • @XiledAlphaGaming Thats big time rush, fucking gay

  • excelente cover!!!!!!

    el mejor que escuchado

  • @gigasname Gracias amigo!!!

  • Keep Up the good work!! Nice Cover!! The 17 dislikes to your video don't have fucking clue about real music.

  • you clearly needs more cymbals ... and cowbells !

  • Dude, that thing you do with the ride at 3:17 Is CRAZY!!!, I thought it was a spot on cover, but when i heard your little blast ride hits that made me sold on this cover

  • this is a fantastic job. great great drumming version of tom sawyer. keep up the good work.

  • Hell yes.

  • Awsome man!!!!

  • NEIL WOULD BE PROUD

  • wow i really enjoyed this vid...not just for the relaxing rhythm of the drums...i think it was that squeezy sound...i think i heard it from futurama that episode of the nintendo world and all that shit...i don't know a word to describe that sound...i don't even speak english but that sound was just like special...i don't drink or smoke...but that sound makes me wanna dance and smoke marijuana and sniff cocaine...damm it sounds so exquisit so fuckin delicious the "wiruwiruwiru wiiiruwiruwiru"

  • @RHCPTABOO hell yeah man go for it! lol

  • Well done - one my favs as well and you killed it.

  • very nice job .....Dan sarasota fl.

  • Neil Peart himself says this is a difficult song to play, I thought you did a great job!

  • Not bad man... Not bad... But... Why don't you use rimshots on snare drum?? It could be really better!

  • I just gotta say having been a child musician, play what you wanna play. I took tons of lessons, and finally made to state finals. Keep practicing the music is your grasp on reality. I know it can deep sometimes i would find myself in a trance like state. Keep your mind open around you listen for beats and rythems of life and the world around you.

You have a gift, i find you simply awesome, do it for you and no one else, remember the pros never let it go...keep up the great work!

  • Nice work!!

  • excellent cover.

  • who's made all your cymballe?

  • Dude, you're playing is PERFECTION in this song. I am so impressed. I have played and taught music for so many years. My band played this song when I was in HS many years ago and our drummer was wicked awesome but you are way better. Props. Please keep up your playing for ever. You are so, so talented. And you are so relaxed and make it look so easy.

  • Coming from a fellow drummer here, I have to say this was really damn good! Excellent job!! Neil is one of my biggest influences for me as well and to my band.

  • i love how half the symbols are the exact same

  • Awesome job young man...not anyone can play like that. Expect to hear about you in the near future...keep up yhe great work!!

  • Anyways, sounds perfect. I'd really like some variation from the song, although it's INSANELY difficult to play a song note for note like this, I appreciate the fact that you proved it possible by a person other than Mr. Peart.

  • Great work man
