@MetalMexa666 No. Death Metal plus Punk = Grindcore. Death Metal is a form of metal, Grindcore is a form of metal. If you take the "metal" out of Grindcore, that gives you Powerviolence. That's how I see it. Powerviolence is the "most extreme part of punk", or Crossover such as Wehrmacht. The most extreme of Death Metal are bands like Cryptopsy and Gorguts, and the most extreme of Grindcore is stuff like Last Days of Humanity.

That's all how I see it though, not entirely truth.

@jethi511 Well, I don't know if i'd agree with that. Grindcore is really Thrash metal sped up with punk style riffing. I suppose some Grindcore has elements of hardcore, but it's more an offshoot of the Thrash metal genre. Most people think Death Metal came before Grindcore which is completely false. The two genres really spawned at nearly the same time

@jethi511 Grind is short for grindcore. The term grindcore has been used since the 80s. Scene kids only adopted it a few years ago because it had the word "core" in it. And yeah, while things like metalcore and deathcore are named so because of their fusion with hardcore, grindcore was just a word someone coined to describe the sound. Besides, grind was partially born out of hardcore, so it's still valid to use the word "core" anyway. The word "core" isn't evil and dirty and wrong.

Grindcore generally is screeching vocals and a simple superfast blast beat. Where Deathcore has much more going on with the music. Usually gutteral vocals & super heavy bass.

Deathcore has no real connection to the metal scene. They also make music for the pure sakes of being heavy and extreme, as opposed for being GOOD music and extreme and heavy at the same time. You will notice Assuck have a lot of talent, the composition of the guitars and the drumming are very well written, and if you've ever read their lyrics, you'll know that they're also very good. Deathcore, is pretty talentless and uninspired.

Well, the difference is deathcore sucks and grindcore doesn't. There are a couple really good bands labeled as deathcore like Animosity, The Red Chord, and The Faceless. I honestly don't even know why they're labeled as deathcore. But Assück is the best.

The Faceless is a technical death metal band. They had a single breakdown in their first album, but Planetary Duality had no deathcore influences at all. Animosity is more like technical metalcore if you had to give it a good title. The Red Chord are...eh.

An Autopsy just sounds too non generic to be deathcore, but it does have a breakdown. Both Horizons Of Chaos are way too technical to be considered even Technical Deathcore. The album also has this symphonic feel to it, but it sounds nothing like Winds of Plague. Leica and Akeldema are very very progressive, and that defies the laws of tradition for deathcore music.

Deathcore is basically metalcore with Death Metal influnces but nowhere near as good as TRUE Grind. In other words Grindcore=Good, Deathcore=bad.
