  • Good Lord, if you say "uh" "um" "aaaand"or "like" one more time I'm going to explode, this couldn't be a more annoying demo.

  • Too many wacky crap demo'ed and not enough real world useable Delay, Verb and picth demo. Yes , this guy is not doing the unit much justice.

  • This guy sucks. Eventides really sell themselves...

  • Can the effects be customized and saved?

  • Hello, iam from Argentina, I was impressed of your physical resemblance to mine, and also play guitar, look at me on youtube, my band is Smocking Flamingo, and you will realize who I am. regards

  • shut the fuck up and just play

  • As cool as this thing is, there's something really great about stand-alone, true-bypass effects pedals. Maybe they do one or two things, but they do them really well. And as you amass them you can swap them on and off your board, and experiment in a more tangible way. Plus they are cooler looking and they have so much more character than these things. That being said I still respect the technology and innovation present in these kind of units.

  • I understand the hype and the possibilities of tone. It's just not the sound that I want, and I don't think it could hold up to a pure tube amp.

  • Oh my, I could listen to you playing this thing all day. Really nice clean tones, wierd effects and delays. It sounds so clear, yet smooth and spacious. Sounds great through headphones. So, suggestion for next vid, just play through all those sounds for ages with no talking just so I can listen all day, k? Sounds fair? Or send me one of these units as a prezzie so I can! Again, more than fair I think :-P Good vid.

  • can you post how eddie van halen uses the eventide? I hear he detunes...

  • 10:08 is epic

  • w-w-w-w-w-wheres paul?

  • I didn't know the H3000 was one effect at a time! The DSP4500 is two H3000s in a single box but don't tell me that the Eclipse, with all it's obvious regenerative chain effects, is just two H3000s!

I know you guys are really intelligent types but, please, put a proper demo together! :o)

Personally I'd use a valve amp for tone (or Rack Eleven) then use the Eclipse post microphone to a stereo amp so I have three cabinets for ultimate purity of both tone, effect or ability to plug in an acoustic.

  • Ax Fx shits on this thing.

  • @Doomzdayxx - True, but then Eclipse is not an amp modeller. Thats like comparing a Ferrari and a tractor.

  • @3Deity I didn't want that to sound like I'm "trolling". I just recently got an axfx and Im just so happy with it. i know that Eventides are top notch world class for what they do.

  • @Doomzdayxx Thats alright, I feel that the poor sample rate of the video is helping the Eclipse sound better than it is by rounding off top end. The GuitarFX is a fine unit, I want to try one but I'm pretty much sold on the Rack Eleven. Having played one, my first intuition was to take my headphones off as I couldn't believe it wasn't coming from a cabinet.

  • @3Deity If the 11 rack was more expensive, or the axfx was cheaper, I'd say get the ax by far, but I'm sure that for the money the 11 rack is great, and it's still like $1,000.00 isn't it??

  • @Doomzdayxx I've seen people selling the Eleven for about £575 while the AxFX is £2,500? Have you played both? I really like the AxFX's impulse reverb feature. Just looked at the AxFX website again, they only had jazz guitar demos previously (I went 14 months without internet) but I see what you mean about Eventide like effects. Are these impulse based or real though? You can get impulses of all Eventide stuff but of course editing it is impossible.

  • @3Deity I'm not sure. I have seen people post on the Fractal message boards that they can get their axfx to sound just as good, and better in some cases, as their eventide, and as for the 11 rack, I have only seen demos, but on message boards you will see a general consensus that axfx sounds better and is more versatile that 11 rack, and not saying the 11rack sounds bad at all, but it comes down to how much exactly do you want to be able to tweak your sounds.

  • @Doomzdayxx I promised I would never utter this but; The AxeFX 'can' emulate guitar amps, 'does' make the evolutionary step into synthesis (Hurrah!) and 'could' therefore emulate violin, piano, flute etc. How much work is a guitar amp to model from a guitar string, so why not change that string to one on a violin etc? So yeah, I agree that the AxeFX may excel in this field way beyond what Eventide kit does!

  • @3Deity I can say that the axfx is nothing short of amazing as far as perfectly emulating any amp/cab combination that you can think of. The only drawback I see with the axfx is the hefty pricetag(especially for Europeans) but alot of people will tell you that it is worth every penny

  • @Doomzdayxx Okay, I will do some more research and track one down to play. Cheers for the tip.

The AxeFX and Eleven are >CHEAP!< I mean, a classic Boss Chorus pedal is now £140, Green TS - £220?!? So by the time I put a MXR Phase 90 in the mix and a few others you've already spent as much as an Eleven, then add one amp.. I have a real Marshall Super Bass head, totally useless! Bloody noisy, no 'tone' it just barks. Horrible. Mint, yours for £2,500.

  • Waiting for some retard to comment on this guys "crappy" guitar playing....

  • *Staring*

    you're not paul...

  • whats the effect uses in the intro, its awesome

  • so... uh.... um....

  • Can this guy speak a complete sentence? or is he just guessing at what this thing does?

  • There's nothing wrong with effects because an intricate melody can be made more full with an instant back up orchestra. If someone doesn't know how the effect will react then they can actually screw up the effect by playing wrong. It actually comes back down to musical fundamentals.

  • screw him! petrucci???? bah...

  • Am i missing something or does 2 effects at one time seem limiting. Is the intention that this is supose to work with another rack unit. For 2000 it seems this should be able to do process more than 2 effects.

  • @janethorson333 I agree although I'm pretty sure that the effects are quite complex, i.e. not just like 2 Boss boxes

  • @janethorson333 It does 2 things insanely well. Try one out for yourself.

  • @janethorson333 It uses effects with very complex and large algorithms [sp?]. This machine is light years away from being limiting. Save for the tedious UI. But once you get that classic treatment of space with Eventide's delays you'll completely forget about the serious Green you had to plunk down. Nothing sounds like an Eventide. I'm hardly a "fanboy" but I've been digging their products since they were called Eventide Clockworks just because of their rich delay. True story!

  • damn i want that guitar soooo bad !!!!! i love my own Gibson but this one is beautiful!

  • When he said Eclipse and paused, I thought he was talking about the guitar. Then I realized it was a Gibson.

  • Hi

can I control the Eclipse with a Behringer MIDI Controler Box ?

  • @dragoste747 Yup.

  • That is one beautiful guitar

  • Eventide has the best algorithms, nothing compares. It even does a great guitar amp simulation, which is amazing, because it's a studio effects processor.

  • Anyone find it odd they didn't mention Steve Vai in the list of guitar players...?

  • uh uhm uhm uhh uhm uhm gaad!

  • i wonder how much this thing would cost

  • @leddeath80 1970euros here (about $2500).

  • i imagan that this would be alsome to use for movies but for real this thang sucks i would rather use an line 6 pod live any day

  • STOP TALKING...spare us the history lesson and just play the fucking thing!!

  • @tonygasser He makes his best. Make your own video if you can afford this gear, you clever man.

  • seems like an axe-fx ultra would pwn this things ass. Excuse me for my internet speak.

  • This guy is boring.

  • Does it come with Dual delay like the timefactor ?

  • whats the fuckin point in a feedback pedal? live your gonna get feedback anyway

  • @rickyjshiznit Yeah, and no one will ever have the need for personal computers.... Brains!!

  • ive read this comment like 10 times and i still dont know what your implying.

  • my point is that it isn't useless just because you and many other people here cant find a use for it. It's a good idea trying to be humble for all our fantastic brain can do. History is flooded with shortsighted people trying to set fire on things they dont understand.

  • Maybe you'll need it in the studio

  • All the effects to make even the crappiest guitar players sound awesome.

  • well i dont need no crappy computer to make me sound good! ...ok actually i sound like crap, but id rather develop skills in my hands b4 going to all this expensive technology BS

  • That's sort of how I am. I would rather spend money on lessons or some way to develop as a player. I'm not going to lie, things like this can be fun, but for me it's WAY more interesting to see what I can do with the guitar without the aid of effects.

  • @rocknrollguru23 indeed... but its even better when a guitar player who is great uses it..

  • @frylocdub True enough, but too many guitar players seem to rely on effects. If used right, effects can rock. They can be overused too easy.

  • @rocknrollguru23 BULLSHIT ... listen to robert fripp ... being crative with an effect is sometimes harder the being creative without effects ...

  • @Petrasilchen There are plently of guitar players who still make good use of effects. No arguments there. But I think there is a greater proportion of players who use effects to cover up their lack of skill. So long as there is skill behind it, effects can add alot, but I just don't see that as often.

  • @rocknrollguru23 Ah, So Jimmy Page, The Edge, Robert Fripp, John Petrucci and Peter Frampton are all "crappy guitar players"? Your musical genius far supercedes that of us mere mortals, oh all-knowing one.

  • @JimboMansonMB1 So just because someone uses effects that automatically makes them a terrible guitar player? Show me where I wrote that. Seriously. Do it.

Don't put words in my mouth. I use some effects sometimes, but there's a time and place for them. Some guitar players use them too much and use them to cover up mistakes. Distortion? I love it. But it does hide mistakes, even ones I make.

  • @rocknrollguru23 "All the effects to make even the crappiest guitar players sound awesome" definitely implies a hostility towards those who use a lot of effects. Fewer people than you think use effects to cover up their mistakes, they're generally used by people to create sounds and textures in music that you can't make with distortion.

What distortion do you use? A nice overdriven amp won't cover up your mistakes, it will accentuate them because of an increased level of both volume and gain.

  • @JimboMansonMB1 It's a short one sentence comment on youtube mate. Enough people got it not to be offended over it. I didn't imply anything, it's just true from what i've seen that some players way overuse effects to cover up the fact that they're not that good. Some of my favorite players use them. A Mexican duo, Rodrigo y Gabriela use a "wah" effect every once in awhile, but it's sparingly. Enough to make it interesting.

Just the one that came with my amp.

  • @JimboMansonMB1 (stupid character limit) but yeah, when I play the same thing without it I sometimes notice a small error. Sometimes that gives it character with distortion, but if i'm out of practice it can sound pretty terrible (in my opinion) when on clean.

Like I said, effects can be good when used right. But too many people only learn sometime small, and then just dick around with effects to make the same chords/notes sound different.

  • i want paul :(

  • Punch yourself in the arm everytime he says "Erm". You'll be fucked by tthe end :)

  • Dude, I stopped after 1 minute, because I couldn't feel my hand anymore!

I think 1: He needs to think before he starts a sentence or 2: I'm hitting my arm too hard.

  • @TSister43 Do the same thing when President Obama speaks. Your arm will FALL OFF.

I'd rather this guy say Ummm and Ermm more than the President.

  • I think Steve Vai uses an Eventide Ultra Harmonizer.. :)

  • Comment removed

  • this guy sucks...

  • you just lose the guitar itself. it sucks

  • well, i do a LOT of electronica on the side, and this sounds like something i could use :D

  • for a second there i thought wot the fuck has happened to paul

  • that intro effect sounds like something a T-Pain wannabe would sing through... and "Venusian Girls"...? LAME

  • what a ridiculous piece of gear i wouldn't even use this in the studio

  • Sounds extremely artificial. Don't like it.

  • how is it in the live set up? i heard there is small lanetcy when you changes presets???

  • Cool beans

  • that begining bit sounds really really nice

  • Steve Vai!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ummmm this video... uhhhh.... ummmm sucks.

  • hmm this or axe fx ultra?

  • axe fx ultra for sure!!

  • theyrr about the same price too so ill definitly go axe fx

  • thats a nice looking les paul

  • did he just name the edge as a great guitar player? jesus, in one song all he does are two natural harmonics... the whole fucking song.

  • whoa just the begining of this video amazed me lol

  • woo he's nervous

  • rofl

  • no kidding! he keeps pausing and fidgeting

  • paul got uglier...

  • oh yay, feedback...

  • the guy says ummm... ten thousands times but if i was rich i would own that its sick

  • He's from Eventide, not Guitar World. Thank god.

  • Cool stuff! That would be an awesome addition to any rig! Too bad it's so God damn expensive!! >:(

  • Stutters too much

  • holy shit you sub to this too XD

  • lol, i sub to the mags too, x)

  • this guy is a fucking tool

  • JEEZ its a cool pedal but thers no way im spending almost 2000$ on it

  • This guy really knows about the ware but we just cant convince, look kind of insecure

  • " uh uh *stutters* uh uh *silence* uh...*explains gear* *stutters* uh etc

This guy better of not taken over Paul.

  • No he just works for eventide. It seems all the demonstration people from equipment companies are idiots.

  • is it just me or are all the FX's kinda lame?

  • thats pretty bad ass! check out my channel and sub please!

  • it's not paul because that guy's from the company selling his wares

  • I want my Paul back:(

  • who the hell is this?! BRING BACK PAUL!!!

  • @dadudeguy2 I agree! PAUL!

  • not a fan... the feedback thing was kinda cool i guess for a pedal?

  • omg, he forgot to mention Steve Vai! thats a crime man! lol

  • where the fuck is paul?

  • @ruffles272 eventide demo, no paul. get over it

  • is that a burny?

  • This is not paul. BUt his guitar is really cool.

  • Why the hell would you want your guitar making ambiance sounds...isn't that the purpose of a keyboardist?

  • good for song openings?

  • obviously you've never been interested in ambient music...

  • Not too much, but I'm not putting it down...just why not get a keyboardist?

  • Okay good. well sometimes it's easier to do it yourself as opposed to teaching someone else what to do. you know how keyboardists in rock music work...

  • horrible, worthless meandering complete jackoff of a demo, guitar world should be embarrassed to post this kind of utter garbage. KNOCK IT OFF!!

  • this dude needs to be down on the corner where guys that "SUCK" hang out!! gimme a fuckin break already

  • dude this is so fuckin gay, and bring paul back tht guy fucking owns

  • Damn its too long

  • Yeah I love effects that make a guitar sound like a bunch of noise. I play the fucking guitar because it sounds like guitar.

  • I WANT PAUL BACK

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS PAUL?!

  • This one is $2000 while the G-major 2 is $500. Why should I buy the same thing for four times the price? Sure, the G-major isn't an amp silmulator, but who on a professional level wouldn't use a real amp?

  • So if I want an unnatural, heavily effected sound I get one of these right?

  • This dude sucks! He says "uh" too much!

  • @NickAgueci Oh, great comment sir !

  • nice effects, but still you think with all the videos they have been reviewing guitar stuff, they would get a better camera by now :/

  • this isnt the same with paul :(

this noob doesnt know what hes talkin about

  • Give us back Paul Riario! BTW nice Les Paul Supreme!

  • buying it

  • @DavidRck 3 Grand.

  • MEEEEEEH

  • Summary: this guy who works for Eventide says that everyone should buy this Eventide gadget.

  • wheres paul??

  • Comment removed
