@25oscarmu Allow intelligence to seep back into your head. It took a great deal of balls to make this video, a hell of a lot more than you have by your comment. He knows exactly what happened and he understands why.
i appreciate this "HONEST" video as accidents can and do happen even to the experts/professionals. Glad you are ok and that it was only the type of wound it was and not worse.
see that shit mf's all way's talken about glocks aren't safe because they don't have a real safety on them ! well that go's to show that you can shoot your self with a $1000 gun to ,dumb ass and to you hater's fuck you too !
Thank you for sharing. Glad it was not more serious. Yes, it was a negligent discharge as the equipment functioned properly. It did exactly what your body requested and that was based on how it was trained with the previous equipment. Seems like a good argument to pick one system and stick with that. At least when you are attempting something high speed, low drag.
Good too see you standing on your leg. I had a Kimber pri carry go full auto when I chambered the first round on a full mag. It was a brand new gun. Luckily I was outdoors in safe shooting area when this happened. Normally I would have cycled a few rounds from the mag manually in the house. This event stopped that practice. If you are around guns long enough, shit will happen. Period. By the way. Nice legs there Tex.
@fcarabat sorry, talking about your stupid fucking "in soviet russia" comment, not this guy in the video. it's getting old man, find another comment you can copy.
sorry to say this but this is why guns should be heavily legislated. now, you are a responsible gun owner, but not everyone is a responsible gun owner. if accidents like this happen to experienced responsible gun owners, imagine what kind of damage some crazy nut do with a hand gun to himself and others.
@rumcent you could have a billion legislative rules and laws against guns but it won't solve the problem theres more gun related violence in countries with the craziest of rules . people kill not guns. proper disciplinary repetitive training works. rules don't do a single thing.
I'm sorry but "I just fucking shot myself" It took me a bit to recover from falling out of my chair. Not trying to ridicule or be mean and it really is a serious thing. But your reaction was just priceless.
Sorry you got hurt. But I still think you're dumb for playing around with guns. What "training" would take over if you accidentally shot a child standing somewhere in the vicinity?
Sorry that happened bro. This is one reason why I carry israeli style. If I don't have that 1/2 a second to rack the slide, I guess I'm a gonner. That's a chance I have to take. But the chance of accidental shooting is frightening enough, I'm happy to take it.
@kimberHD45 thats how we learned it in the military. We practiced it that style so many times that it becomes second nature and I think that when trained to do it that way you barely loose any time. I agree with you.. better be safe then taking out someone/something you didn't intend to.
man! u took that .45 cal like a boss, as if you were only struck by a paintball gun. I experienced this same kind of accident but with a black hawk serpa during a gunfight here in my country, i was just luckier that i didn't shotmyself.
wow bro, you're so cool. you had the bleeding stopped by the time the medics showed up. still bragging about how cool you are after you just shot yourself. let me just say that again. YOU. SHOT. YOURSELF.. and you still think you're cool cause you can dress a wound. and, what kind of training are you talking about?
@kbyecruzer dude I would call him a badass for not falling over screaming and crying from being shot in the leg, some people can't even do that from a splinter.
@megabeaver23 meh... okay i guess i can give him credit for that, although, when you get shot, normally there's a period of time where you're too disoriented to feel much pain. you see that in the video, he shoots himself and then covers the exit wound and even though it obviously hurts, the adrenaline takes care of a lot of pain.
The idiots commenting on here should play around with a nighthawk serpa holster in order to understand what actually happened. He didn't use a straight finger to press the button and pull up, he used a curled finger which is y he pressed the trigger once it was cleared from the holster. Practice using a straight finger I u have this type of holster, don't jab at it. Many places don't allow those types of bilateral because of that very reason. Trigger lines up with the button and cause it to fire
so after this they are going to ban guns? That was crazy how it traveled 1/4th your whole body and you are still alive. What did it feel like to have a bullet go in and out of you? DId you feel it exit and what was the pain like.
Like @xxphoenixrosexx said, u handle that gun shot well, and didnt go into panic, like most people would, i think i would had handle that the same way, with the cussing and all, "SOB, I shot my self", would have been the first words that came out of my mouth lol. get well man !
Thank you for being MAN enough to show this video. It will be a good learning tool. I will share it with friends. Accidents happen!!! Videos like this help and ignorant people calling you stupid help nothing.
Kimber hand guns are notorious for doing this....This has happened before exactly the way Tex described his incident. Although the holster involved in the incident that I know of was a safariland holster that has that button you have to push.
I don't understand why accidentally taking the safety off actuating the holster plunger would cause you to pull the damn trigger. Do you normally rest your finger on the trigger with the safety on? Finger off trigger until ready to fire.
@womsterr This has happened many times involving Kimber hand guns and the newer thumb release holsters...It happened to a police officer the exact same way a few years back. The old 1911 style guns are not designed to interact with new holster styles....The gun was designed over a hunderd years ago when there were no retention holsters available.
@PutnU2sleep if you keep your finger off the trigger until you engage the target its a non-issue. What police officer carries a 1911 .45 in this day and age?
Well. To be honest im not impressed. You say you have been shooting for years. But I will be honest that was sloppy work my friend. The way you stood in front of the target and more importantly the way you drew the weapon. Maybe you should take a few courses before you try being some 6 shooter from the west. O and to comment on my training kicked in.......really! You called mommy? Lol. Seriously bro. Put the firearm down and start opting with legos.........god weeds out stupid people.
wow a freakin 45 acp. You are very lucky to be alive, much less still able to walk!
I believe this is a good example of how even the 45 is not king, every round can fail at stopping an attacker. From a .22 LR to a .50 AE if the round placement isn't there don't expect the threat to have ended. It appeared you were even able to walk immediately after the gun shot. So what was it like? do you feel you could have ran on it if needed?
geez man you were lucky...bullet going down under a different angle i mean inside of the knee, not outside...and next vid you would shoot would be on a cripplecart. anyway, totally agree on...safety is everyone's' business.
at first i thought "damn a 45. through the leg" then i thought it was probably better that a larger round went in and exited rather than having a 22. popped in your leg and staying there
Tex Thank you for sharing that had to hurt like a sum-beech, thank God it was not a hydra-shok. All you haters and people criticizing Tex go back to slurping Obama's knob. Non of you f-tards could shoot a gun to save your liberal commie butt.
Bravo to you for your honesty. Live and learn, Tex. You've learned a valuable lesson, and, saw fit to share with others. This video will likely serve as a reminder to everyone just how important firearm safety is. Thanks to you.
The trolls came out, #1, if you are "responsible" with concealed carry, it takes 100's, HUNDREDS of hours of practice to perfect proper draw and use of you firearm. The rest of you morons who thinks your James Bond, when the s%^& hits the fan, you will probably shoot yourself in the leg, get disarmed by your assailant, and become a statistic, if not just become a statistic because you lack practice/training. Thx for the share Tex, takes a REAL man to admit he f'd up, hope others learn from it!
Thanks for posting this video and I'm glad you're okay. You are one of many who have suffered similar accidents using the Blackhawk Serpa holster. The release mechanism and trigger finger are in direct line with the trigger.

I hate the term "negligent discharge". I've even hear some shooters say there is no such thing as an accidental discharge.
This is ridiculous for at least two reasons: 1. Accidents happen, this can not be denied.
2. Weapon malfunction.
I would say yours was accidental. I'm glad you weren't loaded with hollow points, and that, it seems, you'll make a full recovery.
Thanks for posting this video.
TheMrGruff 3 days ago
Rule 1 - Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.
Rule 2 - Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot.
A Marine must maintain muzzle awareness at all times.
Rule 3 - Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
Rule 4 - Keep the weapon on safe until you intend to fire.
trigger)5 know your target and what is beyond and between
