i have Jumpers knee for almost 5 years now and i am 20. They say i will grow out of it but it hasn't gotten any better. On top of that I had a hip injury which made both me knees act up because of the compensation. I took physical therapy... it helped but the the pain is still there...am i healed..is it Osgood schlatters. On top of all that i have tendinitis and some other foot problems and low arches... when you put it all together I am a mess haha I was wondering if you could help
All you smart ass people who think you know what your talking about can just shut the hell up. Its really annoying to see your long ass messages on this about a video... please :)
@turtlepress i have pains around my knee cap and it hurts when Bending down or doing any leg work ! i play rugby and lift weights ! could i use this technique on my knee without the tape breaking whilst playing sport ?
@MadStylezuk Not sure whether it will help but you can definitely make the tape job strong enough to stay in place during activity. Many basketball players use this technique successfully during games/practice.
I think I'm currently suffering from jumpers knee, I have like a swelling 2 inches below the knee. It feels like it is right on the bone. Any suggestion what it can be? I'm feeling a huge pain while moving, jumping so on. I haven't hit it into anything, (at least so far I can remember). Have any suggestion to treat/cure it? I'm grateful for a quick reply!
I when i was in 8th grade at school for 4years ago i did suffer a knee injury while running training going to run 800m but after 700m it starts hurting really badly and my doctor told me i hade a injury i hade broken my ACL & MCL but now 4years later i can't even train because of the pain and i have kneepads and tape but nothing helps so some times it hurt's so badly i can almost not even walk.
Thanks for the advice, I have had jumpers knee on my left knee for 5 years but it has worsened this year since I put more weight on my body. I bought a jumpers knee strap to use during basketball and can no longer do squats so I do leg presses instead. It hurts when I walk sometimes, esp up and down stairs. I use this taping procedure before i go to sleep and take it off in the morning. Should i tape it all day to increase the recovery process?
@1ofmeNlotsofU what you have sounds like tendonosis or a breakdown (lysis) of the backside of the tendon. You can tell this by pressing on the front of the tendon with the leg straight and then pressing on the tendon with the knee bent. If you have less pain with the knee bent it is because the tendon is not in contact with the bone behind it. See your orthopedic for an evaluation because at this point ice, rest and anti-inflams are not going to make a difference.
i have something with my knee which is called osgood slaughter, this is a growing disease and it hurts. it havent been hurting for a long time because i stopped with my sports. but now im doind freerunning and im feeling it is going to hurt again, does this trick help to stop that pain too?
@mr666rock U better see a orthopedic surgeon. If ur bones have really come off, u need screw to put it back. It takes less than 1 yr to heal, not 12months.
@3rundisciple I have the same problem and i saw a doctor, he told me to do the exact same thing and it will eventually go away. The other option is to just stop what ever sport your doing for a few weeks and take it easy. But this wrapping technique works for me. I also have a jumpers knee brace which you can get from the Pharmacy.
@matchew3194 i was watching this and was wondering how does that help? then i scrolled down and read your comment and laughed out loud for real haha. cracked me up
Hey guys, im a 15 year old basketball player who got jumper's knee. Two weeks ago i visited a knee expert here in sweden. He's really good, people all around the world have come to him to get help with injuries especially sport injuries. He gave me four knee exercises and he showed me how to tape the knee.
Keep an eye on my channel i will upload a video of the exercises that he showed me and how to tape your knee.
my experience is that these straps and taping are a waste of time. basically your knee is too weak for the stress you put it through. start with icing. often. then hit the pool. get your leg workout that way till the pain subsides. then incorporate leg extensions into your regimen. very little weight. squeeze the muscle at the top of the extension. as that area becomes stronger, your knee will be able to track itself. no modifiers.
@imjustpassinthru Pre-wrap is something you put on under tape so it doesn't pull the hairs out of your skin. You can use it for this taping technique instead of regular athletic tape.
i have jumpers knee on both legs and it kills. i had it for 3 years now but the pain hurts the most at this age(14). any tips or adivce to make this pain go away?
I'm afraid you are wrong, because the tendon above the patella is called the quadriceps tendon, and the tendon underneath is actually the patella tendon (or ligament). And this is where your pain is located when you have a jumper's knee.
What confuses me, is that she seems to be afraid of a rupture of the tendon directly at the tibia, while the pain is directly beneath the knee cap..
here wtf?the patellar tendon attaches ABOVE THE PATELLA, she's taping the patellar ligament? im horribly confused is she wrong about the anatomy or where she put the tape?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
wow she obviously dosnt know much about anatomy, the tendon is above the patella (knee) not on the bottom where shes point at. their all ligament around the knee because ligaments hold bones together, tendons attach to muscles (the tendon above the knee goes to the quadricep). She even says so herself that "you have a small tendon that runs down the knee cap and attaches to the bone here". so much for her being an "Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Specialist ..."
If you have hair on your legs you will want to shave it off, or purchase a ready made jumpers knee strap or else you will be in for a painful surprise.
this is osund advice, i have had re occurring pain for maybe a year, I am now crippled by it after an intense few weeks of playing. I am looking at now sitting out 2 months :-(

@mr666rock no, jumper's knee is different from osgood schlatter - if you rest for 12-24 months, you should just outgrow it

haha dude i wish you would have told me this like a year and a half ago haha that was a bad experience

i have this too
but i already knew how to threat it.
this is kinda wrong to do.
you have to cut 2 pieces of prewrap and apply it from the right side of your knee to the left side of your knee.
then take some heavy duty wrap and put it next to your kneecap.
now you've got to pull the heavy duty wrap into the direction between your legs.
make sure you actually move the kneecap a bit.
if you taped everything right the kneecap would be more directing between your knees and it would hurt less.
