The 1969 Chappaquiddick incident resulted in the death of automobile passenger Mary Jo Kopechne; Kennedy with the help of the local sheriff being a close friend of Joe Kennedy helped Ted get away with this murder and so as to make it look like the only thing Ted did wrong was leave the accident, the sheriff asked Ted to plead guilty to leaving the scene of an accident. Ted Kennedy never apologized to the dead girls parents for taking part in the murder of their daughter Mary Jo Kopechne .

I'm sick of hearing about Chappaquiddick. There is such a thing as redemption. A man's life cannot be boiled down to one afternoon and a bad decision. Clearly, Ted kennedy did far, far more that is right than he did that was wrong. Frankly, all of the people that continue to whine on about Chappaquiddick are simply using the memory of the girl to flog Kennedy for political ends, not because they are genuinely standing up for her memory.
