  • i got a question :) if u want to sing different genres of music (eg. rock, pop, classic) do u sing a different way? :) thnx! :)

  • @BlackPrincess317 That really just means you will alter your tone...example if you sing country music you would add a twang, if more operatic you would have a deeper and richer tone with extensive vibrato. But I would start out really creating a rich tone and doing that through diaphragm, or belly breathing, will definitely help.

  • When you sing with your diaphragm, do your vocal cords vibrate as much as normal? Or am I doing it wrong?

  • @MoonlightRachel It should vibrate a little more yes because you are getting deeper breaths which will give you more breath support and creating vocal vibrations...great question.

  • what?

  • i have a stupid question............do you inhale from your nose and exhale from your mouth or the opposite?

  • @johnnyjohn0099 Hey Johnny, that's probably a question other people need to know but it helps if you breath through your mouth rather than your nose. Breathing from your nose usually ends up making you do shallow or chest breathing but if you breathe through your mouth it's easier to control that through your diaphragm. Hope that helps!

  • @HowToSingDotCom what? the one thing i am certain about in singing is that one should breathe in silently through the nose. one can breath deeply through both the nose and mouth. But there are many negative side effects to breathing in through the mouth. like drying of the throat, taking in cold air, tension in the throat, swallowing muscles take longer to relax after intake and breathing sounds to loud. So breathe in silently through nose.

  • @johnnyjohn0099 It you want to be certain that you breathe deeply in a natural way; Stand up straight but comfortable, take in a deep breath then calmly blow out ALL the air through your mouth. Now as you are EMPTY of air, close you mouth and hold your breath while empty for about 10 to 15 seconds. NOW breathe in QUIETLY through your NOSE NOT MOUTH. When you do this you will feel your diagram. this exercise triggers your natural deep breathing reflex. breathe like this when singing.

  • I quite frankly don't understand the difference either you can sing or not this crap does not work for me at all, all these breathing exercise crap nearly gave me a heart attack. This is some major bull poop.

  • @cinderelmo ha...well don't pass out...well to be honest this is a great way to not only improve your overall singing because it helps you with breath control. Breath management then enables you to sing higher notes because they are backed with more airflow and power. Additionally, you will hit pitches and notes more accurately and sharpen your tone.

  • @HowToSingDotCom What if your voice is changing will it effect you at all?

  • I'm actually lost aha.. so how different should it feel from regular breathing/inhaling? When you take the breath, how should it feel? I always feel like I'm singing from the back of my throat.. Like, I take a deep breath, but then once I start singing, the tension goes back to my throat.. please help.

  • I try to breathe in and out without using my chest, but i couldnt tell if it was expanding or not. I cant feel it.

  • great video! i'll try doing this and hopefully it'll work :D

question tho, whenever i sing, my friends would tell me that i use my throat instead of my diaphragm and i don't how to tell if i'm singing from the diaphragm, chest. . or if i've using my throat voice or head voice. can u please explain that to me? thank you!

  • This was helpful thank you

  • @leahrussell95 anytime...thanks for watching! definitely check out the other videos and subscribe to our page! :)

  • hi, is breathing from the diaphram like when you breath lying on your back, if so can you sing on your back to get used to singing from the diaphram please answer i will subscribe

  • @clubpenguinsubscribe Hey...yes exactly...that's what helps you learn to not sing from your chest but rather from your gut.

  • I'm never going to be able to do it :( lol

  • @2530Kingy you definitely will...think of just expanding your gut out when you breath and not raising your chest.

  • Thanks a lot. Now I know how to breath without expanding my chest. But I am not sure how to sing like that....I have throat tightness after I start singing for a while is that because i used my throat to sing rather than my diaphragm?

  • @FishyFantasy Just think of it as inhaling and then keep singing normally. You don't have to change up your singing technique just how you inhale. Your throat hurts because of strain so I would recommend you doing more vocal warm-ups which are important since your voice is made up of muscles. It's really one of the major overlooked parts of singing.

  • when i do the vowel thingy do i like try to sing or just simply say it like im talking but breath correctly???

  • @darrencrisslover101 - Sarah, you always want to make sure you are singing and just notice the breathing as you perform the exercises. This should help you get a lot of breath support as you sing.

  • @HowToSingDotCom That's exactly right Darren...well said...I'll thumbs up that response :)

  • @HowToSingDotCom ima a singer songwriter and when i sing i have my guitar straped on too so sometimes its hard for me to get enough air.....does this still work or do u have any tips for that?
