@Zambaku Everyone has their way. I suggest looking for as many 'learn to crochet' sources as possible, and explore all the holds to find one that's right for you.
Hello i wonder if you can give me some advice please. My Girlfriend loves to make things with this crochet style and i would love to surprise her and get her some sort of crochet kit or supply's so is there anything you could reccomend. Not anything small i would like it to be a big kit or something used in crochet that is very useful to have, not something EXTREMELY expensive but just not something cheap. I really don't know anything about it so please reccomend something for me to get her.
@TimeSplitterChimp If she already crochets, then she already owns the hooks she needs to do it. Consider buying her a small collection of balls of worsted weight yarn in a rainbow of bright colours and putting them in a gift basket that can double as storage. Or hit the bookstore for a book of amigurumi patterns (check page two of the "crochet" section in my amazon shop, on my blogspot blog, Wiremysoul, for suggestions). What a great idea to get her something like this. Good on ya!
@WireMySoul Thank you very much i will get her this and look for some sort of bag or something to keep all her stuff in, I know she loves to do this and make things and sell them on her website but i never talk about it with her because well im a guy lol but it means allot to her so i want to do this for her.
i've been trying to follow the arigurumi style and i understand increasing and decreasing, but cant tell where you are inserting the hook on the double stiches?? is there a video that shows this position better?
There shouldn't be any double-crochet stitches in this project. Can you be more specific with your question? What point in the video do you mean? (If you can note the time, I'll be better able to answer.)
I love your tutorials! You make it seem so easy! :D Just wondering, do you know how to make a amigurumi pear? :) I would love to see a tutorial for something like that :) A fruit of a bigger size or so. Keep up the good work!!
Shape-making is all in how you arrange your rows of increasing and decreasing. For a pear, start the same way as shown in my Amigurumi Cherry video, but instead of closing off the sphere, start to increase again for a few rounds, then complete it like a ball as demo'd in my Crochet tutorial Amigurumi Part 2. Good luck!
Please may i state that at the start you are actually double crocheting not singulary crocheting but the pattern was fantastic and made a great gift for my freind
Yes you're correct. This stitch is called a double crochet in the UK. In North America, however, it's called Single Crochet (our double crochet is your treble crochet). I'm glad you liked the video and pattern! Thanks for taking time to comment.
i have one question ,, in the begining whne your doing the sc are you doing the ribbed sc stitch where you just go thru one and not both strings,or the full sc
I usually use a 4.25mm crochet hook with worsted weight yarn for amigurumi. The smaller your hook, the tighter the weave, which will minimize holes in your fabric. You don't want big holes that show your stuffing peeking through.
Thank you for this video! This was my first try at amigurumi and I have to say, my snake looks very much like yours. I didn't have pony beads so I used those little pegboard beads that you melt together and it seems to have worked just as well. My next project is a cute little elephant! Thanks again!
I'm not ranting or anything, but I'm REALLY stupid and really confused about when you start using like "second crochet in 2nd loop..." could you explain some of that please? ^____^' thanks.
I'm sorry I don't know what instruction is confusing you, exactly. I'm sure you're not stupid. It's possible that by seeing my other videos, it may become clearer what I meant by that, so I recommend checking them all out, since many of the beginning instructions are repeated in each video.
Hi, I was wandering if this was your pattern or all the amigurumi patterns from japan. by the way it looks great. I want to make them and sell them. but I don't want to steal someones pattern.
I haven't written a pattern out for this snake, but the patttern is shown in substitles throughout the video; you're welcome to copy them down for your own use without the video accompaniment. :D
Jan, I just saw the Snake demo videos, they are great! I can't wait to make one. I'm doing christmas projects. I will make one after New years. Thanks so much for your videos, I love em :) Dawn in NOLA!

In these videos, I'm doing regular old single crochet, not front/back loop only single crochet.

This snake is of my own design, as are all of the amigurumi in my gallery on deviantART, unless otherwise noted in the artist comments.

I was wondering if you had written instructions also?
Awesome snake though! I can't wait to try this out. ^_^
