Because Scottsdale/Phoenix has amazing weather, so people come here for that weather, and get stuck on the physical meaning of 'beauty', which in turn gets passed down to some of the people to have that 'rich' lifestyle.  Then on top of that, there is MAJOR money in the valley, which adds to it cause of their big houses and cars. So these guys and girls get stuck on that, and somehow it translates into guido and plastic surgery, designer clothes, etc. to show it off. Dumb, I know. But reality.
