Cameraman is the reason these videos exist. He sought Mike out to get a lesson and these videos were the result. So thank him. Yes, he doesn't know much now but if he sticks with it, we'll see him evolve.
Please tell the camera man to shut up, he doesnt know shit about golf and detracts from the videos. So damn annoying!!! I want to listen to the guy that knows how to hit the ball and teach.......not the camera man who doesnt know his head from his butt!!!
Hey Sevam-swing coming on nicely. Much shorter backswing-as I am keeping right knee flexed. And starting downswing with legs rather than hit. I now hitting draws, but also many pull hooks (will post update video). My question is-to try and reduce OTT and hit from inside and follow through down the line WHAT GRIP is best? I bread Hogans Five Fundamentals-my grip is more like 3 and a half knuckles (Shawn Clement rec type!). Would a weaker Hogan type grip help me???
Basically what Im asking is having a neutral/Strog grip-will this encourage my follow thorugh and hitting plane to go to the left-and sometimes cut across line?
Would a compeletly neutra gripl, or just a tad strong grip help my swing plane?
My backswing looks decent now-but even with rotating hips and not swinging from top, my arms still want to wrap round to the left. 20 years of doing it like this is hard to change!
Well just pinch the shaft with the right thum and forefinger and you will feel tension in the right forearm. The clubhead will go back differently because the right arm is less inclined to fold the same as if you let the right thumb ride to the right of the shaft where it applies little pressure and has less influence. This affects the backswing path.
Not bad stuff...he's got part of it...and that is a very nice golf swing which I like a lot...but, he's WAAAAAAY more down the line than Mr. Hogan....way, way, way, more down the line.....but, there is a lot of Hogan AND Moe in that swing......in fact, it's sort of a "hybrid" and is a swing well worth emulating........and he's correct about the similarity between Mr. Hogan's and Moe's backswings.......from about waist high till the completion of the transition Mr. Hogan and Moe were VERY similar
Hey, whatever. I'm not knocking the release. It think it's great. I used to use that type of release when I was younger, stronger and used to practice. I'm just showing Cameraman what it is. I make one swing in this video at 2:38 and another one around 3:50 to talk about the release you are referring to. To make the club go there. I hold it firmer in the left hand and leave most of my weight on the left leg on the backswing.
The club comes back inside fast through impact and the hands turn over late. If you want, you can hold the grip strong enough and firm enough so that the hands don't turn over at all. When you do that it goes low left and then climbs up to pull you into a high finish because if you don't let it turn over it has nowhere to go but up after the body moves it left. Depends on how far you want to carry it form wise because the ball is alreay gone before anything turns over in that way.
hogans club head did not release until after the ball had left the club face. from a down the line view hogans hands disappeared in front of his body while the club head was releasing, while your hands in the down the line run straight at the target like moe. there is a clear difference in hogans release and the way you swing on here. watch slice fixers 9 to 3 video.
mike. I have agreed with almost everything you talk about on here and golfwrx...but the low left release that hogan used is not a product of how you grip the club. it is a combination of a few thing such as maintaining lag, hip and shoulder rotation, bringing the butt of the shaft across the left leg...
yes the amount of release if dependant on where your hands are, weak=less release= leak...strong = more release = turns over. The whole point of my comment is that when the guys are talking about low/left they are talking about the path of the hands compared to plane/target line. staying on top of the ball, going left with the club head, arms disappearing to the LEFT low. your release = a bit more underneath and behind with the arms and club releasing down-the-line. Thats what they mean.
in the video you changed your grip and said this is what the left low guys are talking about but you didn't change your swing. it's not just the grip.
Watch the video I did called Right Thumb Drop Off. On some shots he left everything married as it was at address. For other shots he dropped the thumb to the side of the shaft at the top. You can see it plain as day if you look at photo's. Check out The Hogan Mystique pages 82-83 and 100 for example.
Yes, thanks cameraman... Also, please stop talking. You never seem to understand what you are filming or what the subject is saying.

I like the way the cameraman chips in. Give him a break-he's keen and wants to learn, makes the mood nice and laid back too

its not that simple to do unless the person has talent, or it would take to long

Right thumb position determines plane on way back... would you kindly illucidate a little more on that please?

It looks like you are trying to advertise on my video. Where can I send my bill for this?

As quoted as being 1 in 4 guys in the United States that are knowledgeable enough to teach the aspects of hogan swing.

Of course!! The difference is a product of the differences in the formation of the grip. That's why I show a few differnt grips and releases.

Yep! Take the right grip so you can hold on. Take it back behind you so you are in your own way. Release with the body. That's Hogan.

how can you tell hogan didn't maintain that 'V' in his right hand?
