forever ernie harwell will remain in the game of baseball. Great man met him once. He stood there like the house on the side of the road and watched that one go by. He even said that when Tigers got out. Unlike those White Sox announcers would do and why should i even mention them in a comment to ernie harwell comment and thank you to the great man. when I was a kid, I'd listen to the Tigers on WJR radio and this was the voice that took me through many ballgames. absolutely the best baseball announcer EVER!

My aunt died at age 88 she was blind her whole life. She wrote Ernie and told him: Because of you I can see the game. It touched him so much he had to meet her.For over 25 years they remained friends till her passing which he attended.
