  • icky! the feet drive me crazy! they cannot go on as a class! r they dumb! u have to be 10 at my company/school and have to pass certain requirements! they should wait 5 years and try again if they r WAY WAY WAY better.

  • Listen. Strength is veryy important for pointe. BUT so is the age!!! If you are not 11 or older, your growth plates in you ankles, knees, etc. will get so messed up and it will hurt you. I know this because I have known people that went on too soon and now they cant dance. Its dangerous when you are not strong enough BUT its also dangerous if you are too young!!

  • wow, they're not strong enough to be en pointe

  • when you show me a teacher with x-ray vison you can tell me that good teachers know when a kid is "strong enough" or not

  • once again, the only way to measure is with x-rays....i was one of those extra strong kids....and i went up at 10. i always had more discipline and body awareness as well so i always danced three classes above my age. i have permanant bone damage from going up before the bones in my feet calcified. i was strong enough to dance en pointe with out pointe shoes by the time i was eight. people thought it was cute. people thought it was cool. trouble is now i suffer for it.

  • aff que chato

  • Ouch. Most of them don't even seem strong enough to push over their box.. too young :(

  • okay, yes these girls arent ready and probably wont be for some time, but

it´s just not right that they all are going to get " really bad foot damage".... really bad foot damage doesnt come from ,i dunno, i´m guessing 30 minutes of point a week or so, if even? It can, but it will not be this way for everyone. there are dancers that can go years with incorrect technique and forced turn-out with nothing happening. they CAN of course injure themselves anytime.....

  • WHAATTT... no way i did not just see this, these children are waaayy too young!!! even if they are training professionally its just wrong before 13 there bones are still very week and not fully developed neither strong enough. im 16 and now train professionally and i only went onto point just over a year ago, and im glad i wasnt asked before because i would never had been strong enough! there going to injure them selves soon! !!

  • as far as I have been told, you cannot go on pointe until around the age of 12. going en pointe before their feet are fully developed could handicap them permanently

  • now that's a shame. because of their stupid studio, they are going to get really bad foot damage, and its not even their fault. id like to wring that instructors neck, its extremely reckless and dangerous do to what he/she is doing >:(

  • Oh My God! Those girls are on pointe and they are about eight! they are going to seriously hurt themselves and never be able to dance again.

  • @MsClaudia19971 as I see it, there is at least one girl wo is not en pointe- meaning they DID kind of pick the girls who are ready- plus: to me they look as if they just started pointe, which of course wont make them look like professionals... but u do have to start at some point... and to me they look like about 10 which is okay to start- and doing maybe 10 minutes a week wont damage them forever and I cant find proof they're doing more than that

  • @cocolinabt that one girl not on pointe was probably injured from being on pointe too early!

  • yes, too young.

  • Picking pointe by age is the stupidest thing ive ever heard of! obviously the studio was too lazy to focus on the dancers individually and find out who is strong enough for pointe yet!

  • they are waaaayyyy to young, it's not that they aren't good it's just not good for their feet because they are obvi still growing and that could seriously damage their feet

  • What a pity!

They're far to young (and technically bad) to be on pointe!

  • too young!

  • get your kid's feet x-rayed!

  • WAY TO YOUNG! Their not old enough!

  • no one no one no one should be on pointe before the age of 12&1/2 because bones have not calcified before that. no matter that they are only doing strength work......bare minimum is 12 and then only with x-rays. crappy studios all over rake in the money putting babies on pointe.....they don't have to pay for all the medical bills once these girls hit 30 and the damage shows up. never let a child up without x-rays to check for mature bone calcification! not just how strong she is.

  • @poketvenus your SO true. your feet aren't fully grown yet

  • why is the girl 3rd from the back in flat shoes?

  • woah girlie in red leo!

  • i went on pointe at 9 because my feet were strong enough it doesn't all depend on age!

  • to young. in my dancing school the pick who goes on pointe by their strength not by their age. thats retarted.

  • it may not be the same for ballet as it is for irish but we have age limit for going en pointe which is 12 but alot of dancers do so anyway so that its easier when they get to that age? not sure if its the same thinking or not..?

  • completely different styles of dance i realise

  • Yeah at my school it's 11 or 12. Just the basics first, then when you're 13/14 you start harder things. Well that's RAD anyway.. dont know your syllabus :)

  • Also in Italy with Vaganova girls go on pointe shoes at 12... but with a lot of hard hard work before... :P

  • they may be young, but you don't know if they are strong or not, this is a 6 seconds video, you can't say they are not strong enough because you don't know them

i think they look sooo cute =)

  • you can tell though by this video that they have not enough technique. they should work on that then they would be ok for pointe , ye they are cute!:P

  • how could these liddle girls be strong enough for pointe. its impossible. it takes years and years of perfection. im 14 taking 5 ballet classes a week and not on pointe yet. they prob. take 1 class a week and because of their age they got right on pointe.

  • WHAT- you're 14, doing 5 classes a week and not on pointe?? That is insane. Does your teacher know what they're doing?? The average age people go on pointe is 11.

  • Age is not the sole indicator for readiness for pointe. Pointe depends more on the development of the body than age. Girls with hypermobile feet and knees, as well as girls that have stiff, inflexible feet may need longer to develop the proper strength. All girls will develop and mature at different ages. Far too many people are obsessed with the "age" that one must go on pointe, but fail to see the overall (and more important) development of the body and mind.

  • I'd say that 'majority' of people are ready for pointe at age 11. After having a good 5 years of ballet training. You are right in saying that some girls need longer to prepare. It all depends on the individual. I was just pointing out to liltoria105 that if she's 14, doing 5 classes a week... (if she's at a qualified teacher..) and wants to make it in the ballet world, she should be on pointe by now...?! Pointe is very different to flat shoes. But again, this is just my opinion...

  • Why are they on pointe? :S that's freaking insane, or an accident waiting to happen.

  • they're just doing basics at the barre, strengthening their feet. Preparing for centre work in the years to come- well that's what it looks like to me. People need to chill out.

  • WTF! there isn't a specific body structure for dancing!

  • yea for ballet. but they are skinny enough! and yea too young

  • Yikes! not old enough or strong enought to be en pointe!

  • way too young

  • yeah, too young
