Great track. Is it just me or is there some sort of conspiracy here. Bolin hardly appears on camera even when playing a great solo. They seem obsessed with Hughes and Coverdale.
I saw them twice,II & IV in the 70's,and no one touched them in concert, NO ONE. I've seen The Who, The Stones, Aerosmith, all great bands, but DP kicked their ass live, no contest. Tommy on his worst, most fucked up, drugged out day was 10 times the guitarist K Richards is or ever was, are you shittin me?? Say what you want, but Ive lived it, seen them all just about, and Deep Purple was THE biggest band Rock N Roll kick ass there ever was back then. Period.
Blackmore was a gr8 guitarist no doubt. Very stylized with a gr8 sense of melody. But lets face it,Tommy Bolin and Steve Morse are on a much higher level of musicianship. Better Technicians with more diverse stylings. Comparing Blackmore to Bolin or Morse is like comparing David Lee Roth to Freddie Mercury. There is no comparison.
@Sprintimeboy Yeah, totally agree, they were on their good days the best band of their time, of course it was basically depending on Tommy's shape of the day ... cheers
Ive seen em twice in the 70's, awesome band! My opinion this is one of the, if not the best Purple lineup. Yes,Blackmore was awesome, but the guy is slightly nuts. He attacked the cameraman in 93 re-union because the guy came into his "space"on stage, cracked his fuckin head open! He wouldnt even let other bandmates enter his "area"while onstage. Now he plays minstral folk music in fares in Europe with his wife.
I'll take this DP anyday, hard, raw, kick ass music by 5 very talented, sane, people.
It's really strange - the sound seems totally disconnected from the video footage, It appears to be overdubed - I have been a purple fan for 30 years and this ain't right !
all know about Tommy that he played on Come taste the band, but this was enough in order to spot him as the gifted guitar player and his solos on thet album are masterpieces, whith his own style and great and tight mixture of blues, funk and hardrock riffs, i am fond of what he did on the album, After I listened to this album I wrote about Tommy biograpgy he left a lot behind him, so pitty he died, he was surely a great musician and man!
@jfk261 I have nothing for now, as I study)) but I would pay 1 000 USd to see that concert if even it was the only pocket money I had. )) I f I was a wealthy man I would pay more and more surely)))).
of course we want a DP Mark III reunion!! It's the only way fr the fans to see live performances for songs like Burn, Mistreated, Stormbringer etc! and of course the only way to see Ritchie Blackmore live with his white Fender Stratocaster and without Candice!!! WE WANT IT!!!
@mixalis6890 Never gonna happen.Paice is in todays {tribute band}Purple,Lord is doing classical staf,Coverdale is touring and releasing albums with Snake,Blackmore is doing his solo staf the same goes with Glenn.
1976, this must have been very near the bitter end for DP. What a great song though. Wish Hughes and Coverdale would do a record together, they both still have awesome chops.
@titustiti I am sure any Rock fan would like to see Ritchie plug in & Rock again with the Deeps or Rainbow or a new project,!Ritchie is his own man as ever, so whether serious money offer would be the real proviso..who can say?
His fans certainly deserve a chance to revel at the mans abilty & give the likes of J Beck,Clapton,& Jimmy Page a timely kick up their ...
@Rhezor12008 Yes, it was Mark IV, but a MKIV reunion is impossible... And either MKII... Only MKIII reunion is possible. And only Blackmore/Lord/Paice is really DP, event though Bolin was awesome on 'Come taste the band'.
@rubysueross You're fucking right! I wish the same damn. It would be fantastic if Hughes and Coverdale did something togheter, maybe with Iommy too! Have you listened to Fused, by Iommy and Hughes? So, try to imagine how a new album of theirs would sound with also Coverdale singing on it...

Very nice song for Deep Purple Mk4.
Bon solo de Bolin sur la fin et un Ian Paice terriblement efficace derrière ses fûts.

@slycordinator Correct my friend... Just like AC/DC wasnt DC untiil Bon Scott joined the band. & Once Again.. This is just my opinion

@slycordinator Deep Purple was always Deep Purple until 1976. Probably in 1984. Now it's Paice, Gillan, Glover and friends.
