Although I do not believe that God or heaven exist, if it did, this is the music you would be hearing for an eternity. I enjoy all five concertos. However, this is my favorite and most sublime.

Zimerman and Beirnstein give this work the true meaning of concerto for piano and orchestra, rather than the all too common piano vs orchestra. The habit of some conductors to come in early and fast at the end of a cadenza particularly infuriates me!

In my opinion, Beethoven's music in this particular composition was immortalized. Beethoven  is made aliive through this entire concerto I heard this Masterpieced since 1983 - 84. Thank you again. Excellent job Stromgul.

Time frame 19: 49,50,51, 53,54,55, 57,58,59 the music note sounds that I've been looking for 3 beats each. The last 6 drum beats before the violin or Celo overture is superb. Super perfect performances from every body.. God bless you all.

I always wonder when I watch piano performances if moments like 10:13-10:16 are affectations. Is part of performing playing up the drama, or do performers really get swept away?

@handsomechuck1 - Some is drama; some helps you play by getting you into the mood of the piece. When it's overdone, it's just drama and it looks stupid. lol

Absolutely phenomenal. Breathtaking. What an exceptional work of Beethoven's and this orchestra is an exceptional accompanist to Zimmerman's brilliant performance. And Lenny? @louisbunch Zimerman and Bernstein are a perfect combination---I agree that this performance is indeed heavenly. If you can, please listen to this piece as performed by Silvia Capova and the London Festival Orchestra, Alfred Scholz conducting, 1990. For me, that performance is, in my opinion, humbly submitted, the best performance of this piece---ever.
