6 months on from hearing this for the first time and it's still hitting the mark every time I listen to it (which is often!); thanks again Proculled :)
@vohor1 I like to listen to it on vinyl. As far as I know they never performed it again after recording it in the studio in 1968.Listen to how Judith sings "the rain".No one can sing it more beautiful.
I wasn't even born yet when this song and these images were recorded, but this is a truly touching production. Thank you for sharing this hauntingly beautiful piece of history.
I lived through this era and I don't remember this song at all, and it seemed to not hit the charts. As I listen to it now it is hard for me to understand why. This song is hauntingly beautiful. This song is a testament to just how spectacular the Seekers were.
I am pretty sure that the opening images in the park were from the TOTP promo film used for 'Georgy Girl' in early 1967. The Seekers were still tied to pantomine in Bristol at this time. Does anybody remember or is my memory bit lost?
Why does the song make one cry? It's all about a first love or old friends or special events that occurred long ago. Maybe we took them for granted and want to go back to our home town or college campus or wherever to renew the relationships or relive the times. But we know that those people and the occasions aren't there anymore; even the buildings are changed. They're only in our mind. You have to live in, and savor, the present.
@capratube It's been so long since I wrote that, it no longer makes me cry. But I still feel the same way about it. It might have to do with me getting older, and then seeing this stuff. I don't know. But these videos are fantastic. Of course I think their farewell concert was when I was a little kid.

Don't know if it was filmed for the TOTP promo but the opening images are filmed at the Cabot tower in Bristol,UK.

Beautiful melody, not postmodern crash noice. It heals my soul...

It's a fantastic song, and Judith's voice was beyond belief, IMO. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm glad the owner of this account has all these videos up.
