  • This is the first time I've EVER used my YouTube Account to comment. That being said, I think this is proof why the Manic Street Preachers are severely underrated.

  • the singing lessons JDB had after Everything Must Go ruined his voice. It's way too nasaly and squeaky now - this sounds 100x more powerful.

  • i listened to this song 100,000 times, i do believe that.

  • my god....where the f**k is gone his voice???

  • Anyone know the chords he is playing? Tabs i have seen seem to suggest E, B, C#m and A, but that doesnt look like the chords he is playing here. Great vid by the way, a shame there are so few acoustic MSP videos.

  • @1979JBean i think hes playing the E and B as barre chords up at the 7th fret , the c#m on the 4th not sure about the A though :O

  • @robbiebabysham Thanks, that seems like it - i think i spotted JDB a few times playing an A up at the 2nd fret by barring across the three strings. That'll do for me.

  • @1979JBean Almost, the "B" chord is actually E/D# - X 6 9 9 9 X - low to high

  • Great vocal but the piano player is truely terrible. Bum notes galore, major mistakes with the sustain peddle - sounds like he'd fail a grade 1 music exam.

  • i just have two things to say : Like n Replay !!

  • i like this music, good luck from foggy and moondragon and all on the mothership

  • I like this, it is very nice. I wish they would do this version live <3. Who is going to the CIA in May? I be there <3

  • love the song and the hat! :P

  • Question: Why aren't the Manics global superstars?

Answer: Because they aren't and never have been willing to suck the cock of satan like every global superstar since the 80s has.

  • @Supaduck0 No it's not. It's cuz 1. Richey went missing the day before they were to leave for America, 2. The Gallagher brothers had a falling out which lead to the Manics (who were due to tour with them) to miss yet another shot in the states

  • @Supaduck0 You must have a cupcake <3

  • it is itemise loathing.

  • @adamskieagle It's itemise loving but god knows what he says here

  • @merseybeast76 itemise LOATHING!!

  • its not loathing? what does he say?x

  • rick wakeman in keyboards :D

  • all we want from you are the kicks you gave us

  • not bad

  • this song reminds me my youth and myadult life, love disapointment everything ,love you ! god bless you

  • tragoudara....po po...>:):):)

  • And that is how its done! a tad shaky at first but mate, he found his stride! F**kin awesome performance! Thanks for posting that :o)

  • Terrible.

Piano seems off. That, and the guitar solo of the original recording was half the fun of the song!

  • Amazing song, I tried this on Piano if anyone has time to check it out. Thanks.

  • best version!!!!

  • lol the piano playing is truly awful!

  • @djsunsunboy : It is isn't it...far too obvious and clunky...

  • jóó szrtem Ł

  • This truly is a great version of an awesome manics song frm a fellow Welshman ^_^. Nice one JDB

  • Just what a song!!!

  • just pure class, a fantastic version of my fav manics song. any version of this beautiful song is a pleasure to listen to, the great vocals of MR JDB... a job well done...

  • @foreverashcroft ..oh old account, still this version is haunting,i love the manics.. JDB, always cites The Clash as one of the bands main influences, and sound.. need to listen to this again...

  • Keep listening to this. Brilliant.

  • That piano riff is sublime.

  • since when did using an electric keyboard count as accoustic?

  • Acoustic these days seems to mean 'no drums'

  • Acoustic these days seems to mean 'no drums'

  • jeez, i can't feel my knees!

  • fucking awesome. JDB's voice is amazing...conveys so much passion and energy. I just wish the manics weren't so "political". Concentrate on the music guys!

  • Political? Its what they are all about dude...I wish more groups and more people were more political in their thinking, then we wouldnt screwed over and treated like scum by the elite.

Think outside the box and stop existing in yr Capitalist utopia!

  • tell me how this is anti-capitalistic? don't me wrong but surely this song is about distopia and depression? What political point does it make apart from disaffection with the main stream?

  • Dystopia caused by capitalist society. PS I was replying to the fact The Manics are a political group with something to say, the muffin who wished they werent political was the one i was making a poin to.

  • I remember seeing this on MTV2 years ago, was the first time i'd heard it when I was getting into the Manics and I thought this sounded brilliant. Really good live performance. Eringa on keyboards is great too. Love James' hat!!!!

  • Eringa is great indeed, she and James voices make this video one of the best.

  • SHE and James? I thought the same thing. HER name is Dave!

  • I meant to say he but I have an odd illness where I often press "S" on my keyboard for no reason.

  • wow! amazing!

  • Maybe its Davina Eringa :P

  • I was pretty fed up with these guys for quite a long time actually but for the past few years now I have gradually got to love their music, again.

    Great music!

  • U2 are for the Irish

  • I'm Irish and frankly I find that offensive.

Bono can go suck a dick.

  • Bono is good. U2 and the MSP are both great, quit arguing, tanks and tanks again.

  • Don't get me wrong, I like U2, well at least their previous efforts.

But you cannot deny Bono is a prick. Can't stand the sight of him live now. That live show they did above the BBC rooftop for the new album......I would have pushed him over the safety barrier.

    The short little obnoxious shite.

  • And how glad I am for that!

U2 is 100% pure pristine dog-shit! ALWAYS been!

  • @pinheadsen fucking spot-on

it's disgusting that slimeball twat Bono (give to charity, but my money is in a tax haven) and his troops have their global success and manics dont. MSP are a million times better!!!

  • Welsh legends, like

  • God this is beautiful.

Where can I find an mp3 of it??

  • Manics are great on their own, but this is so Beatlesque its wonderful.

  • the song that should of been a worldwide smash...

  • great version =) i like this acoustic better than the original. I prefer it played by a cover band of a friend of mine, Cauda de Tesoura, it's magical! if i record it i'll put it here for you to hear =)

  • That was really good and special!

  • this is just the very definition of perfect. Not even joking. Stops me dying of boredom at college every day.

  • hmmm... it just needs those guitar riffs in there

  • And for him to remember the words

  • James can sing what he want, he's well known for switching about lyrics on live performances

  • What lyric does he sing between 25 and 30 seconds?

  • it's "itemize loathing" in Welsh, methinks. I still love this version so much.

  • I'm slightly unsure about that but because i can't speak Welsh then i'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

  • I think he sings organised loathing but i could be wrong

  • nah its itemize loathing, the organise lyric comes intp the song when it says : 'organize ur safe tribal war'

  • OMG, James has, indeed, been a boy somewhere in the history. Great piece of music ennihuu.

  • This is beautiful :D i love james' voice and james is soo hot here :D

  • I remember this been on TV abotu 10 years ago and it was the first time I'd heard it, I loved it. Still got it on VHS actually :D Manics rule!!

  • This must be recordered more than 15 yrs ago.

  • I think 1992 or 1991

  • it wud of been at least 1992, but it was most probably 1993 though :)

  • yeah it's 1993. james is wearing all black + the hat he used to wear during the GATS era, i.e. mid-to-late 1993. in fact, he's dressed like this in one of the photos in the GATS sleeve.

  • James is so YOUNG! And sounds it. Sweet.

  • James Dean Bradfield and bob from twin peaks classic :)

  • that's funny

  • nice the guy really looks like bob

  • i love this version, thanks for uploading it

  • itemise wha??

  • itemise loathing

  • its "dlay dlay", uber abstract proper outthere.

    Anne Kirkbride

    xxx

  • yeah, it's meant to be "itemise loathing" but he forgot the words

  • @phuckybumbooboo itmise loving

  • I agree.. Nice!

  • nice

  • don't work

  • great version

  • Love this version. Have it on mp3.

  • what ever happened to these guys?

  • have you been living in your own planet this year? or do you not listen to tv or radio?

  • fantastic! would like this on dvd or mp3

  • what happend to James's voice??

  • its an acoustic session so the tend to make their voice less rocky for it

  • it's back - thank the frigging lord.

  • love the piano. fking class.

  • The pianist is Dave Eringa the manics producer.

  • piano player is irritating she plays the same block chord motif for almost three minutes. jdb is sounding great on it though

  • Absolutely amazing. Thank you!

  • love it!

  • this is a great video

  • Wow ! Great thank you
