these phone companies and the providers, kill theyre own business by charging way too much, thereby reducing the number of phone sales etc. this is why i REFUSE to spend my thin money on such a fanciful luxury tech toy made obviously for only the wealthy!

Here's some of the information I've been able to find and some of it might have changed, but this might be interesting to you:

Fido is owned by Rogers. Koodoo is owned by Telus. And Solo is owned by Bell. Virgin operates off of Bell towers and Bell also recently increased their ownership in Virgin Mobile in Canada to 100%. Telus phones in Ontario and east roam on Bell towers. Bell phones in the west roam on Telus towers, in an agreement the two have.

your a retard at&t offers unlimted data up to 1 gb so its not unlimited.....and 45$ gets you 200 mins 500mb of data, free evenings and my5 or unc or unlimited texting..... They are very hard to deal with, and it is impossible to prove that iPhone making very expensive mistakes, the mistakes you have to pay for!

I don't know what you guys are whining about. I just came back from England and used a SIM only service from Orange. 20 pounds a month (that's over $40) got me 600 free. No minutes included but I could pay 40 cents a minute if I want. I just picked up Koodo in Toronto and I pay $25 a month. I get 50 minutes and UNLIMITED text and picture message. So, I personally would want the prices people pay in Europe.:-))))

Can't wait for AT&T, Vodafone, Orange, Cingular and other GSM providers to enter Canada.

I just came back fro Europe last week, I was there for a month and was using a pay as you go ATT SIM card in my unlocked K1 the entire month of September and a $20- card was enough for me to talk and SMS daily while I was there.

What Canadian providers do here is sickening. We are suckers!

What I meant by price fixing is the process of 2 or more companies getting together and charging the same price for a product or service in order to reduce competition. Apple has a monopoly - they don't have to price fix to reduce competition because they have no competition - they are the only ones who sell macs. I'm not saying what Apple does with their pricing is right, it's not, but there is a difference.

Actually Apple isnt the only people selling there computers. There are resellers. These resellers are restricted by Apple about how much they can charge.

Unfortunately, Rogers bought Fido in 2004 and merged the networks. This is why the pricing is the same.
