  • I'm going to college to do this for a living; how much do you make a month?

  • Judging by this video, I can tell that you've had years of experience. Got any advise for new graphic designers who are struggling to find work in this line of work?

  • @AtumGraphics To find work you’ll need experience (the eternal dilemma). Find an experienced graphic designer (or design agency) and see I if they’ll take you in as an intern or assistant. There are things that you don’t learn from school. As a freelancer: If you see a poorly designed brochure, menu, logo, etc. that you think you can improve –do it. Contact them and sell your idea. They may like it and hire you. If not, at least you’re practicing both your craft and your people’s skills.

  • hey patricia, i loved your work ,especially the illustrations and lighting design rendering, i have just started learning PSD,AI, and i really want my work to be like urs, honestly i don know how to present a PF this is the first time i saw that PF's could be presented in the form of video's with music, i simply loved your work n the lighting design is done in PSD if m not wrong, though m done learning the software but i still don know how to do it guess i have to find out

    thanks for sharing

  • @skavitha08 Thank you for your words. I like video portfolios as well. Regarding on the lighting design renderings... you're right, that was PSD all the way. I was very lucky to work with one of the greatest lighting designers –Robert Daniels. He's the one who proposed and did the illumination work on both the most famous causeways of Miami Beach, as well as some of the buildings of Miami's skyline. Now, that was 10 years ago. It may be different now. A lighting program? Look that up.

  • Hey there patricia, I'm currently a second year graphic design student, and I took the initiative tonight of looking up videos relating to the wide graphic design spectrum. After seeing many videos, yours truly stood out and inspired me--i wish i could watch more but I gotta sleep so I could wake up and work on more graphic design projects for my university. Since I am so amused by your video and wise comments I may just dream about portfolios tonight, haha. Take care :)

  • Wow xratedmo, thank you so much for watching and leaving such a cool comment. Being an inspiration for a future colleague is a great honor. I can also tell that you're on the right path. Visual inspiration is everywhere and the entire world is now in front of you. Keep on investigating... fine art, print, web, multimedia, photography, signs, marketing, etc. You're living in a communications revolution. And... I'll be waiting to watch your portfolio. Take care!

  • how about to improve your own image just a bit. you know how and you know why. great portfolio and presentation

  • anirre... thank you for watching and for your input. I visited your channel and I have to admit that your makeup technique is spectacular!

  • I like your illustrations.Well rendered and detail. Thanks for upload this amazing portfolio slideshow

  • I really like your portfolio, I am getting ready to update my portfolio and include webdesign ideas although I never have worked on any do you have any pointers or advise?

  • Thank you Alxode9. Tips for your video: Show your best and most relevant work first. People get bore easily: students; professionals; hiring managers, etc. If you leave the best at the end, or if you make your video too long, some may cut your video short. Best timing in my opinion: 2.5 to 4 minutes max. Be thoughtful with your music selection, and make sure to include your contact info. Also, search for videos that help you create better videos for youtube. There's one in my channel. Good Luck!

  • I'm study graphic design now but I took an art course first. The two do not neccesarily have to be required but should I further my education with something a little more focused that uses more original work?

  • Well, I can tell you this: going further on your education is an excellent idea. Study; study and prepare yourself as much as you can, that will set you apart from the average. Graphic Design is: Commercial ART, and the ART of Visual Communication. Your art classes will help you a lot, that's your base. For instance: in medicine, you study first the entire human anatomy and then... you specialize. Learn and discover what is that you like and you're best at, and then focus. Hope this helped you.

  • ahh..i see..tnx

  • a graphic designer

    should be good in drawing?

  • Thanks!

  • hi there, you stuff really is impressive, particularly how you have done! Im a student currently and id love to go into grapahic design, i was wondering if you would be able to recommend anything needed in a portfolio or give any tips as you obviously seem to have a lot of experience.

  • Hello Tatsel1589. Thank you for your comment. Kudos to you for pursuing such a beautiful career, and yes, I have a couple of tips. Visit as many graphic design sites and portfolio samples as you can; you'll expand your horizon. Visit: "Johnny Gonsalves Graphic Design Portfolio" in youtube; excellent portfolio sample. Also, display your best and strongest work in the begining to ensure that people will keep watching through the entire presentation. The first few seconds are the key. Good luck!
