@LEX10350 Finding the enemy and 'killing their stuff' would not be a Combat Controllers primary objective.
A Combat controllers objective would be to avoid the enemy at all costs, and set up an area safe for an aircraft to land. Now on the the other hand, if they run into an enemy, I have no doubt they would kill them.
TACP is the only AFSC in the air force which seeks out the enemy (as a primary objective) and blows them to pieces.
@gearsofyourmom I hear about the primary mission. I know spec ops teams lay low because they are a more surgical light fast moving entity. I know it wasn't until roughly after 911 that CCT personnel took on a stronger role as far as JTAC goes. The primary duty was search and seizure of airfields since WWII. I just did not agree with the phraseology used. I just felt like it was trying to say that it was the only career field in the U.S. Air Force that engages in frequent enemy ground attacks.
