uhmmm the red kendoka'ss second point (kote)... in slow motion you can see he hits white kendoka's elbow , not the kote . and white kendoka hits the shoulder area and part of his back .. am i wrong ? i would have just let the fight continue no points called in that moment.
i think this is the real way of kendo shiai..miyazaki masahiro wont have won so many titles if he wasnr weaving and ducking...well that's if ahem..the master is willing to give his opponent time
That's two of the dodgiest points ever! And this is what Japan wants to demonstrate to the world? Maybe they are desparate to win like the Koreans. Just my opinion ok.
Ah, yes, I did confuse the two and thought the shimpan were giving Takahashi the point for the men. Now that I see Hatakenaka got the kote, I agree that kind of twisting and bending isn't exactly proper. Good opening but too bent over for my taste. That kind of tournament style kendo is unfortunately firmly ingrained in level of competition though.
Hatakenaka from kokushikan does a pretty good technical kendo(best eight on ajkc!)
but when i heard that he's going to be in Brazil wkc, surprised me a lot('cause same age as me).one thing came to my mind, japan is desesperatly or they just wanna make the most powerful kenshi training him whit the top level guys.
i was saying that Hatakenaka,a university student, around 21 yr old,3 or 4 dan, will be on the japan delegation which is going to represent them in this wkc..so,why is that?they have lot better, stronger kenshi's in japan..that all :|
Judged by the stage and without the video description you could think of this as the Zen Nihon Kendo Senshuken, but you clearly see the difference in the kendo style :D
They are using the "new" Tasuki type arent they? Will this be the new standart for shimpaning?
The Zen Nippon Kendo Renmei is experimenting with new ways to make it easier for the shimpan to identify who is red and who is white. With these bands on the tare the shimpan would be able to see who is who from any angle and they wouldn't have to spend that extra second figuring out which flag to raise.
Really? I thought they are just looking for new ways to spend the yearly budget ;)
Well, the reason for using them is quite clear isn´t it? My question was more about the future of this new tasuki type in japanese and international Kendo events. Any suggestions about that?
I think they're just experimenting with it and getting feedback from shimpan so I doubt those of us in the international community will be seeing any changes in the near future. I personally like the new desin because it's more visible and the human brain is able to track larger objects much better.

i don't see anything wrong with it, it just looks like normal university and high school kendo. very aggressive and fast.

That last men looked a little odd to me. Looked a little too deep but who am I to say.

what men? if you are talking about the one from red, it wasn't a point.
i think you meant hatakenaka's kote, it was good opportunity. crap points like that gets awarded all the time.
