She is fantastic. However, in spite of the dance style, she still has an edge over the other contestants. She has training in ballet, jazz and tap. As a teen, she performed in (jazz and ballroom) competitions and has studied with the best. It really is unfair to the other contestants. They work hard to accomplish a fraction of her abilities. It truly is unfair.

Go Mya..there is an interview on the ABC dancing with the stars board where Dmitry says that if one has hip hop dancing experience that does not mean you can ballroom dance because they are absolutely two different things. He said ballroom dancing is difficult, technical and structured

Because she has more than hip-hop dance experience. She's studied ballet, jazz, and tap, all of which are technical, classical dance areas that give her a definite advantage over the other performers. The difference is, she's not a professional dancer, so she's still eligible.

This isn't the first season of DWTS. If someone had a problem with stars having background in dancing, then don't sign up for it. Mya, isn't the first and certainly won't be the last. I'll never understand the "cry me a river". Aaron is going to win......at least that's what he claims. Keep dancing Mya......your supporters will keep voting. I for one will be voting for you.

I completely agree...Donny and Kelly do not have near the dance experience that Mya has. Not only has she done tap since she was little but what the show failed to mention was her broadway/'Chicago' experience. People keep arguing how ballroom is totally different but what it boils down to is that It's simply is not fair to the other contestants. She shouldn't have been casted...they did the exact same thing with Melissa last season

she is not. Aaron Carter has danced since a child and studied with the one and only MJ. Donny Osmond has been dancing for 50+ years and took private lessons for BALLROOM for the last 2 years. Kelly Osborne was in Chicago the musical and been taking dancing lessons over the last few years. Joanna Krupa was pro in Ballet when she was younger. Do your research on this season's cast first.

The producers put her on this show so she has every right to be there, a lot of the contestants this season have previous dance experience, kelly, donny, aaron, joanna who cares! The point is Mya is good and wonderful to watch! There is nothing unfair about it!

I think that mya has more of an advantage to win because she is an experienced dancer. I do not think she belonges on the show. Just because she does not do ballroom dancing does not mean she cannot catch up quickly. If your a experience dancer and your good at it your going to get it faster than others. There are people who have no previous experience dancing professionally before they enter the show and yet they still have natural rhythm and can pick up quickly... should they not be allowed on the show too? And vice versa...

There are professional dancers that can't do ballroom to save their life. My point is is that there will never be a point on this show where EVERYONE is at the same level cause that;s not realistic. Ur gonna have natural dancers and awkward ones...

Sorry but plenty of "experienced dancers" have gone on to not win the show... might I refer you to the tragedy that was Sabrina Bryan. Experienced dancer, but she worked her butt off to learn ballroom and she did... but wasn't a fan favorite because no one under 13y.o. knew who she was.

There is an added element of popularity. That aside... "hip hop" or "pop" dancing only means you can learn a sequence faster. That's the advantage. The athletes on seasons past have used this to their adv. too.

I think that Mya was better, although I thought that kelly was good too. Mya has experience in tap dance not ball room. There have been a lot of stars that have music and dance background or some type. ABC is trying to entertain us. Can you imagine if everyone danced like...oh let say Wayne Newton or Cloris Leachman? The show would not hold my atention. I'm voting for Mya all the way she dances beautifully!!

I think that Mya did great she looks so pretty. I think she was better than Kelly, but I think that kelly was good. Kelly surprised us all. Mya has tap dance experience, but no ball room, There are always stars that have had some dance back ground and we have had olympic champs on the show. Abc is trying to entertain us that is why they have a variety of stars on the show, from some dance background to none at all. I hope Mya goes far in the competion. I'll vote for her every week!!!

Too many fast steps and not enough Viennese waltzing. Although Mya is technically a better dancer than Kelly, Kelly's dancing had more of the sweeping style that you expect from a Viennese Waltz. They really used the floor. Mya's partner's choreography is really to blame because, at least right now, Mya is the better dancer. Let's see if the choreography gets better.

I've been reading all of the comments and I just want to address some of them. In regards to Mya being a dancer and a singer. They always have singers, Drew who won season 2, Joey and Mark Bass from Nsyc and Lil Kim (loved her). And what about Kristi who won with Mark and Shawn Johnson both olympic champs. The key is none for them have ball room experience. Mya is a tap dancer and singer. I think she did better than Kelly, I think Kelly was good. She surprised us that's what it is.

I'm not buying into the comparison's with Kelly. But if you want to compare, Kelly is a singer, her dad's a rocker, her Mom is very graceful, so she does have raw musical talent. You don't go from 0 to that dance with Louie in 3 weeks without some basic skills.

Yeah... she does have experience.. but most of the dancers this year are either althletes or have some kind of dancing experience. Joanna, Mark, Aaaron, Natalie, Melissa Joan Hart... etc. They also have more advantage than ppl without experience . Plus there altheletes and no how to work with their bodies. But then again.. look at Kelly.. she shocked us at all... Sure talent might get you far, but its working hard and getting better each week. Who says it's impossible?
