I was at the LSE lecture. I'm a Christian, and I don't agree with what you said about the rock and the sand. There are different interpretations of the rock and sand analogy, and your interpretation isn't necessarily right!
The reason they weren't happy with what you said was because what you said had little to do with the topic of the lecture, and it felt like you stood up and just gave an opinion. They probably didn't realise what your point you were making was anyway!
