i like this song, i am a huge fan of Big D all the way from their oldest to their newest stuff! its nice when a band can switch up their style and still play amazing music! so dont hate, their older stuff is amazing too and their newest cd hits more close to home as far as that goes, but fluent in stroll is an amazing
I really dig the back up singers this song shows how amazing big d is. Taking loads of different instruments different vocal melodies and mixing it all together to make it sound fucking awesome. Very happy song
@ducktapemagic Hey man!!! I represent NJ...don't be ill on the greatest F'in state in th nation. Just remember, I'm from NJ, it automatically makes me better then everyone else.
@79CRMB So far, so good. It's not easy, everything is new and foreign (obviously) and our friends and families are stateside, but we're doing it. No regrets.
I loved this record and I still do, kinda got bumbed out when i read the singers whole joyful state of mind which inspired the record kind of fell apart afterwards, he didnt get married to whatever woman seemed to rule the topics of his love songs, and he had to pay for the new record out of his own pocket, and a bunch of other shitty stuff, oddly enough Ide say the new album is like the older big D but a little more grown up and angry where as Fluent was this fluffy yet soulful piece
I'm a fan of that good old ska punk and everyting, but i love this song. I love how Big D changes styles. When a band changes styles, and keeps the music good, thats a great band. Not simply because its not punk anymore, Its not that they suck now, its that your musically ignorant and only thnik whats good because you like it. Ordont really love music, just that genre. Big D is a great band.
People, they have NOT under any circumstances "sold out". It's not like they've signed to a major label and are making the music the label wants. This is Big D doing something new, something different but it's still the songs THEY WANT TO MAKE. No one wants to play the same songs forever (except for AC/DC).
yes it is somewhat hard to believe that the same band that produced songs like L.A.X made this but thats what makes big d awesome. theyre great no matter what they do
I don't know why anyone would go around trying to call Big D sellouts. The music they put out is in it's own league. I know they've experimented with different styles, but, at least in my opinion, that just defines them even more as a band. And before anyone goes around labeling a band of this caliber as "sellouts" I think you should reflect a little and see if you aren't the one selling out to a shit job and getting caught up in life. And by the way, amazingly wonderful song.
I love this video (and track), fits the song perfectly. Inspiring and a constant reminder that there's always time to change to make your world more positive.
Thanks Dave, Brianne, and the rest of Big D - keep up the amazing work; I'll see ya this summer. :]
oh cmon!! stop whining about them being sell outs! all you do is yakity yak yak! why dont you make your own band, make really good music, and be ultra famous that not even Mozart would come back from the dead and lay a finger on you. and if you do.. i swear to GOD i will kill my cat and eat it for dinner!
To be honest , Music is music , Ska is Ska i guess and Big D , Is well an amazing band I mean I dont less than jake or Sublime but it isnt because I dont like there music moreless it doesnt have "meaning" in some songs but with Big D they got it , There Music has 100% meaning not just Date Rape or some Bullshit you Know , But then again Music is Music like what you like , Dont Judge other People Stay Punk , Stay Skinhead, Stay Drunk :) Keep it up!
At first i was like wtf has happened with the band. Is the punk finally dead? This song seemed like some cheap pop thingie. But around the 1.30 mark the song got to me. This is actually really chill, grown up, nice song. We dont have much of those nowadays. I smiled for the rest of the clip.
@louda01 I had the same view of this album at first. But, then I saw Big D at Warped in VA Beach two years ago. They have in no way lost their old sound. As with each of their albums, they are just doing something different. I applaud you Big D for managing to mature your sound without losing the old, very hard thing to do. Hope to see you and meet you guys at the CD RELEASE SHOW on JUNE 18th up in Boston! So stoked for the new record
I didn't realize how much older these guys were, the last I heard of them was "Shining On", and you could tell they were starting to head in this direction. I don't think it's better or worse than any of their older stuff, its just different, and I don't know why everyone is hating on them, they're just doing what they love!
I think the video is really cool and I'd love to be able to something like this one day!
wtf. I hate this girl. He looks like such a tool in this video. I know that they can do what they want now and there are some good songs on this album but this is the corniest fucking video I've ever seen and frankly I think he's whipped.
i've always wondered like in the music videos for songs where the dude is singing about a girl he is in love with is the chick in the video ever the girl from real life? or if it's really weird that he is singing about a girl he loves but like kissing some actress in a video
Guys, Big D decided to do it like this. I think it's still good, this song is really meaningful. Fluent in Stroll is really funny and rocking. They're still having fun and doing what they do, but they are allowed to try new things.
I'm totally into the ruder stuff they're known for, but this was great. It made me smile more than I have in a while. I guess the adorable chick in the video helps too though. :)
I have no idea why anyone would comment on this saying it was'nt a good song. I find it beautiful in my own opinion, I mean dont get me wrong I love their old stuff but I love this just as much if not more.

People complain about the band changing, its definitly a good thing. This is their Sgt. Pepper's, very little connection (musically) to their old stuff, but a big change. Strictly rude was their Revolver, a blend of this and the earlier punker stuff. Enjoy the message of the new album, its about being happy, not bitching about music videos on youtube.
is the girl with the curly black girl the same girl whos in fluent in stroll but with slighhtly blonde hair??? i must know who she is im in love with this girl!
I for one really like how you can watch them mature and there music style gets... classy :] it makes them diverse, why complain about there new stuff, when you've got tons of old classics from them?? I love Bid D, hands down best ska band In my book :D
@hotactionpunk123 try downloading a torrent engine like bit torrent or u torrent the u cn use torrentzdotcom to search for anything. but ull need a good antivirus cus sum twats bug the files
@skacorerecords Look, no one gets into the punk buisness to make money; Unless they are stupid or Blink 182. I understand it's a totally different sound. I'm not denying that. But it's their music, not yours. you can bitch and moan all you want, but at the end of the day, you don't make music for the fans, you make it as an expression and you enjoy doing it. If you enjoy, great. If you don't enjoy it please stop insulting them and wait for some generic ska band to emerge.
I get that they aren't young "punks" anymore. However, they chose to get into the ska genre in the first place. They bitch and moan like any other bands out on the road trying to make a buck. Did they really think that either changing their "Style" or making it as a ska band would really work? IDK. They are targeting a new audience. They know they can't make money from kids anymore. However, can they actually make a living from a contemporary standpoint? No.
if you don't like it don't listen to it and don't bitch about it, go flame the jonas brothers music videos or something. this is actually quality music and i love their new album
@Squab777 then you are an idiot and have obviously never heard any of their other songs. how can you even compare this to anything else they have ever done? it's a totally new direction and it kinda sucks...i love big d and im seeing them live in like 2 days in burlington, VT. im hoping this new shit is better live...theyve dropped the ska-punk label and it blows. this song is a chill song but if i wanted chill id listen to bob marely...i want raw fast ska-punk which is what they are best at
@flashesofbrilliance1 i am a big fan of big d and have been listening to them for quite some time, if you don't like the new direction like i said before don't listen to it and don't bitch about it. not all the bitching in the world is going to make them stop playing good music whether it be punk-ska or this so just stop whining like a baby and enjoy
I like the old stuff like How It Goes or Strictly Rude. But you gotta admit, that this album is pretty awesome. I mean, if you just want to calm down after a hard day, just put this CD in your player, get a beer and enjoy the music.
Well its not ska-punk anymore but its still very good ska music and i think their new style isn't that bad. Great songs to listen to after a hard day. But still I hope they'll put a few fast songs on their next album....
@SoldSeparatly . I remember when they were at their first year of Warped Tour. I opted out of watching Rancid play because I was told of this new ska band from boston. They were set up in a little tent with about ten people watching. This was Big D. Best god damn show that I have seen them play so far after all these years. I don't know what their new garbage is.
i find it interesting that people are putting down the new album because it strays from what the people are use to hearing coming from them. may i remind you that they put out "porch life" which was their attempt at rap and was nothing like any of their other albums.
This video is like one big advertisement for stuffwhitepeoplelike.
I mean, they were a good ramp into better music back in middle school, and I get how nice dudes they are, but this is just straight yuppie bullshit. The lyricism and message is laughably vapid: don't worry, there's hope for your happiness when you're upper middle class, in a loving relationship, and established financially but still young. Cool, thanks for the insight you guys.
You have to realize these guys are in their 30's now so they are not the same teenage punks that wrote Shot By Lammi... songs like this and Shine On are complex and amazing! and for the sake of the guys I hope a comerical or movie picks the song up and they actually get PAID for putting out great music for the past 13 years!
@ coolbreeze101b- Rich Kids!?!?!? HA!!! These gusy are still keeping it so real... they are far from rich! Strictly Rude was such an amazing CD that it would be tough for anyone to follow that up and it took me a while to warm up to this CD (thougth it was good at first but took a few listens to really "get it") but this is really another AMAZING disk!
AH does anyone agree with me with what im about to say? This ist the big D we know and loved. this is a bunch shit they use to hate rich kids and look now they are the rich kids. WHY??!?! because they can live anywere see I use to be able to relate to BIG D but i cant anymore because im poor and i cant live anywere thanks big D u made me relize that i cant live anywere :(
@coolbreeze101b this song isn't about having money, its stating that you don't need money to live anywhere. I think you missed the point of the song. I really hated this cd first listen, but after a second chance i came to really love most of it.
@coolbreeze101b Like someone else said, they aren't the 20 yr old punks they used to be. Sadly, we have to mature at some point, but it doesn't mean you have to change who you are, and I think Big D has done a great job staying with their roots, not in sound, but that love of playing meaningful music
@AFMisfitsDK Er... wtf? Just because you grew a little older doesn't mean that you should completely change your sound. Why didn't they just make a new band, because this isn't the same Big D & the Kids Table. Their older music was genuinely GOOD.
if being mature means being a dull "stroll" band that`s more bland than 80`s soft rock and not more having a good time, i dont want to grow up. i don`t mind band changes much. i liked their change from ska to reagge with strictly rude, i liked the punk to pop punk changes done by greenday and blink-182. but when bands go from ska punk to stroll or punk to alternative rock why do they insist on calling themself the same name? they might as well quit the band and start something new.
I wish I never found that video....

AFMisfitsDK 1 year ago
@krew2110 Haha appreciate it. Glad to see there are still some other sensible people who listen to ska and punk.

where can i download this song?!
hotactionpunk123 1 year ago
I get that they aren't young "punks" anymore. However, they chose to get into the ska genre in the first place. They bitch and moan like any other bands out on the road trying to make a buck. Did they really think that either changing their "Style" or making it as a ska band would really work? IDK. They are targeting a new audience. They know they can't make money from kids anymore. However, can they actually make a living from a contemporary standpoint? No.

So, is the girl in the video actually the one who made him write this album?

SO CUTE:]
I love all the many faces of big d and the kids table...:]
KelseyKatastrophy 1 year ago
if you don't like it don't listen to it and don't bitch about it, go flame the jonas brothers music videos or something. this is actually quality music and i love their new album
Squab777 1 year ago
@Squab777 then you are an idiot and have obviously never heard any of their other songs. how can you even compare this to anything else they have ever done? it's a totally new direction and it kinda sucks...i love big d and im seeing them live in like 2 days in burlington, VT. im hoping this new shit is better live...theyve dropped the ska-punk label and it blows. this song is a chill song but if i wanted chill id listen to bob marely...i want raw fast ska-punk which is what they are best at
flashesofbrilliance1 1 year ago
@flashesofbrilliance1 i am a big fan of big d and have been listening to them for quite some time, if you don't like the new direction like i said before don't listen to it and don't bitch about it. not all the bitching in the world is going to make them stop playing good music whether it be punk-ska or this so just stop whining like a baby and enjoy
Squab777 1 year ago
This is such a nice song.

I like the old stuff like How It Goes or Strictly Rude. But you gotta admit, that this album is pretty awesome. I mean, if you just want to calm down after a hard day, just put this CD in your player, get a beer and enjoy the music.
Rizz3n 1 year ago
If they were an indie band, I'd think they were ok, I'd like the use of brass in an indie style.
But they're Big D and The Kids Table, what the fuck is this?
This looks like they're trying too hard.

@1Lozzix1 chill out man, how can you think that about such a chill song

Remeber when Big D were a band of rude boy punks.... Not sensitive Hipsters
SoldSeparatly 1 year ago
@SoldSeparatly
Well its not ska-punk anymore but its still very good ska music and i think their new style isn't that bad. Great songs to listen to after a hard day. But still I hope they'll put a few fast songs on their next album....
doemp1 1 year ago
@SoldSeparatly . I remember when they were at their first year of Warped Tour. I opted out of watching Rancid play because I was told of this new ska band from boston. They were set up in a little tent with about ten people watching. This was Big D. Best god damn show that I have seen them play so far after all these years. I don't know what their new garbage is.
Skacorerecords 1 year ago
i find it interesting that people are putting down the new album because it strays from what the people are use to hearing coming from them. may i remind you that they put out "porch life" which was their attempt at rap and was nothing like any of their other albums.

this is shit, it was a good band

This video is like one big advertisement for stuffwhitepeoplelike.
I mean, they were a good ramp into better music back in middle school, and I get how nice dudes they are, but this is just straight yuppie bullshit. The lyricism and message is laughably vapid: don't worry, there's hope for your happiness when you're upper middle class, in a loving relationship, and established financially but still young. Cool, thanks for the insight you guys.

they need to go back to the REAL big d and the mutha fuckin kids table - not this bullshit

R.I.P Big D. Beijing to Boston wasn't the greatest, but this album really put you in your grave in my mind. Peace.

AH does anyone agree with me with what im about to say? This ist the big D we know and loved. this is a bunch shit they use to hate rich kids and look now they are the rich kids. WHY??!?! because they can live anywere see I use to be able to relate to BIG D but i cant anymore because im poor and i cant live anywere thanks big D u made me relize that i cant live anywere :(
coolbreeze101b 1 year ago
@coolbreeze101b , they are saying you dont have to be rich to live anywhere, you missed the point of the song.
coffin28 1 year ago
@coolbreeze101b this song isn't about having money, its stating that you don't need money to live anywhere. I think you missed the point of the song. I really hated this cd first listen, but after a second chance i came to really love most of it.
AFMisfitsDK 1 year ago 2
@coolbreeze101b Like someone else said, they aren't the 20 yr old punks they used to be. Sadly, we have to mature at some point, but it doesn't mean you have to change who you are, and I think Big D has done a great job staying with their roots, not in sound, but that love of playing meaningful music
AFMisfitsDK 1 year ago 54
@AFMisfitsDK this is the smartest, most truthful comment ive ever read on youtube. I 100% agree with u
krew2110 1 year ago
Wow, what the hell? Disappointment, I has it.
@AFMisfitsDK Er... wtf? Just because you grew a little older doesn't mean that you should completely change your sound. Why didn't they just make a new band, because this isn't the same Big D & the Kids Table. Their older music was genuinely GOOD.
mariahrochelle 1 year ago
@mariahrochelle As you grow older, you mature. It's a fact of life. Things you like and want mature and change as well.
AFMisfitsDK 1 year ago
if being mature means being a dull "stroll" band that`s more bland than 80`s soft rock and not more having a good time, i dont want to grow up. i don`t mind band changes much. i liked their change from ska to reagge with strictly rude, i liked the punk to pop punk changes done by greenday and blink-182. but when bands go from ska punk to stroll or punk to alternative rock why do they insist on calling themself the same name? they might as well quit the band and start something new.
