There aren't a lot of Star Wars games based on aerial combat, which I feel is a huge shame. Factor 5 went above and beyond to fine tune the best space sim that I instinctively compare other games about flight to.

And about the homing missile upgrade, you can actually fire unlocked missiles just as before as long as you load and fire without delay. For taking down Star Destroyers, it was a useful skill because you can still unload a full salvo of missiles.

HOWEVER!!! I am not playing it anymore because all the spaceships are so slow. yeah, there is a boost button, but that speed SHOULD be the standard speed of your ship.

Rebel Strike contains all main missions of Rogue Leader, but it's co-op only and it doesn't have the bonus missions where you play as Darth Vader.

I only ever had one problem with this game. I found it a little too short.

But then again, considering that the graphics for this game were pushing the GC to the absolute max (which is even more impressive considering it was a launch title), I suppose some sacrifices had to be made.

There were lots of rumours they were working on a Wii Lair game, a Kid Icarus game and there were rumours they were working on a 4th Rogue Squadron game, we'll never know now though.

Indeed, This game is one of the best Star Wars titles ever, Beautiful Graphics and Gameplay.

Though, If you want to know how to fire your torpedoes without the lock on thing, just press the B button twice rapidly. That should bypass the lock on and fire it, right in front of you. ;3

@smashbrosfan25 Yeah, that's true. Rebel Strike was the ONLY Rogue Squadron game to go 2 player. Sadly, the only thing that killed it was the land battles. After all, Rogue Squadron always was more of a air/space fighter game. Land battles were only accepted in the Battlefront series.

The thing is, that they concetrate so much sometimes in you it, is imposible not to lose lives in crucial moments of the game. I always try to fight with all I got cause I really like RL, but Im not an ace, you excuse me mr. perfect.

Absolutely fantastic game. I should point out that even the one point you bring up as bad, the retarded lock on for homing weapons, while I agree is hindering, can be mitigated by dumb-firing the homing weapons by double-tapping B. They'll go straight, but...eh, oh well.

They were amazing, but they really cocked up the sequel.

They basically spent most of the time remaking the flight engine graphics which supposedly looked 'Better', they didn't, they just looked shinier,not better.

That meant that they spent FAR too little time on the on foot sections which, really should've been great. They were not, they were almost unplayable and VERY amaturish.

Rogue Leader was well ahead of its time graphically, VERY realistic, but they cocked up the sequel big time.

Great review dude. Prefer no scripts sometimes because what you feel about the game really comes out. Also, the missile thing, if I remember correctly, you hold b to switch to a homing reticle for the missiles. But if you are in the regular green reticle, no the yellow one, double tap B to just shoot a missile straight up.

this game was never released on either the PS2 or the Xbox. Neither machine could handle it, thats what was ace about the GC it could handle more things on screen than both the PS2 or the Xbox.

Just got this a few days ago... Very cool but then again, I am a lifelong STAR WARS fan... I do have a bit of a bone to pick with this, just like you said, the winning of medals is to say the least, ANNOYING... First you have to play against time, then you have to be accurate in your shots, then you have to destroy more and more enemies, while not losing too many lives, and among this and that you can't really use your tageting computer if you want a chance at getting a good/better medal.

Sounds kinda easy but, when you're trying to dodge laser fire from just about every direction, your shields disappear in the blink of an eye. Also, trying to find TIE's in the black of space is kinda tricky sometimes. Overall, I love the graphics, sound, atmosphere, what can I say, it's STAR WARS. Kinda wish Battlefront had these graphics... If it sounds like I bashed the game, trust me, I LOVE anything STAR WARS, including this... STAR WARS RULES...

With the lock on torpedos you can double click the B button and it will launch like a normal torpedo. Little trick i found also if you crash into the bridge of the star destroyers they will blow up.

High School Never Ends(Bowling for Soup), My Sitar(Dr. Bombay), Hidden Village(LoZ:TP Soundtrack(You do not know how ticked I was when you could only hear that awesome song once in the entire game), Ebay(Wierd Al), and Through the Fire and the Falmes(Dragonforce). I know, I have the most varied taste ever but at least you know I like alot of differebt kinds of music.

This is just me but I found the controls to be way too sensitive for my liking. Also, TIE fighters were impossible to see most of the time, much less hit. Finally I felt that, unlike the first game, none of the ships besides the X-wing were really viable in the missions =/

The best part about the Rogue Squadron 2 is that your Wingmen are actually usefull in this game and make smart decisions, while in the first game they were complete idiots who would just fly straight ahead without shooting anything.

They really need to re-release this for next gen but with....

1. The speeder bike section from the one after this. An ESSENTIAL level!

2. The same 2 player options from the next one but, with a single player option so you can have races by yourself.

3. Make the ships FASTER.

4. Online battles!

Now that game would be a CLASSIC!
