  • I loved it when "they" would mention Pat McComick!

I feel lucky growing up in the Bay Area.

  • Thank you SF Chronicle and an even BIGGER THANK YOU to Mr. Pat McCormick! This will forever be special to me (and my children!)

  • I haven't seen these two in years

  • Awww, life will never be this innocent again. If they had these PSAs in the Bay Area now, they would be diccouraging 10 year olds from car jacking someone they are huffing paint...

  • .."Let's ask Pat McCormick to go the park!"

"OK.... Have to put him on a leash..."

This was one of those brilliant examples of humor which flew over our young heads but sent our big siblings sprawling.

  • @ToonGrrl that's true, but it's also a true statment. I put my dad on a leash all the time when he was still alive.

  • HOOOOLLLEEEEE FFFFF@!##@!!

I TOTALLY had forgotten about Charley & Humphrey!! OMG! Memories just SWARMED into my head!!! Thank you for posting this!!

  • Seriously, Me too, Look up Buster and Me, That freaked me out too

  • Witty as ever - good message - just the best that only local television could offer. Well done Pat! And remember - there's one one 2! KTVU - the best bay area TV station ever.

  • So true, HooverTuber.... The best. Not a cookie-cutter station like the multi-station Field Communications' KBHK-44 (although I enjoyed that too). KTVU had personality, it just did. Their programming reflected it. From Charley & Humphrey to Creature Features with Bob Wilkins, KTVU just stood alone, and at the top of the heap.

    There's Only One 2!

  • Used to love watching Cartoon Town in the early mornings as I was eating cereal and getting ready for school, too. :-)

  • I remember this and Captain Mitch on KTXL channel 40. Does anybody else remember him?

  • I miss this, and the GOOD days Pre-Bush era.. They'll never come back!! :u(

  • Talk about blasts from the past. I love the Oakland Raiders sweater! I love being from Oakland!!!

  • OMG! I remember these two from my childhood!

    Wow! Thank you! :D

  • Glue! I need Glue!!

  • i dont remember this one also. i only remember 'bits and pieces' stuff, i guess

  • Sadly, the puppets have fallen apart. A real shame, as far as Im concerned they should be placed in a museum! God these shorts were just as a part of being a kid in the 80s as GI Joe and Transformers.

  • Pat McCormick's self-deprecating humour shines through again! Priceless! We miss you, Pat. And thank you so much for allowing SFChronicle to post these, it really means alot to see them again! You're a wonderful part of lots of people's recollections of growing up, and I just want to thank you. Here's hoping your retirement continues to be wonderful and rewarding. Thank you so much. Oh, and please release "BEES" and "BOATING SAFETY." I know "BEES" by heart and would LOVE to see it again!

  • Yes..The bees one was the funniest.

  • Love Humphrey's Oakland Raider shirt...back when the Raiders were Champs! LOL

  • Don't hold it against me that my folks and I had just moved to SanFran from upper Minnesota at the time...

Who knows? Maybe the Vikes could've pulled it out had they made the Super Bowl this year, and not the Saints...

    YEA SAINTS!!

  • The music is taken from "Barnyard in Orbit" from Perrey and Kingsley's "The In Sound from Way Out"

  • Mixed in with Mickey mouse Club, the Archies, etc... these guys, heralded by that flower and guiitar background. For my short time in SF, I vividly recall at least the flower and music.

  • :) Thanks. These guys are a flashback and a half.

  • OH MAN, I used to love these guys as a kid in SF! :)
