I've experienced the opposite.

Ofcourse most people who listen to the ''deeper''/''proggresive'' bands like Gojira, Meshuggah, Cynic, Death, etc. have an open mindset and are generally more intelligent. But what I've seen from the general ''metal'' scene is that the people are actually close minded and see it as a scene and something to fit in rather than to listen too, love and live for. But never judge a book by it's cover.

Metalheads seem to be the most open people, music wise, culture wise, etc....yet the scene is so misunderstood. I guess metal was made to be underground, we don't need publicity, its about the music.

I don't know.. Sometimes I like an interview to be more than just "what's your gear" and "What's your biggest inspiration". Most bands nowadays aren't as interresting as they were back then (30/20 years ago). Because in order for metal bands to come up with music like Slayer did og Black Sabbath, it was often alot more than plain inspiration. It was often drugs, background and mostly anger. And with that kind of agenda, the artists back then made interviews very interresting! Just look at Lemmy!

i love Gojira, they actually really do care. They actually care that we get the message and they actually care about animals and trees. Thats so beautiful to see. I just hate how people flame Gojira, for supposedly "copying" Mastodons and Cave In's style, its so stupid.

Had the honor of seeing them at their first show of the tour at JAXX in VA...they are, hands down, the greatest band out right now. I was almost in shock after the show! Go see these guys live, they will kick your ass! The Way of All Flesh should get album of the year...no other album can touch it! GOJIRA!

Gojira put a lot of their Envr beliefs into their lyrics if you have noticed..so it automatically becomes a part of their message..and they will speak about it if asked on an interview.

For example..A band that believes in satanism will talk about "that" in an interview..but i'm sure you will not be saying "Hmm...."xyz" talking about Satanism....How metal is that".

Plus its a good thing that you know about staying green..a lot of people dont..so its good thing for them..right???
