Michael Horncastle is a legend. This is and will allways be his song! - You don't have to be Einstein to figure out that Michael is sick during this preformance. But still after travelling half way around the world he diden't let anyone down. He stood there with a straight back and sang. He did great! and the spirit he spreads around him is so strong and rare. Well done Michael:) and goodluck in what ever you do:)

michael was so unlucky his voice changed at 13, tom's didnt change til he was 15. michael will always be a libera legend!! im a girl, and id die if anything happened my soprano voice. the boys must be gutted when their voices change!
Big Ben's much more luckier, being able to sing the high notes and do solos at 16. But eventhough Michael's days as a treble is short he will always be remembered. :)
This was probably one of Michael's last public performances as a treble because he has already a tenor by their concert in Leiden later that year and Tom was doing the lead solo for this song. If he appears to be struggling with his voice it's probably because it was starting to drop and he was having difficulty controlling it.

I agree with you. Several months after this performance, Tom became the primary soloist of Libera. It is also said that Michael is not feeling well in this tour. But still, I believe that Michael did great in this song, and did his best. He smiles even though you could really feel and see through his expression that he struggled in singing.
Tom is my favorite, I think he did justice on Far away, but I think Michael did better as this song was made to fit his voice. :)

My voice is sore at the moment, and when I sing it sounds breathy like this as well, he probably just had a cold or something. Hats off to him for singing like that anyway!
As i can see there wasn't any problems with Michael's voice. He started sing on one sound level and finished on the same level. There wasn't any "voice jump" with Michael's voice. Secondly it was live solo performance and of'course he could be nervous, thats why his voice was tremulous.
I think that there was problem with Tom's or Ed's voice. when they sung "Venite spiritus" one of them sung a wrong note.

Common Guys.. these are kids... they might no professional singer but they are really good singers & better than professional... and singers get sick too... Despite critiques below, I will speak honestly when I say that even though Michael's voice doesn't sound quite up-to-par, he still conveys a spirit that brings this song to life better than anyone else could. It resembles the same spirit Josh has when singing his solos. When watching either one of them, they both seem so in the moment... and completely absorbed in their performance.

Wow everyone is so critical - it was a nice performance, very honest and vulnerable, fitting nicely to the song. This performance is a favorite and each of these boys are exceptional performers with great futures.
It sounded to me like there was a problem straight away in this video. I think the atmosphere in that place is not good. The sound system may be messed up too. Although it does appear that Michael may be gettin' ready for his voice change here. Time to step into manhood dude! Still sounded a million times better that anything I could produce.
I think we should have a video of higher quality to really judge whether this performance was "bad" as you put it. I can hear a lot of clicks and other noise here. Sounds like the recording wasn't too good.
