  • Beautiful dance perfect moves but wrong costume!! Thats Saidi!

  • love you Ansuya

  • Very beautiful! Oriental dance is one of my favourite arts, I also do it and I love to dance!

  • I wish that I could balance things on my head like that and dance at the same time.

  • mee encanta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i loved that Mardi Love dance to this music..:D also Ansuya dances awesome too.. :)

  • @psychobunny32 this is not tribal music, it's for the original dance SAIDI, or ARABIC FOLKORE, it's a folkloric music and dance. The real and original dance of saidi with sticks has to be danced with clothes covering your belly and you have to wear something in your head (What she is wearing on her head is ok). Ansuya its awesome costume its not proper for this dance. Look for "saidi stick dance costume" in google images.

  • @Mopita Wear a galabeya, for women. I had a coined Egyptian head scarf tied tightly with a black veil over it; as I had seen the beautiful fellahat wear in Misr. I hennaed my hands. A ton of black eyeliner, completed the look.

  • @Mopita Actually he proper term is Raqs Assaya.

  • i enjoyed the dance, but a tribal song with tribal tattoos and a cabaret costume? would've been better with tribal style clothing

  • @psychobunny32 It's not a "tribal" song, although I have seen many tribal style dancers perform to it. The song, Luxor Baladna, is a Saidi style song--meaning it is a folk-style song of the saidii people in Upper Egypt. In fact Luxor is a famous city in Upper Egypt. The saidi people are also known for dancing with a stick or a cane, which is another tip off. It is common for Egyptian dancers to include a saidi number, some change into a glitzy gallabeya, but the cabaret costume is OK too.

  • @OasisBellydance Do Arabs dance with a cane in other Arab countries, or is Raqs Assaya strictly an Egyptian style dance?

  • beautiful!

  • I think she is amazing but she is not using the correct clothe in this performance.

  • @carocenturion O.o why? This is a typical belly dancing costume!

  • @PollyGrohlFF but is not like a saidi costume

  • she is having a tatoo to look saidi, cuz in Said women tatoo their chin it's like a tradition nd it's only in that part of egypt,, nd she is putting that cuz she is dancing to saidi music so she wanted to look like them

  • love this women

  • bravissima !!!!!!!

  • The song is called "Luxor Baladna" by Upper Egypt Enseble. You can find it on the album Egypt: A Musical Voyage.

  • Love Ansuya. Such a great dancer.

Jaide

  • AMAZING!! <3

  • oh my god the people in her class were working on it the practices got old cause i idnt participate in those ones...anywho it wasnt as good as when she doe it obviously. nice nice person, AND she doesnt have a tattoo on her chin.

  • i like her performance, is sensual and properly movements.

  • can somebody please please tell me what this music is??? (song/artist) I love it.

  • Flawless! Beautiful dancer! Great music and choreography!

  • Ansuya is my favorite cabaret dancer. She's pretty awesome.

  • mildark angel answeing to your question, saidi is a rhytm in belly dance the rhytm goes "dum, tec dum dum tec" and its generally danced with long robes which cover the body of the belly dancer. Saidi is a folkloric and traditional dance, that´s the reason of the robes and the use of a cane, hope ú find it useful XD

  • What is a "saidi" exibition??

  • Comment removed

  • @MilDarkAngel .. saidi is a folkloric Egyptian dance

  • @MilDarkAngel

it means you dance with a cane and the rythm "dum tak dum dum tak"

  • she is a great dancer. she looks flexible, her moves r very smooth.

  • Very nice! Wonderful dance.

  • Why does she have a tatoo on her chin?

  • because is one of the symbol of marok!i dont what it mean exactly(maybe a girl dont married yet)but she use it for seems 'arab' i think

  • @cristinawa before islam arab women tattoed thier faces!

  • @cristinawa

its not only marok but many other arabic countries - women before used to tatoe their chins...not sure about the reason

  • @cristinawa no its a traditional bedouin tattoo that women would wear. its super folkloric, much like saidi music

  • @cristinawa is not symbol of marok only! is symbol of all berber woman!!

  • I think that is a fair question and I don't understand why people gave you thumbs down. Some of the Arab tribes have tattoos that distinguish them from other tribes. I would imagine that Ansuya wears them to give her performance a more Arab feel to it.

  • @fatdanios, Assaya is a dance from upper Egypt, to my knowledge they do not wear those tattoos. it's a little bit like wearing a Cherokee head-dress to do a dance from Inuit culture and saying that it's t"o give it a more Native American feel", there are many different cultures under the "Arab category" just as there are many cultures under the "Native American category" i hope that helps, i still love her dancing. ^_^

  • @EllNomad i gonna check hold on .....ok i found Berber women tattoo their chin to prevent evil spirits from entering the nose and mouth so its a tribal custom and appearance ,so ansuya wear it to look more fit for a tribal role in dance

Jaide

  • It's make up...not a tatoo :-)

    @EllNomad

  • @EllNomad

It has to be makeup---a mock tattoo. Which in Northern Africa shows to which tribe you belong. It is NOT

black henna which is highly toxic to the skin. Regular reddish henna is fine, but use it on your hands or feet only.

  • @EllNomad she doesnt have any tattoos.... she just uses khol to decorate herself for certain performances :)

  • vah vah vah.... so gooood:)

  • About comments on the beat; she IS on the beat. The best Egyptian dancers, for example, will "feel" the beat differently than a Westerner, for whom it will feel slow or off-beat. That is actually more authentic. Her expressions are lovely, I agree. Good dancing. Very enjoyable.

  • YouTube streams the music and the visuals separately, so often clips appear out of synch, often depending upon your connection. So, you can't make any judgments on the timing w/o seeing the original DVD.

  • Nice saidi, I would rather see a more traditional saidi costume, however; I think the cabaret costume detracts/distracts from nice dancing.

  • agreed!!

  • EXACTLY WHAT I THINK!!!

  • una maestra sin duda !!!!!

    fuerte abraso

  • no she's american!

  • no shes not, shes mixed she is part Arabic n french

  • the music is very nice and her dancing too

  • I think the sound and video may be out of sync. if you watch ...you'll see she hits the accents but the music is a little late. I love her energy. She's great!

  • I love watching Ansuya dance shes marvellous but she was off beat in this song.

    love the song btw.

  • She is the best!! y punto.

  • Actually, she *is* "on the beat". She's dancing to the syncopated rhythm. It's more of a feeling in the music.

Her eye contact and expressions are fantastic!

Yes, she deserves every bit of her fame and notoriety. She's danced all her life, and worked very hard to be as wonderful at it as she is.

Ansuya is also a very kind and considerate person. Lovely inside and out.

  • she is not on beat

  • hi! do u know the name of the song and artist?

  • Oh sorry guys, only saw now it is mentioned in the begining of the video :)

  • luxor baladna is the title.

  • I'm seeing all kinds of ideas here about this dance! I was taught that this was performed with men dancing with their horses! My instructor went to Egypt to take dance lessons there many years ago. I could be mistaken, but I don't think so...(I'm sure that someone will let me know! lol!)

  • No, saidi is a dance that comes from upper egypt and represents male farmers with their work tools (the cane).

  • Do you have the video of her dancing to Habibi Ya Bas? It used to be on Youtube but I can't find it anymore.

  • nooo im sorry :( i have only this..and i never heard about it..
