my first video game i remember playing as a child prolly 3 or 4 years old was this. it programmed me from early on to be a scrolling shooter fanatic. just think back them these games were programmed by only 1 person usually as was the case with river raid. this was classic game of epic importance (with space invaders) to the entire genre. its roots....

However, E.T. sucking is a myth. It's pretty impressive compared to

many of the other 2600 games. The whole desert story is the sole

reason people say it sucks so much.

When i was 7 i played this game so far and so good as this guy.Its not very impressive.I never finnished it since i bought a SMS and never to look at the atari again.I threw it away in my puberty since then i thought games where for nerds and i wass into drinking,(pot)smoking,techno(p­arty's)but after that i bought a pc and came back to gaming.

This is the first time i see this game since then but i was as good as this guy at it really.

river raid has no end, I passed over 160 bridges and they just repeated old levels with much more opponents (game became just sick, but still the biggest problem was lack of oil)

lol same here! he got it for me on my 8th birthday! I wanted Pitfall but the guy at the store recommended this game. It was the best atari game until Pitfall II came out. There really was no "finish" to the game. It would automatically end when you scored 1,000,000 points. That video zsyed mentions proves it.
