I was stronger I was better Picked you out Now don't say a word No don't yell out Never mind Let you out Led you back Stay on Sit down Let it fall Let it fall Let it fall Let it fall
This song is meant as a joke, he purposefully sung the song "Mumbling" and slurring his words, he is just saying that people can make millions just by singing Bullshit, as long as it has melody and sounds slow and sad. This band is just pure poetry and genius...you have to THINK about the song...or just enjoy it and dont pay attention to any meaning at all(which is how some people make millions)
Is this the kind of stuff his girlfriend gets to listen to all the time? Imagine walking in and he's just playing this, but I guess she must be used to it.
I've been told to NOT listen to RH when I'm done cuz it would make it worse, but that's just so not true. It's not depressing music, it's beautiful and heart wrenching....and you are so right, it makes you feel safe.
Thom bought one of those hand recorders. My guess is that he used it to record himself in case he came with some cool idea he could use later with the band.
So there is her girlfriend, washing the dishes. Thom starts playing with his piano... and comes up with this song.
Beautiful song. This is the story as most people know it.
I love how rough the song is. rumor is that it was basically recorded in Thom's garage, and that that *snap* sound in the background is his mother cutting vegetables.
ya know i an 11 year old and i this is the one of the greatest songs ever and probably the greatest band that ever lived other than led zeppelin. thom yorke your god
man evanescence sucks ballz. she even copied zero(smashing pumpkins),smells like teen spirit(nirvana) theyre just a bunch of posers but i agree garbette
....i wanna put this in a portable cd player, put the cd player in my trunk turned up loud, and drive around with the sounds of thom yorke's crying wherever i go
this was recorded not drunk BUT it was recorded on a cheap little mini disc thing at his home, you can hear his girlfriend chopping something something up in the kitchen for dinner....true...
I don't get why Radiohead fans get all onion-skinned and overzealous when someone says something negative about their music. It's a matter of taste and you all should just chill.
this song is pure genius. it's meaning makes my head explode, the title alone is genius. best is hearing his girlfriend rummaging around in the background. howdycaptain, your friend nailed it :).
one of the most beutiful songs i know. my friend reckons it sounds like a dying bloke at the end of the world finds a crappy old piano, no time for proper words just makes what he can as the last few minutes fade away. my friend is great

How can you put groceries away with this in the backround??? Surely you'd just want to stop and admire it!'
PetrifiedAndroid 3 years ago
gabyrivera is right, the room this was recorded in was beside the kitchen and the sounds are his girlfriend Rachel putting away the groceries.
lefty2510 3 years ago 3
actually it was recorded on thom´s house and that 'snap' is his girlfriend putting away groceries i think...

i like how Radiohead strips things down
so that their music is so intense & full of emotion

he recorded it in his flat i think.
that sound is apparantly his girlfriend coming back from doing the shopping and putting the stuff away.

I don't know how she could have kept her mind on vegetable cutting with this beautiful music playing in the background
