As for the new Concept series... can't get any info on the DW or PDP website about them yet, but really excited about the new features compared to the X7. Is that a 5.5" deep snare on the Concept compared to the X7's 5" deep? If so, that's great. Mag snare throw off is also a great addition.

I can't say I know much but different drumheads with different tuning and with different mics(and EQ) would make this kit sound completely different and even possibly bad. So how do you ''know'' that this kit sounds any better than some tama kit half the price? I have seen people commenting ''wow nice sounding kit'' and it was some non-brand kit with 10 year old heads only on the batter side.

@Villex93 Because I have had Tama kits that were half the price and experimented with several different head and styles of tuning and I have never been able to get the controlled throaty sound that I could out of a DW or even a PDP kit that wren't even mine.

Far as you commenting about other people digging on the the sound of a kit with dead heads and no resonance, they're probably from people who have no concept of what good drums really sound like.

Maybe I need my Drum Tech...to tweak/re-tune the Floor Toms??

I have both a comment, & a question. I love the way my Kit Sounds. All drums sound excellent!! But, I'm not totally satisfied...with the sound I'm getting from my Floor Toms.

I had them professionally tuned...& I still think they sound "hollow." Overtones, etc.

I sat in on a kit, back in the summer. Not sure what brand. The kit had Batter Heads...

@WearyCowboy Because your floor toms have unwanted overtones the best call would be to go with 2 ply heads or even moongell. We are not big fans if moongell and muffling but if this helps you we are happy!

I have a collector's series...what's the difference between performance and collectors?

@prognosis2112 The biggest differences is the customization. Although the Performance Series has the HVX shell technology that is exclusive to the Performance Series the Collector's Series has the SSC option which you can put together custom shell types together. The Performance Series has set finish options while the Collector's Series has pretty much endless finish options. Hope that helps to clear things up!

@btramm82 We don't know for sure what was used where, nor specific models, but a blend of Rode, AKG, Telefunken, and Shure were all used. Perhaps with a sharp eye (and using 720p) you can figure out what is where.

hello DWinc. i have a question i was recently looking at the f.a.q on the pdpd drums website and it says to keep drums out of damp or cold areas are they ok in a double garage because i cover them up every night or should i put them inside the house?

@matty16222 Obviously you can never be too careful but don't be alarmed just yet. Normally garages take on what ever temperature the climate provides. Many drummers have their kits stored in the their garage with no issue. If you have the extra room in your house bring the drums inside to be extra carefull. If your drums are not being exposed directly too sun or water or very extreme cold or hot temperatures you will be fine!
