o'donnel is a disgrace and does not qualify as a journalist under any reasonable definition. he should be humiliated by his conduct, but of course he's too full of self-righteous piety and ignorance to do so. he specializes in childish cable news sloganeering (see his glenn greenwald interview). in maryland, public schools cost $15,000 per person, and the average private school tuition is half that. NJ public schools are almost $30,000/student but are the 2nd worst in the US
O Donnell talks over peter and tells peter what his position is before peter even has a chance to answer. The viewership of MSNBC can't be very intelligent if they tolerate this.
@mcbain434444 they don't. cnn gets 2x the ratings, Fox gets 7x the ratings. often times, msnbc is lucky to crack 100k viewers. Blitzer gets 250k, Hannity gets 800k. And al sharpton isn't going to fix the problem.
It's obvious O'donnell's m.o. is to constantly interrupt and put words in the mouths of his guests. Proof positive that he's a shallow shell of a human being. Does anyone even watch his show?
O'Doucher is an idiot! What a dumbass! Seriously everything he is saying is retarded! You are a fool if you believe him. He is totally wrong and Peter is and has been right for so long! O'Doucher should seriously kill himself. This video pisses me off so much because what Peter is saying is right. How can Peter answer a question of if he'd support a bill when he has no idea what it is?! OMG! O'Doucher is just another Elite tool to make someone who is totally right look wrong. Fuck O'Doucher!
O'Donnells main point seem to be "JUST DO AAANYYYYTHIIING!". Complete panic, emotionally charged from absolute ignorance of that some things can have actual negative consequences.
I don't like O'Donnell but he made a good point that Peter didn't insist on answering: if government is driving the price of tuition up, why are private schools that are not subsedized by the government like state schools that much more expensive? It doesn't make sense.

@HowTheWorldWorks you did that! subscribed. reg might analogue school costs to home prices. mansions cost more per sq ft. than bungalows, more so because the gov't is largely underwriting bungalows through either mortgage guarantees or renter rights.
@regelemihai I'd also point you to this video: watch?v=XzvKyfV3JtE . Basically, the true cost of public education is obfuscated from you. You don't realize just how much it costs. Even the stated costs by the public school system is understated. If people realized how much it costs to send their kid to public school, I think more would choose private schools. The problem is you're paying for it over your entire lifetime, even when your kids aren't in school.
@regelemihai because the government subsidizes tution for private schools. look at colleges - all that's funded by government backed student loans, especially the private universities.
@regelemihai nooo..... but government funding goes to both. This is in regards to universities. O'Donnell is talking about private high schools in New York City - which is absurd as a case study. That's like wondering why a stamp with an upsidedown plane is worth a million dollars - because its about elitism and status. In the general economy, though, government does subsidize private schools (backing loans).
I could've sworn he was talking about private universities. Probably heard it wrong.
In that case, yes; market distortions are produced when government finances certain financial sectors. But there's still one missing piece for me. If, before the government started dolling out student loans, the cost of tuition was low, then why would these loans be initiated in the firstplace? It's like trying to help people buy a cheap good when it's already cheap. Wtf?
@regelemihai Because it helps politicians get elected to say "hey, we want to make this easier!" It used to be cheap and almost no one needed loans but they still had to work part time or maybe take out small loans (work it off over the summer). Then some jerk in DC said "why do that?" and it went from there. Even now, they say they want to offer MORE loans to students - that only drives up the cost.

@regelemihai Another thing to consider is what he said: Universities know that the govt. provides student loans so they raise the price knowing that the govt. money is good, but the student starts out life in the fucking hole. The university benefits.
@regelemihai also because the government is giving loans to everyone so everyone can (theoretically) afford to go to any school they want. if someone can actually only afford to go to a 15k school, they can go to the 40k school because the government will give them the loans to do this. so prices keep rising because schools realize people will pay whatever via loans. then, unsurprisingly, they can't pay it back.
@regelemihai It's a false question. The private schools he's talking about are exclusive ivy league prep schools. There are other private schools that cost a LOT less and provide a better education than public school. I've read a great number of Schiff's works, and I personally think he is brilliant. However, regardless of my opinion of Schiff, this was the most ridiculous thing I've ever had the displeasure of viewing. O'Donell just proved his incompetency by not even allowing his guest to fully explain his opinion. Then, to top it off, O'Donell decides to states Schiff's opinions for him, incorrectly might I add. Why is it that whenever conservatives are invited to speak, they always get interrupted?
Hahahaha. No wonder people think liberals are pussies. This guy acted like a total coward and did what he could to avoid getting an intellectual ass kicking from Schiff.
Wow. That was fucking cringe-worthy. MSNBC does for REAL progressives (like Nader and Bernie Sanders) what Fox does to REAL conservatives (like Ron Paul and Peter Schiff) And that is : TO OBSCURE THEIR MESSAGE WHILE TRYING TO DISCREDIT THEIR PERSONAL CHARACTER.
Can someone suggest an outlet for my newly brewed up anger and frustration after watching this!?!? I cant belive this is what americans watch..I HATE MSNBC ITS FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE THIS GOES ON..
I dont know what to do with it..and its..so much...
LOL. Didn't O'Donnell complain that O'Reilly interrupted Obama to much when interviewing him? This "interview" shows up O'Donnell as a huge hypocrite.
Not to break up the circlejerk, but Schiff is wrong on just about everything here. The free market is already what runs healthcare - in what way could it be "brought back into" healthcare aside from abolishing Medicare? As a result of our private, free-market insurance system, we pay by far the most money for healthcare resulting in health outcomes that are worse than Cuba's according to the WHO. We are the laughing stock of the first world on this - it's time to wake up, kids.
Painful. I especially can't stand O'Donnell's smarmy "thanks for being here" bit. It's like a form of degradation just bilge pumping this swill into the brain. You let loose ideologues to host a show? Go ahead. You won't get any self-respecting guests all the while pouring cash into the wallets of the hosts and their producers. It's smoke and mirrors and the ultimate irony is big corporations are fronting it. So in the end O'Donnell is working to sell ads on cable TV. Pure Capitablism!
O'donnelled strong arms these people because they all sit there with there thumbs up there ass y they duck n dodge every question asked and go on talking bout anything and everything while purposely aludeing the questions, they do it all the time so i dont wanna hear otherwise
Peter Shiff is 100 % wright , Look at Veterinary hospitals and medications for animals and operations , They do not differ by much acctually they may be harder ,
no insurance , Market decides prices for animals.
One example how Market can deliver BETTER than dirty goverment which is in bed with health insurance companies.
Peter Schiff won the debate with his one statement of fact between on his timer at 00:00:09 to 00:00:25. At that point, the facts and debate had concluded. And O'Donnell because of his far inferior intellect spent the entire time trying to make the MSNBC views forget about the facts that Schiff stated, and consequently won in that brief time. That is why only 3 people seen this debate. Olbermann, Maddow, O'Donnell are pathological liars and cannot debate.
my thoughts exactly on O'donnell. I just watched his show live for the first time on MSNBC. The way he uses the Tucson tragedy as an opportunity to push the leftist gun control laws was really shameless. The guy is just as bad as O'reilly. I would urge sleeping Americans not to watch this crap unless you know how these people operate.
I,m from canada , I think Peter Shiff Is bang on , and this other guy is a rude asshole who knows nothing and is a complete bully , I being a lesser man than peter would have asked him if he,d like to take a swing at me
@sibsrock We could sure use you down here my friend. We will trade 3 million leftists for just one of you!! Want to become an American? You sure sound like one!
It doesn't matter liberals or conservatives, even self respecting liberals would not trust a big government these days, the USA is not the USA you know now.
Big government is not more support to the citizen, big government means more census workers.
Liberals and conservatives, their enemy is the same. Get real.
@nyblake Peter Schiff should be the President of the United States. Do yourself a favor. Go watch him debate the Columbia professor that laid out the entire plan of the leftist agenda and how it would be the salvation of the United States. It is one hour long. He spoke the first half and Peter spoke the second half. After the debate there was an open forum in which the liberal student body could ask questions. At the end of it, a student said he had changed his mind. He changed parties that day!
Maybe Sean Penn, Bill Maher and O'Donnel can all fuckle off to Venzuela togeather, oh yeah, they probably already have beach chalets. If they don't see the good, we'll just have to drag them to it! I'm sorry America but all it would take is a coup, and with some of the mental midgits, sheeple, and traitorous cowards running around, I think the possibility is closer than you may think. They just have to finish breaking this one, and install the new one.
O'Donnel is a Socialist tool. These stupid ass rich celebrities and pundits are naive. Living in thier nice houses with all thier money and expensive getaways, think they can somehow relate to us? They are in fantasy land, and they think they are privy to some greater purpose. They are dumb to think they want to give me half of thier worth. Because that's what socialism is. Otherwise they want to keep me hungry, they want me to remain broke, they want my insurance unpaid. LOL! Nice tactic.
o'donnell says that if they pass HC dodd will return as a hero....or he'll realize his goose is cooked between that and his hand in the banking crisis and not even run. great call larry! oh and where were all those heroes running on their support for HC in the election...you had nobody running on it who wasn't in the safest of districts/states. indeed most dems ran either against it or were in support of making serious changes.
and o'donnel just admitted on msnbc that he is left of left and a socialist...go to realclearpolitics to see the video...not that anyone is surprised. all these wannabe socialists who live in nice houses in a prosperous country should have to go and see the horrors of countries like venezuela and cuba where free speech is supressed, the gov't can confiscate anything it wants to, and the gov't won't allow people to make their own economic decisions.
Omg, shut the fuck up O'Donnel. Seriously, why does this guy even have a session? He is a retard without any type of shame. I'm surprised his show hasn't been cancelled yet.
@EMPIRE0FLIES incredibly (or incredulously lol) O'Donnell got his own show recently (this vid is from a fill-in appearance for similar fathead Ed Schultz)
Unbelievable. This guy Schiff makes sense and he isn't even allowed to complete a sentence! O Donnell is a complete idiot. This guy Schiff shouldn't be running for Senate, he needs to run for the presidency.
Peter Schiff is saying if government subsidies didn't exist costs wouldn't be able to go as high as they are because everyone would be priced out. Insitutions would be forced by the invisible hand of the market, to keep prices affordable, while the clumsy hand of the state wastes resources that other people have saved. The government doesn't have any money, they take it from your savings. So, O'Donnell is fundamentally retarded because his argument that government subsidies are useful is bogus.
I am too stupid to take care of myself. Thats why we need comrades like Odonnel to take our money and spend it for us. How did people survive for thousands of years without big government? The truth is, they diddn't. Everybody was dead or living in caves until our media told us it was safe to come out.
The 661 people who liked this video liked Peter Schiff, and the 136 people that voted it down hated that asshole Lawrence O'Donnell. All in all i call that a win.
Btw at 7:33 when O'Donnell says he gave Peter Schiff as much time as he wanted is a joke.
O'Donnell pulls this crap all the time. He might as well be the liberal version of O'Reilly. Why do we let the mainstream turn interviews into attacks? People like O'Donnell are incompetent and a failure to American and should be fired.
Odonnell is one the dumbest people on MSNBC. He just called Michael Steele a Slave basically, and had to appologize. I mean do we need more, what does a MSNBC host have to say to someone to get them kicked off the air. They literally lie every night all night, and most of their hosts should be sued for their claims about people.
This interview managed to illustrate exactly what left-wingers have been telling me about Fox News for years. Oh, pardon me, I forgot that we're watching MSNBC.
Thanks for adding the timers to this video. You should also have had an interruption counter that dinged every time O'Donnell asked a question and then interrupted Schiff right after he began a sentence. The counter would go ding! ding! ding!
When you interview someone you should not talk more than them. You should ask questions and let them respond accordingly. How did O'donnell make it to a big time cable network? Crazy Peter Schiff was not allowed to get one thought out. Why would he ever agree to go back to that network.
That was intense, clearly O'Donell was trying to use agitation tactics to make Peter lose his head. It shows strength of character on Peter's part for not taking the bait and beating him to death.
lol this donnell guy is a douchebag! what a fucking shill... he's bought and paid for. should put this guy in a zoo and have him try to interrupt some animals cause thats where his hyena ass belongs
Just an example of really bad rhetoric: cutting the guest off and grossly misconstruing everything he says. Journalism classes across the country should show this as an example of what NOT to do. Intellectual dishonesty at its worst!
Mr. Schiff is peddling a right wing myth. When Bismark set up the first pension plan it was based on the fact that almost everyone was dead by the age of 65. The reason that entitlements to the elderly are high now is because demographics; people are living longer. As for social security, according to the congressional banking office, seniors get back all they paid in taxes in 3 years. Social Security and Medicare is essentially young people who are working paying old people who are not.
@Zaxxon2008 No, I meant that seniors would not have enough to pay the equivalent of social security by banking the taxes they would have saved if social security had not existed. According to the Con. Banking Office they get all they payed in back out with interest in 3 years of retiring. Mr. Schiff is asserting that without the government taxing them during their working lives they would retire with a large nest egg. This is simply not true. Social security is pay as you go system.
@drmodestoesq You are overlookings some things. The reason that social security is currently a good deal for those people who lived long enough to collect it is (1) that those unmarried people who DIED before collecting received NOTHING (unlike a private insurance plan which can go to family) and (2) social security tax percentages were vastly increased from 1936 thru the present time...something that can not continue (it went from 1 percent up to the current level of around 14 percent)
Lawrence O'Donnell: Unassimilated irish catholic filth. Allowing such non-WASPs into the country was a mistake. Ireland is the only non-Mediterranean member of the PIIGS club. Ireland will be on its knees for handouts from the EU &/or IMF soon after Greece and Portugal. After billions of free EU money from clean, northwest Protestant economies of GB, D, Scandinavia, leave it to irish to run their economy into the ground. This jackass must have missed the epic failure of Communism.
Peter Schiff accurately predicted our housing market collapse back when pundits were laughing at him, saying he was nuts.
O'Donnell is trying to discredit him and distort his position, but Schiff is eloquent, clear, and able to stay calm in the face of O'Donnell's incredible arrogance and idiocy.
Donate to Peter Schiff's senate campaign. It would be wonderful to have an advocate like him in Congress.
O'Donnell is using the lame (and transparent) tactic of bullying and talking over his opponent, because he knows Schiff will own him if allowed to express his views fully. As a matter of fact, if one listens to what is being said with an unbiased ear, Schiff owns him in spite of the bullying. O'Donnell loses.
@FixedNewsChannel Unlike you, he lets opposing viewers post their comments on his videos. You block posts on your videos that you don't like. Just like O'Donnell talks over his guest & spends more time talking than listening.
Liberals love freedom of speech when it's their kind of speech. Hypocrites.
Only liberals have I.Q's low enough to watch MSNBC.....that is unless you need a good laugh at the expense of the Olbermann farm channel where animal husbandry is taught every day.
The best part of this "interview" is at the end when the douchebag places words in Schiff's mouth, then cheers as if he's undercovered something new. "I win! I win! Yea me! No more time, got to go!" Is he 5 years old?
Peter your book Crashproof predicted everything that we're going through now... ergo I, Larry O'Donnell, think you don't know what you're talking about.
O'Donnell is a weasel twisting people's words into what he wants them to be. He was so happy at the end of that "interview" (that he interrupted every 5 seconds) to say that Schiff would raise taxes when he clearly said lower taxes.
:lol I'd be lying if I said I was suprised at O'Donnell's behavior. The truth is that he is the embodiment of progressivism. Look at the history of the progressive movement and the tactics they employ.
The usual pattern goes something like this: Create a "problem", claim that Republicans and/or conservatives created that problem, demagogue, lie, and shout down anyone who disagrees.
Bad journalism. MSNBC should fire O´Donnel. He is so full of himself and nobody wants to hear his blabbermouthing nonsensical bla bla and nobody is interested in "his take on things". He is obviously a supporter of Dodd. People like to hear what the guests actually have to say about the issues they are asked on the show to discuss. Peter is the expert on the issues they were supposed to be discussing not blabbermouthing O´Donnel! Big minus for MSNBC!
Wow, O"donnell..that was pretty obvious. It seemed weird that Dodd would retire at the "top" of his game but after seeing the sanity and clarity of his competiion, Schiff, he undoubtedly wanted to avoid the embarrassment of lose and his mistakes.
@austinmichaelcraig YEH HE FUCKING LIES FUCKIN RETRADED FUCKING REPUBLICUNTS - dON'T TAKE FUCKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUCKING KILLING 5000 AMERICAN BUT WOULD RATHER SUCK FUCKING CORPORATIONS COCKS DIRTY FUCKING REPUBLICUNTS

xxashyy 11 months ago

Here's Lawrence O'Donnell's prediction from this clip:
"If they do pass healthcare reform, Chris Dodd is going to come back to Connecticut as one of the heroes of the healthcare crusade."
So, who should be talking and who should be listening?
Mr. O'Donnell's interview style would work much better if a cardboard cutout of the guest were in the studio rather than the actual person.

Social Security and Medicare is essentially young people who are working paying old people who are not.
drmodestoesq 1 year ago
@drmodestoesq i think you meant to credit Larry O'Donnell with a Left Wing Myth
otherwise your post is correct, just attributed to the wrong team
Zaxxon2008 1 year ago
@Zaxxon2008 No, I meant that seniors would not have enough to pay the equivalent of social security by banking the taxes they would have saved if social security had not existed. According to the Con. Banking Office they get all they payed in back out with interest in 3 years of retiring. Mr. Schiff is asserting that without the government taxing them during their working lives they would retire with a large nest egg. This is simply not true. Social security is pay as you go system.
drmodestoesq 1 year ago

O'Donnell is using the lame (and transparent) tactic of bullying and talking over his opponent, because he knows Schiff will own him if allowed to express his views fully.
