  • Is this guy for real? Can you say midlife crisis? His playing is rougher than sandpaper and about as boring as watching paint dry.

  • enjoyed

  • Robert, I'm a huge fan. I have several of your teaching dvd,s they,re great. Let me know if you ever want to sell that strat! John

  • This is a blues guitar lesson not country

  • @bloodyfrets Blues focuses and the blues scales and minor pentatonic scales as they are very similar and sound "Bluesy". Learn music please.

  • @ItsNotASlim What? Learn English please cause you don't make sense! And by the way blues should sound like blues and country should sound like country. If that is country for you then change ears... or brains.

  • @ItsNotASlim I don't think any genre owns a scale.

  • i dont like country but you are all kinds of cool!!!

  • Woow

  • fala brother bom video vlw

    David in Brazil

  • Hello ,I'm from brazil ,I loved you playing .nice guitar! sounds very good.God bless you .

  • Robert Dean is probanly the best influence for the younger people. My grandson thinks he's the best and the little guy has mastered this whole video because he likes the way Robert talks!

  • you are bad!!! like to see old guitar players on here. i am old too. rock on BRO!!!!!!!!!

  • Fantastic Robert! Thanks!

  • you sir are one of the coolest old men ive ever seen, haha. George Thorogood uses this little riff too. i learned aot from this vid.

    ps.

    todomusika

wouldn't know his ass from a hole in the ground

    you rock old man

  • this is blues not country..

  • @todomusika ,

    what's the difference?

  • just LISTEN to some country music and you'll see... it's has almost always a major feel and open string licks at faster speeds... here he's playing minor pentatonic in a traditional blues way...

  • @todomusika ,

I've listened to country music all my life.

There is less bending and sliding but essentially it's the same, imo.

  • we can say the say thing about rock and pop music too...

  • @todomusika ,

pop music was the big rip off but when I listen to blues or country or rock music I can hear common threads between all three.

  • COOOL:)

  • Hej man wonderful thanks harrycool1961

  • youre a badass man!

  • Wow!!! this guy is almost as good as Esteban.

  • Dude he totally went from country blues !!XD thats so fucking cool

  • What kind of pedal is it?

  • Where have you been all my life??? You are so flippin kewl.

  • were do you find all the backingtracks! tell mee plezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

  • I now this has nothing to do with the video , could someone recommend me some country songs?

I am new in country music

  • You should look into Gram Parsons.

  • You should really check out Waylon Jennings, try some of the most famous first, for example Honky Tonk Heroes and Good Hearted Woman :-)

  • if u need country songs just search for the Country Legend.. Mr.Hag XD i mean "Merle Haggard"

  • this guy is good but im sry real country music is done with an acustic guitar :)but that is a nice little trick

  • Tell that to Brad Paisley..and Keith Urban.

  • I was thinking the same thing.

  • well keith urban uses an acustic guitar lol ... and as for brad paisley like i said real country is done on an acustic guitar ... just cuz u wear a cowboy hat doesnt make u country

  • they both use acoustic and electric (depends which song). if they aren't country, then what kind of music are they? plz dont give me some dumb answer like "shit with a guitar" because both are established and talented guitarists.

  • nice fender

  • ROBERT DEAN IS THE MAN!!!!!!

  • good

  • Thanks,

I enjoyed your pickin' You got soul man!

I get very tired of todays kids who can't really play a guitar...instead they shred.

Who cares? They're a dime a dozen and that type of stuff only impresses 15 year old boys.

  • im 14 and i play blues and im trying to learn some country, yeah i can shred and stuff cos metal influences me, but blues and country is where it all came from and thats the best

    dont make generalistaions like that

  • Well said. Plus incorporating guitar styles from all areas helps you become a better musician. I enjoy playing predominantly blues and classic rock, i take my style from Richie Sambora, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Hendrix etc but throw in some alternative influences from Dave Murray and Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden as well as throw in some Nashville style country licks. All in all the more style you incorporate into your playing the more chance you get of making your own distinct guitaring style!

  • This look like a rock solo ...very nice

  • OK!!!!??

  • Very nice! Thanks for sharing...

    Peace

    Massy

  • badass

  • dude i can tell you this dude got feeling to what he's doing

  • groovy

  • If you leave out the scales, sounds very Neil Youngy. Love the 'tude! Great salesmain! That was a very SHORT 9:11. I GOTTSTA to go check him out. Love child of eric clapton and david alan coe? :)

  • Terrific playing, why don`t you launch a DVD of you just playing blues/country whatever, I`m sure loads of people would buy it. If it was anything like this video, I would certainly buy a copy.

    You are brilliant.

  • Hehe...looks like really funny oldschool southern bluesy "ZZ-Top-like" guy :-) He talks like he would be all deaf and blind :-))

    nice lesson by the way!

  • haha! he plays like django!! look his left hand!

  • Dude robert dean is so awesome that ive watched this so many times

  • Hey vegeto909, thanks for turning me on to this guy. Actually I think this guy and Peter are both awesome in their own way. However, I'm looking and listening as I type this and I'll admit Robert is great and has a good approach to teaching. Thanks again!!!

  • your welcome i think peter is a good teacher in his own way but robert is cool

  • Umm play that 72 telecaster in the back : )

  • very good loved it

  • yea crazy cords dude

  • HagenBraun, Obviously you are a very very in expirenced player if you could not hear the country that he was playing in the begginning of that video . I wasn't talking about the lesson itself , which although it was very bluesy , also contained some country elements.I guess it's all a matter of opinion , you have yours and it don't matter

  • so where is the country that this video is supposed to have in it. all i hear is a purely blues.

i sure hope your dvds don't turn out having the same integrity this video does.

for what it's worth, i liked what you did in the video.

  • Ever hear of Country Blues ? Everything from Rock to Jazz is pretty much based on the blues

  • Even though country is based on the blues, he still played blues in the video, not country.

  • I love your playig!! I take back what I said about you being an old man!!! your an awsome hunk!!!!

  • all I have to say is that your a realy talented old man!!

  • that's awesome keep it up!!

  • WOW you are a great teacher , I used to play 30 yrs ago took all the lessons from idiots that didn't really teach me a damn thing ,(noone wants to hear some kid playing Buffulo girls can't you come out tonight, or Born Free)So I stopped playing , and after 30 years just recently bought myself a Fender Strat , and an Epihone SG , I really learned alot from this video , and it was fun too , thanks
