  • I feed my baby magpies on pedigree puppy food sprinkled with insectivore mix. I am member of fauna rescue here in SA.

  • Oh your baby maggie is gorgeous. I am really upset today because I had to take my fledgling to the vet and they said that it's wing was broken beyond repair and that I would have to have it put down (I left it with them reluctantly). How did you get your baby magpie? Did it fall out of the nest and it's parents abandon it? I have been trying to find information on google all day about feeding magpies. I should have come to You Tube first!

  • Thanks for your comment - sorry, should have responded earlier. This little one we picked up as part of a wildlife rescue organisation (WIRES in NSW). It has since been "buddied" up with other young chicks in preparation for release as soon as they are ready. I was feeding it a special "insectivore" mix made by a company called Wombaroo whose products are specifically suited to Australian wildlife (and used in zoos etc).
