I thought they were supposed to be IN the river, not in the Holland Tunnel.

@sperryism Haha, that is what came to me too. A tunnel, an unfortunate association in view of the Duisburg disaster in the tunnel last week.

Best picture of the Kupfer -Bayreuth-Ring. The jumping of the rhine-maidens is quite silly, though
