Subscribing just means a link to the videos of people you're subscribed to shows up on your homepage. There's nothing evil about it. Facebook, LinkedIn and so many sites are mutual by default. I don't think there is any risk of missing the next Annoying Orange, or other great talent, just because people mutually subscribe each other. Because they'll also subscribe to Annoying Orange without a sub back, and that's the differentiator.
@Johnrap11 I just don't like it because it makes insignificant youtube channels (such as my own) look like they're popular when really, their videos kinda suck (much like my own). I guess I'm old fashioned, in that I want to be able to look at the amount of subscribers and get a decent idea of how good that person's videos are.
@VhostakProductions - I think a lot of folks videos are better than their number of viewers. I think we should all view each other's videos. Why should Bill O'Reilly get 3 million viewers per night while our videos exist just to be harvested for original content by professional reapers. You are capable of thought and communication. So am I. There is nothing wrong about subscribing to each other. The substance of our videos are worthy, even if we lack the polish of the big time productions.
