This is a lie, possession of under an ounce of cannabis is has a maximum punishment of 6 months in prison, $1000 fine, and a criminal record. There is nothing in Canadian law that says possession of under a gram is legal. The way the law is written even possession of 1 gram of cannabis could mean 6 months in jail. Over 40,000 people are charged with possession of under 1oz of Cannabis each year in Canada. Destroying literally thousands of lives.

I could see something just like that happening here in southern ontario. I dont know ANYONE who has actually been charged for marijuana possession or growing, but I do know a lot who have had it taken away by the cops. No one really cares, cops just have to at least make a little effort to stick to 'laws', whether they agree or not
