But seriously - I am always very puzzled when people try to compare Kleenex with the Raincoats or the Slits. The only thing they have in common is that (most of) the members of each group were female.

With their jerky stop/start rhythms and yelped/barked vocals, the only real comparison I can think of for Kleenex are 1977/1978 US No Wave bands like DNA or Mars. Otherwise, they sound unique.

Kleenex was a girl band from Switzerland - also for me from Austria it was hard to understand their lyrics.....I remember to this band well. This sound was called the German New Wave - between 80-82. Their first name was "Kleenex Active" - I think.

Yes, RT picked them up on the strength of their 1978 Sunrise EP, but the sound remained the same - in fact RT released two of the original songs unchanged as the first UK single, so they were already more RT than RT!
