It's weird watching this and becoming aware of America's distorted view on British culture. It's not all red buses and the Queen - in fact that's pretty much the least important part of British culture. Although I do like tea and crumpets... but who doesn't?
Drinking more tea, and eating more crumpets? So to become american i guess i'm going to have to drink more coffee, and eat more mcdonalds? Stereotyped assholes.
Well there's a difference between Washington and Washington D.C. AND the people who actually have common sense should refer to it that way. And what makes you jump to that conclusion that I can't pronounce Stockholm, just because you are Swedish doesn't mean you can just make a statement when you know nothing about me. Yes I was born in the shithole of America but my moms from Moscow and my dad somewhere from Germany, I think I know a thing or two about Europe, I'm not an ignorant American.-.-
@FawkYouFawkMe If so, why are you making such a big deal about this? If you are talking to someone about captials then you would just say Washington, right? But that would also depend on to whom. I mean, you don't have to be super exact all the time.
Isn't that exactly what you just did? You don't know anything about that girl, she maybe knows the EXACT difference between those two.
But hey, this is a really stupid thing to be arguing about, isn't it? Can't we just be friends? c:
@HyuugaDesu Your point? If you're going to teach something to a kid teach it to them right...My niece is 3 and all she has to do is remember things they soak information up like a sponge. If you tell them the wrong thing they'll repeat it the wrong way. -.-
@FawkYouFawkMe What I meant was that it's amazing for a two-year-old knowing that many capitals, and if she happens to say one wrong (and it wasn't even wrong, how many people does actually say Washington D.C. instead of Washington?) it's not a big of a deal.
Should I be grumpy because you would pronunce "Stockholm" wrong?
@FawkYouFawkMe That's what i mean, i understand what your saying but you've also just said that American girls seem to orgasm over English accent and when Americans try and do an english accent they make us sound like posh old twats but i mean, i sound like Cheryl Cole for god sake :') No one sounds like what Americans sound like when they try and do the accent
@iNomOnBrainsz Yeah I know it gets very annoying hah just the American media sterotypes others badly... At my previous school all the kids were obssesed with Doctor Who and Monty Python, but when they actually spoke to some of my friends and started asking them all sorts of annoying questions such as, "Do you like Doctor Who?". They would get pissed off, not everyone has to like such a show just because It's from their country... FFS I don't even like Jersey Shore :P...
well its sorta impressive, but i dont know.. when i was 2 i was really good at playing crazy eight and i was just as good at it as the adults... does that mean i have high iq? i don't know.. u can teach children a lot of things..
@kimbersal28 it's also hard to find it in netherlands. but when i was in Prague, they had it in Marks&spencer (in their food&wine area). maybe they have it too in US. =)
@nlytend1 Well, if you believe you can test IQ but really you can have people with high IQ doing really poorly at school and people with low IQ doing really well. It just means these peole are good in IQ tests.
its easy for a 2year old to learn the capital cities by heart but she still can't solve problems through imagination and complex ideas because she can't create those...adults have SOOOOO much more information to process in their mind, not remembering some capital city names is the LEAST of adult concern.
Give her a puzzle to work out and then I will believe she is smart. Anyone can learn capital cities that doesn't make her smart. It just means she has a good memory.
@tinarett I know right? its only because people who think she is smart are just dumb. IQ doesn't have anything to do with you being smart (mostly memory like you said). its all academics like school classes.
@evacookie913 I hear what you are saying. The clip that was shown seems to make a mountain out of a mole hill. My son could count to ten in german before he knew it in english. Kids have a remarkable ability to learn. The clip did the girl a disservice in that regard but I think what is missed in your comment is her incredible IQ test score and induction to Mensa, both of which I think shouldn't be so easily dismissed. A video clip is not a definitive examination of her ability to learn.
This video shows this 2 year old can count up to at least 4 in spanish and she knows 35 capitals. But usually babies and toddlers are great at learning how to speak in a certain language, and learning that Tokyo is the capital of Japan is kinda like learning blue is the color of the sky...
Just because a person is taught something over a period of time that many others don't also know does not make that person more capable of intelligence then another, they have just memorized different things in life. Now if this little girl had an amazing memory much more then others or if she had the ability to figure things out and understand things better then others or if she was a natural savant in something then she would be special.
Just because she memorized the capitals of a lot of countries doesn't mean she's smarter than someone who didn't. We all have talents and the test of our intelligence is learning how to develop and apply our gifts so what we can excel and do great works.
@Tiffastic what makes her brain fantastic is this memory ability. The average short term memory of someone is 7+ or -2 items in order. IE: I read 20 things to you, you will probably fall within the 5-9 range. Those with eidetic memories, or those whose ability to easily transfer information from short term to long term memory, do have exquisite minds. While she might not be smarter, I have no doubt in my mind 20 years from now she will be just as brilliant.
@Fishcrazy321 It's nice you have friends and your American but only because your friends don't say it doesn't mean every American doesn't say it. I'm telling you from my experience that most the Americans i've come across have said it and have actually ment it and it's even worse when they put on an 'english accent' since pretty much no one in England sounds like that..
@iNomOnBrainsz Yeah most people on Xbox Live are pricks they just troll because they have no life and sit in their room scratching their asses while their social life just floats away. MOST Americans don't make fun of brits on purpose, I have friends who joke with my boyfriend who lives across the pond, but they really don't mean it. It's just how people are here. Girls here orgrasms over accents like yours. BUT ME, I don't judge people I get to know them for who they really are.
just saying from what i've experienced with Americans basically everyone of them has asked me if i have met the queen, only eat/drink tea and crumpets or wear old fashioned clothes and my ex who was American actually thought we did do all them things untill he moved to the UK.
@iNomOnBrainsz I'm American and even have friends that just came from other countries, no one thinks that. >__> Usually when people say "have you ever met the queen?" they're joking with you.
Begs the question is it nature or nurture? I mean every Parent thinks their Kid is bright. Maybe they all are. Maybe it's just instilling a love of learning. Who Knows
@ForeverCellist i was meerly showing you how stupid being stereotypical is, of course people from America don't have McDonalds with Obama ?
And the 'tea and crumpets' thing was not just a joke, i know when i go on the Xbox if i am in a game with Americans they ask if i've had tea with the Queen and basically try and act smart by being total twats.
This proves how stupid and stereotypical Americans are they actually think all British people drink tea and eat crumpets, i'm sorry but i don't drink tea and i've never even heard of crumpets before i'm more of a hot chocolate and poptart fan.
Oh and at the beginning of the video.. opening with the Queen ?
Most of England doesn't give a shit about the Queen or the royal family.
So you Americans can go back to having McDonalds with Obama (y)
@iNomOnBrainsz It sure is interesting to see you complain about the stereotypes Americans make about British people and a second later turn around and make a generalization about Americans yourself.
Lol, funny how you complain about us stereotyping you and then you stereotype us. See, I'm American and I hate McDonalds, can't stand Obama, and also don't stereotype other people. I hate stereotypes. And the tea and crumpets thing was a joke, oh smart one.
@XzEPICNOSCOPESzX well fuck that bullshit. my mom is a fucking good driver, she rocks it and never has problems and doesnt take 15 mins to park. thats freaking bullshit. and she hates cooking. lmao. we are no slaves, you fuck.
Um of course, going out asking random people what's the capitol of this and that... vs. a little kid who likes to sit, learn and read.. apparently will know those stuff! Duh? Bet as she grows older and her interest became something else she wouldn't be so smart after all. I used to can name and match the capitol of every state in the U.S... well that was a long time ago when I was 6... when all I'm interested in is books and learning... all of that then are not so much now.
@onlineversion dude cmon, the girl has an IQ OF 156 shes a fucking uber genious. When she gets older she probably wont be asked about capitols by a reporter on a street cuz shes gonna be trading stock options, or be a lawyer or an open heart surgeon or some crazy shit. And if she rolls with MENSA they will keep her on track. And um....shes also 2.....not 6......pretty fucking insane.
@sr1129 Today kids are a lot smarter so of course the age will be younger! She's just the few that got her IQ tested! My 2 yr old nephew can read and write, he can browse youtube & watch his favorite cartoon shows without any adult helping him. He take pictures on a phone, save it, can go into the album where he saved the picture and open it up. That's just how kids are today! It's crazy! Anyway, we've heard of 13 year old graduating college! But nothing happens... no trading stock shit.
has anybody ever heard of ladyxeona? She was also accepted in the mensa at the age of two.she has videos on youtube of her.just type in ladyxeona age two.shes Really smart!
all the capitals is just memorising, like rote learning, her parents have probably just spent a whole lot of time forcing it into her head
and saying that she has an iq of 156 and is ONLY two is a stupid statement because iq isnt dependent on age, she'll still have an iq of around 156 when she's 40
this is just pushy parenting
im not saying she isnt very smart, but its just not that amazing :/ and all this 'fame' at such a young age for being a super genius is bound to mess her up a lot...
@LetDaBeatTakeYouOver IQ is the process of how fast your brain can learn no? so it doesn't matter about the age or the memorizing, the number its self is amazing.
@niki982 IQ stands for intelligence quotient. Truly it is your brains ABILITY AND CAPACITY to learn, obtain information and apply it to real life. Those with a higher quotient have more ability to learn more, learn faster and be able to apply those things in a broader and more efficient manner. Compare it to the processing power of a P.C's hardrive.
@LetDaBeatTakeYouOver actually at least with the WASI your score will fluctuate with age. It is natural to see rising scores in older individuals as their brains have developed more. Everything is compared out to prior testings and age groups etc. So if you scored a 110 at age 6 it would not be unusual to score 118 at age 16. However at a certain point it is impressive at any age. score 130 or higher at any point is pretty good.
Babies brains are expanding based on patterns they are exposed to everyday, hence why they can learn an entire language in only a couple years, going from recognizing their own names around 6 months to producing hundreds of words around 2 years of age. It's not absurd that this learning can be expanded to otherwise random words such as capitols and their corresponding countries, and this behaviour is not viewed in adults because it is not practiced.
My daughter could identify 40 countries on a globe at 18 months. Nothing abnormal about her other then her parents making the effort and holding her attention by making it fun. She probably does not know what a capitol or a country is. She is simply repeating things she has heard time and time again. Reciting Sponge Bob lines would be as difficult, technically.
I know- I'm a wet blanket. She will likely exceed her peers by a great deal with parents as interested and patient as hers.
@cdg0219 I was thinking the same exact thing while watching this. o_o I mean, I've memorized every state capital, but my IQ's most likely standard (I wouldn't know, never taken a test).
@cdg0219 You would have a point.. if she wasnt TWO YEARS OLD... memorization of that nature at that early in brain development is quite impressive
1. i've noticed that comments in articles about people in mensa, or people with IQ in general are met with a very high amount of skepticism.. usually the validity of the testing, or isolating a small factor that is shown, and dismissing the value of overall testing based on that.. (which is silly but exptected)
smart little precious girl bless her! hope her family does not ask to much of her and let her grown up being a kid yeah anyway my IQ is higher then 120 and it does not make life better then if i had a average IQ :)
The Awkward Moment when a two year old is smarter than you.

@iNomOnBrainsz It sure is interesting to see you complain about the stereotypes Americans make about British people and a second later turn around and make a generalization about Americans yourself.
zebub1 2 months ago
@iNomOnBrainsz
Lol, funny how you complain about us stereotyping you and then you stereotype us. See, I'm American and I hate McDonalds, can't stand Obama, and also don't stereotype other people. I hate stereotypes. And the tea and crumpets thing was a joke, oh smart one.

I love how the American newscaster said a Racist Stereotype for the Great Britain. I'm sure they all appreciate closed minds. *sarcasm*

Um of course, going out asking random people what's the capitol of this and that... vs. a little kid who likes to sit, learn and read.. apparently will know those stuff! Duh? Bet as she grows older and her interest became something else she wouldn't be so smart after all. I used to can name and match the capitol of every state in the U.S... well that was a long time ago when I was 6... when all I'm interested in is books and learning... all of that then are not so much now.
onlineversion 2 months ago
@onlineversion dude cmon, the girl has an IQ OF 156 shes a fucking uber genious. When she gets older she probably wont be asked about capitols by a reporter on a street cuz shes gonna be trading stock options, or be a lawyer or an open heart surgeon or some crazy shit. And if she rolls with MENSA they will keep her on track. And um....shes also 2.....not 6......pretty fucking insane.
sr1129 2 months ago
@sr1129 Today kids are a lot smarter so of course the age will be younger! She's just the few that got her IQ tested! My 2 yr old nephew can read and write, he can browse youtube & watch his favorite cartoon shows without any adult helping him. He take pictures on a phone, save it, can go into the album where he saved the picture and open it up. That's just how kids are today! It's crazy! Anyway, we've heard of 13 year old graduating college! But nothing happens... no trading stock shit.
onlineversion 2 months ago
@onlineversion Kids are not a lot smarter these days. the test scores tweaked to make them look higher.

I don't believe it, really.
If that girl can without repetition learn the Greece Gods names in thirty minutes, then after eight days of not repetition name them all.
I'll bow down.

thetimman8 2 months ago
all the capitals is just memorising, like rote learning, her parents have probably just spent a whole lot of time forcing it into her head
and saying that she has an iq of 156 and is ONLY two is a stupid statement because iq isnt dependent on age, she'll still have an iq of around 156 when she's 40
this is just pushy parenting
im not saying she isnt very smart, but its just not that amazing :/ and all this 'fame' at such a young age for being a super genius is bound to mess her up a lot...
LetDaBeatTakeYouOver 2 months ago
@LetDaBeatTakeYouOver IQ is the process of how fast your brain can learn no? so it doesn't matter about the age or the memorizing, the number its self is amazing.
niki982 2 months ago
@niki982 IQ stands for intelligence quotient. Truly it is your brains ABILITY AND CAPACITY to learn, obtain information and apply it to real life. Those with a higher quotient have more ability to learn more, learn faster and be able to apply those things in a broader and more efficient manner. Compare it to the processing power of a P.C's hardrive.
sr1129 2 months ago
@LetDaBeatTakeYouOver actually at least with the WASI your score will fluctuate with age. It is natural to see rising scores in older individuals as their brains have developed more. Everything is compared out to prior testings and age groups etc. So if you scored a 110 at age 6 it would not be unusual to score 118 at age 16. However at a certain point it is impressive at any age. score 130 or higher at any point is pretty good.

failure to acknowledge the rival hypothesis.
Babies brains are expanding based on patterns they are exposed to everyday, hence why they can learn an entire language in only a couple years, going from recognizing their own names around 6 months to producing hundreds of words around 2 years of age. It's not absurd that this learning can be expanded to otherwise random words such as capitols and their corresponding countries, and this behaviour is not viewed in adults because it is not practiced.
chinchidance2live 2 months ago
that's more like knowledge, not IQ. IQ is not something you could prepare and study on.
fhhs05 2 months ago
My daughter could identify 40 countries on a globe at 18 months. Nothing abnormal about her other then her parents making the effort and holding her attention by making it fun. She probably does not know what a capitol or a country is. She is simply repeating things she has heard time and time again. Reciting Sponge Bob lines would be as difficult, technically.
I know- I'm a wet blanket. She will likely exceed her peers by a great deal with parents as interested and patient as hers.

@7cormac I know that. My point was that this wouldn't be newsworthy if she wasn't 2. Also, since when did IQ have anything to do with memorization?
cdg0219 3 months ago
@cdg0219 I was thinking the same exact thing while watching this. o_o I mean, I've memorized every state capital, but my IQ's most likely standard (I wouldn't know, never taken a test).
zERImewsick 3 months ago
@cdg0219 You would have a point.. if she wasnt TWO YEARS OLD... memorization of that nature at that early in brain development is quite impressive
1. i've noticed that comments in articles about people in mensa, or people with IQ in general are met with a very high amount of skepticism.. usually the validity of the testing, or isolating a small factor that is shown, and dismissing the value of overall testing based on that.. (which is silly but exptected)
2. I am in Mensa
3. Fuck you
